    Nikon FE

Love my FE, prefer the light meter to my FM2, but the FM2 is a robust tank that runs in any conditions with or without batteries! Love it, cherish it, use it and fall for it totally. <3 FE

    First 35mm, trip advice appreciated!

I'm a less is more kind of guy. I try to carry/pack the minimum amount of kit. Film body, 2 lenses max (a wideangle for scenery and a 50mm for portraits and low light). Maybe a telephoto if you plan to shoot wildlife, otherwise I don't bother. As for which film and how much... Spain and...

    Tips for gloomy days

I tend to focus more on abstracts and portraits on gloomy days. If the sky is cloudy but textured it can make for some great dramatic shots, but flat lifeless grey sky is kinda meh. I feel the same about clear blue skies though. As someone who shoots in black and white mostly (film) I need some...

Thanks Adrian, it's my go to lens (Tamron 19-35) with the FM2n it's just a great all round set up for street work or landscapes. One body, one lens, one set of filters, several spare rolls of film and a lens cloth and I'm good for most days. I'm starting to see the entire world in wideangle -...

    Last Frame

I quite often process a film with 1 or 2 shots left. Rather than wait another week or two to see the results. I tend to get 38 shots from a 36 exposure roll though, so it doesn't bother me. But I always have spare rolls with me (except when I go on a planned landscape photography weekend - as...

Thanks guys. It's my new obsession, portraits of people relaxing. Mostly texting, smoking or talking. I just liked the way these 3 seemed to fit together nicely.

A few questions for a film newbie

Neutral grey is what a typical scene averages out to. This is why for snow scenes (much whiter) require you to slightly overexpose from what the light meter tells you. You can get grey cards or cloths to meter off if you are unsure. This gives a more accurate reading. I use a lens cloth that is...
