Xmas food shop

Got most of my Xmas food shop this morning at Asda, went at 9am. I thought I would be fighting the crowds and faced with people with full trolleys at the tills. No, I did my shop very easy, hardly any shoppers in the store, no jostling in the aisles. Did my shop nice and relaxed, got to the till with the cashier sitting waiting for me.

Where are all the hoards of shoppers?

The pub is handling the catering for us again but I shall be passing the supermarket next Thursday evening to see what (if anything!) they're desperate to get shot of before the END OF THE WORLD (!). If the car park is rammed, I'll keep driving but if it's as quiet as it was the last time I did that, I'll get a few bargains, even if it's only selection boxes and sprouts on stalks!

Only perishables, will probably be marked down, as they will be ready for the bin anyway ..

They'll do for Thursday supper! Especially if they're vegetables.

Done a little shop this morning, tinned stuff and a couple of other bits and bobs. Went into Tesco and Home bargains at about 9am, just a hand full of shoppers in both. The news this morning, said it is going to be the busiest shopping day of the year today

Got to Tesco at around 8:30 this morning, car park was pretty much full and it's a big car park, being normally more than half empty during the week. Hardly any trollies left just outside the store, so I ended up with a basket, yet there didn't seem to be that many people in the store.

Apparently people were stuck in queues for over an hour trying to get out of car parks in Romford last week too.
I need to venture to Lakeside to go to Holland and Barrett, just trying to decide on the best time to go.
When I was there only a couple of people getting served at the till, and nobody at the self scan. I was in a smaller sized Tesco, maybe the big super stores are more busy.

Friday should be fine.

Fridays too late, I need to go today, should have gone yesterday really, but traffic news gave out queues going into Lakeside so I didn't bother. Shame Holland and Barrett don't have next day delivery.

Maybe the madness has just now started..

A friend just messaged us and said its Madness in their local Asda. Either they mean it is mad busy or there is a pop group at that store lol. They told us massive queues for trolleys, and it is heaving inside. Good job I got my shopping in early

Wandered up the local Waitrose (our only supermarket) about eight this morning for some milk and fruit juice, lot busier than usual. Couple of collapsible
gazebo type things outside for people collecting turkeys etc.

No doubt madness by now, only shut for two days, christmas is supposed to be fun

I thought I would not need to go to a shop again, other than the local shop for Bread and Milk Tomorrow. I forgot the cat's biscuits, normally get him a big bag. Looks like its Tesco first thing in the morning, deffo not going in now :(

Just a quick camera phone pic.

Done my last shop just a moment ago, the shops are only over the road from ours so nice and easy. Tesco was not busy at all, cashiers waiting for customers. I was the only customer in Home Bargains, photo above. Then popped into Heron frozen foods, again nobody about.

I love being an early bird :)

That must be so handy having the shops so close!.. I live about 10-13 miles from shops and without a car it's the one thing I miss, being able to pop anywhere..

To be honest I Xmas shopped Tuesday, asda was packed but I only needed the tin sweets then went down to Aldi, I timed it right I think because it was fairly ok and not knee deep in trolleys lol

I live just off a quirky lane full of bars restaurants retro shops, and Tesco , Home Bargains, Heron Foods, Co op all within less than a five minute walk :)

My Ocado delivery just arrived - bang on time, delivered straight to my kitchen.
Enjoy your shops plebs. :p ;)

Ahh yes, but I hand picked mine myself :p :mooning:

Exactly. Whereas @Llamaman had his produce firtled by the unwashed post-pee hands of some disgruntled 17yo Ocado warehouse trainee

Now that I have got all the Christmas food shop in, I am in the process of working out how to get it all eaten :p

Did not do a big food shop this year, but friends and family gave us so much, don't need to shop for another week.
