Hi Liam, Welcome. Like you I'm new to DSLR, I too have D3100 with 18 55. Been pleased with results so far but can not quite get close enough to subjects without physically moving in real close. Not recommended in Manchester city centre. So have just sent for 16 85 lens so here's hoping it will...

Only have the lens supplied with camera. Try to fill the frame but have to get really close to the subject. I just want to be less intrusive but still get a close up. Like trying street photography , faces. Not so much landscapes really. Thanks for your reply.

I have a Nikon D3100 with a 28 55 kit lens. What do you think I should go for next?? Cant decide AF- S DX VR 55 200 or the 55 300. can anyone help ? And why would you choose one over the other??? I want to be able to photograph people's faces but keep a reasonable distance. Thank you.

Tried taking close ups of lovely bright blue corn flowers but my images look very White and washed out where they should be blue. Rest of it looks ok - the leaves etc. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help. Kath.

Hi all, I need to take some pics of new baby. Have Nikon d3100 but nothing else! How is best to photo newborn? I am guessing flash is too harsh so would i just have to use natural light... Any help and suggestions? Thank you.

Can anyone recommend a beginners DSLR workshop 1- day course or similar. I have seen lots of online ads but would be nice to hear from anyone who has actually been on one. Thinking Cheshire area. Basic stuff like focus, composition DOF etc. Not expensive either.... Thanks

Thanks that helped me too. I have been wondering if you would have to use flash indoors, and if so, doesn't baby end up looking like a rabbit caught in the headlights? Minus the big furry ears of course!

My local shopping centre is owned by a private company. Security would stop anyone taking photos ......but I suppose if you were quick........
