    "Slate" PC's

Amazing, I have been reading about these and was about to post the very same thing today! Yes I am quite excited to see how the new iSlate is going to look \ perform. Last year I travelled South East Asia for 9 months with my Macbook and camera equipment and it was murder carrying everything...

Help getting razor sharp photos (gig photography)

Close up with my 50mm I found myself sticking to single shot as I found I started to miss shots waiting for focus to lock with AI or Servo. It is frustrating sometimes waiting for the focus to lock when your subject is doing something really interesting but I guess there is only so fast the...

Thanks a million guys, glad you like em. All taken with my 50mm 1.4 incidentally, a bloody fantastic lens it has to be said!

Help getting razor sharp photos (gig photography)

Hi Guys, Just thought I would post back to say thanks for all the advice. I shot another gig last night and this thread proved absolutely invaluable. I see why using the centre cross type focus point is a must and why most of my shots came out soft using the outer points as I often lost...

Help getting razor sharp photos (gig photography)

Thanks for the tips and the comments on my work. I will have to try and keep a closer eye on my shutter speeds and see if I can shoot on a higher f stop to get the detail I am after. I guess I will just have to accept softness wide open and shoot more to compensate. I will also try and...

Help getting razor sharp photos (gig photography)

Hi guys, I have been photographing gigs and writing reviews for a music website for about 6 months now and I am really starting to get into it. I think I am getting my exposure\white balance correct but I am sometimes a bit disappointed with the softness of my focus in the majority of my photos...

    downgrading for travelling

I think you will regret selling the 5D. I am planning on going to India for 6months next year and I am going to take my 5D MKII & 2 – 3 lenses. Just make sure everything is insured and stays in your daypack. Never leave stuff in hotel rooms and always carry your bag on your lap on...

    Cameraworld Chelmsford

I second that - I have recently used the one near Oxford Circus in London and was really impressed with the service. (also, I think this goes in the shopping bit)

Advantages of 50mm 1.2L over 1.4 for gig photography?

Sorry guys, I forgot to mention my new Camera is a 5D MK II. Thanks for the excellent replies. Google would seem to agree that the differences in low light performance between the two (despite the monstrous cost) would seem to be quite minor. I was just wondering if anyone had any first hand...

Advantages of 50mm 1.2L over 1.4 for gig photography?

Hi, just wondering if anyone has had any experience going from a 50mm 1.4 to the 1.2 L for low-light shooting? Obviously the 1.2 L is slightly faster but would the difference be that noticeable? How often do you shoot wide open on a 1.4 at an indoor gig? Cheers guys!
