Xmas food shop

Trouble was, stuff I wanted was always on the bottom  staff got uppity if I took stock from cages or unopened boxes on the floor.
I'm sure they got p***ed off with me too, but tis the season of good will and all that :D

So long as I do not get the blame ;)
Oh I dunno, there are 2 mods in this thread, I'm sure we could work something between us :D

Yep and look what happens, too many Chefs spring to mind lol
Twas an "ordinary" member that screwed that up, nothing to do with with us higher beings / Deity's :D

Fight...fight... Fight...:sneaky:

I don't fight anymore, last time I had a fight I got duffed up pretty bad. Back in my school days, girl I refused to go out with gave me a thumping :(

7am is better than 9pm. Freshly stocked shelves and the tills aren't staffed by p***ed off people!

I might risk an early morning Xmas shop, a quick in and out, if that is possible ...

:D

You'll be lucky to get anybody on a till at 7a.m. you'll have to be your own grumpy checkout operator.

Try scanning a bottle of booze, an alarm goes off and they come running ;)

Not keen on home delivery for food, don't like the thought of others picking my food. For example, pickers are not going to look at a bag of spuds , to check no bad ones, and fruit for bruising etc.

There are usually 2 or 3 on the tills by ten past and it's usually a quick in and out for me so I'm generally able to get one of them. Start of shift they're normally friendly.

On the other hand, on the rare occasion that I do the food shopping the traditional way, I always think that any loose food, fruit and veg in open containers in supermarkets will have been rummaged through and coughed/sneezed on multiple times by other people before I come along.

I've been buying my food shopping online for a good few years now and apart from the occasional "alternatives", it has been met with virtually no problems. I don't have a car and my anxiety levels go shooting up in public areas, so doing it on the net in the safety and comfort of my hobby room works for me anyway.

Regarding Christmas, I've not bothered with it full stop in a decade, so it is merely a question of hoping I'd be able to get a suitable delivery slot in when it comes to ordering just my usual food shopping over the festive season. There's also hoping that we don't get to have our first real snowy cold snap before Christmas, it then becomes a double whammy of panic buying, that happened in December 2010 and that was hard work.

If you buy from Ocado, it's never been in a shop - so shorter supply chain, less handling, always refrigerated (even in delivery van)... it's very rare I get anything duff and if you do you just flag it on the app/website and you get a refund.
Can't even remember when I last had a substitution.
So much better than bashing ankles and queues in the shop.

I don't think Hugh's war on waste has reached Ocado. £90 min order value for xmas week delivery...

I appreciate the theory, but in the many many many years of using these services from ocado at first and last several years waitrose, this isn't an issue in reality.

I have seen Ocado vans in my street very often but never given it another thought, I will have a nosey on their site in a moment :)

Probably too late for Christmas now. In Bath, for instance, the nearest date to Christmas available now is the 21st. Not much help as we'll be travelling there on the 23rd...

Also don't forget waitrose. I found them cheaper and they use the local shop therefore have the local produce and product list available unlike ocado. It is why we changed, vans don't have to drive that far either etc.

Some of the supermarkets were a bit iffy to begin with but I think they've upped their game now. I occasionally use Sainsbury's and had no problems lately.
But Ocado are my favourite because you get less substitutions (they can manage their stock levels better).
