    ND Filters

I'd probably go for the 77mm for the zoom lens, and this is the more likely option of lens on the day. So, in terms of the quality / make...are there any you would recommend? Would it better to go for a flat 10 stop, or a variable? Cheers.

    ND Filters

Hi guys, I'm looking at getting a 10-stop filter for my Canon 600d. I took a look on Amazon, but was really baffled by the differences in them. Despite all saying 10-step they seemed to have different mm's on them. I want to be able to put one onto both my 24-105mm and 50mm. I'm not sure I...

ND filter set for 50mm 1.4

Hi guys, I want to get an ND filter set (inc holder) for my 50mm 1.4 lens, but I'd like to spend no more than about £50-60. What options are there out there?

500px really is a load of old...

Absolutely! I've spoken to 500px about this, and they agree that it's a known issue. Apparantly in the summer they have a new 'algorithm' appearing, which will help with the issue. However, I'm not sure how i can see it will stop people liking for likes. It seems more a cultural thing than a...

500px really is a load of old...

I noticed all of the comments coming through. Really appreciate the time taken to post. I've also started looking at 1x.com. Seems to be similar to 500px, but includes community and tutorials.

500px really is a load of old...

Hi Richard, I'm probably not the best critique of my own work, but always step away from Lightroom for a day or so once I've processed it. That said, I'd love to get to the stage where my PP work is minimal because I've taken a better shot.

Thanks James, I'll look into that, and really appreciate the feedback on the 500px shots just now.

500px really is a load of old...

...tosh! I started using 500px because I was new to photography, was able to look at other people's photos, get challenged and get people to critique my shots in the desperate hope I would improve. What I've realised, is that it's really just a 'likes for likes' website. You can never know if...

    Frustrated with my skills..

Waiting for the book to arrive (should be today), but after watching a video by Scott Kelby, it all kinda clicked for me about getting the interest into the shot (yes, a treeline along wont cut it!). So, in an effort to do something decent, I got out at 5:30 this morning with a mate, and took...

The things we do for the shot

What's the craziest thing you've done to get 'the shot'? *edit - this should probably be moved to Talk Photography!

night shot settings - Canon 600D

So...it was a beautiful night out and, equipped with a bit more understanding, I went outside the village to shoot! Apart from the fact that there was still way too much light pollution bleeding through, I found that the stars it did pick up we're slightly blurry. So, this is where I come...

    Would you buy a Tamron?

Great responses guys, all of them! Well, I own a Canon 600d, which is a cropped sensor, so I guess the point is a little academic? Perhaps I should be looking at a 17-250 instead?

    Would you buy a Tamron?

After watching a Scott Kelby video earlier this evening, he mentioned that his 28-300 never leaves the camera when he's out and about. I thought "if its good enough for him then it's good enough for me"...until I saw the price of the Canon lens. Yeah, I won't be getting one of those for a while...
