Yet Another Post About the Law

It isn't rocket science to know how to remove a roll of film from a camera, on most it's simply slide a button and pull!
And even knowing it is wrong, how many togs would really wrestle with a police officer, and a woman at that, to stop them removing the film?

Welp, I handed a few friends (5) my old Olympus OM10 and asked them to open it up, it took them 17 mins!

Doesn't take bait to comment on the intelligence of Jim and his friends:p

I see you choose you friends to make you look good :D

I never said that card holders won't get grief (they always will do in some shape or form), just that their material can be protected as "Special Procedure Material" - which is what I was rather ineptly referring to and corrected by Chris.

That vid is a classic bit of recording, and had Jules not been quite so hot headed (in terms of voice pitch etc) and only 16 at the time things might have been handled differently. The Police Sergeant certainly picked the wrong 'kid' to have a go at when it comes to photographers rights!

Personally I find this story, released today, far more disturbing:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/greenslade/2011/jul/25/human-rights-act-police

Can't believe it,do we now live in a police state,as for them not knowing the guideline, maybe their to busy counting the backhanded from NI :'(

I was stopped today by 4 shopping centre security guards for taking pictures near the centre. I'm not at all annoyed at their reason or the fact that they stopped me (someone had complained). What I'm annoyed about is the fact that the policewoman they called destroyed a whole roll of film because of one picture that was near a child & that she knew sweet f/a about the laws of photography;-J

Just how did they know there was a child in one of the pics on a roll of undeveloped film?

As I said, somebody, I think the father of a 3-4 year old boy, complained

Even if a father did complained, the police officer still has no right to destroy your film, she broke the law,and she should be delt with.

I would still complain, and even if a child was in your shot, under the law as it stand now,it is not an offend to take photos of children in the street.

If it was some of the worlds greatest photography would have been in a lot of trouble, from Bert Hardy to Bresson, and a lot of great photography working today.

:(

Daren Pollard is nothing more than an antagonistic knob head - enough said!

After watching the video, I can understand that a few people may be upset by the guy's relentless Brummie drone, but:
The police were clearly in the wrong, and kept on digging themselves deeper in, instead of ignoring him.
He was 100% correct in everything which he said and did, and although sarcastic and challenging, was never abusive or threatening.

Blimey, I managed to keep out of this one...
