Thats ok......I would say if we were face to face talking in another setting and I said I was a Christian you would not call it a hobby to my face unless maybe it was tongue in cheek banter....But to a stranger?

I have nothing but respect for other peoples pov but I have experienced the bully tactics before and your comments are just to gain momentum from the other posters who have an axe to grind against Christians...

Do you think me calling religion a hobby a negative thing? I was not meant as an insult. A hobby is something people choose to do. From the outside, to non believers it is no more special or more important than other peoples hobbies. Quite a lot of religions think that their religion is the "special" one. But I'd be surprised if you'd expect non religious people to see it as something special.

It is indeed the opposite.
I maintain (as do many others - including some Christians) that the subject of this thread isn't a Christian and is rightly called out as a bigot.

Some people who won't even state their faith on the record, are defending the stupid wench as it's her 'christian belief'.

I can't see how that is an argument regarding her faith - I'd say we're questioning whether she has indeed got a faith, and if she has, whether it could possibly excuse her behaviour.

But some people (as I said) would rather see it as a Christian vs 'the rest of the world' argument for reasons I can't fathom.

Your indifference to it is shown by your ignorance of it, I don't understand why you would defend someone behaving badly towards another human being in the name of a religion you're 'indifferent' to.

Yes. I feel sorry for what happened to her. And now she's doing the same to her children. Start when they are young and vulnerable. That is the only way they can keep it going.

Personally I find it all a bit sad that 'some' really are still brought up to hold such views, it's a vicious circle...

I am only thankful my children won't ever be like that.
My brother is gay, my children have a great relationship with them and they in turn will eventually bring up their own kids with the same believe that you love who you love regardless of sex.

I know many Christians who believe homosexuality is wrong. Just because you don't, it doesn't mean they don't exist. As I said a few times it depends on what people were taught. There's plenty of atheists about who think it's wrong also.
I never slithered at all, it's just your lack of comprehension which we have already covered, to which you already responded so well. 10/10 for the response, 1/10 for the comprehension.
Oh and as for your helping strangers over the weekend, well done on your Christianity. ;)
 
What I found most troubling was not the homophobia (such views are not uncommon, especially in the US) but her opposition to all 'unconventional ideas'. Chilling.

My cousin Alison is gay.
Sadly she felt pressure to live her life initially as expected.
She married....two children.
Happily she eventually admitted her true self.
Her (now ex) husband fully supported her.
Her children are happier now (apparent to all who know them)

Not a great way of saying it but there are what I call social Christians, those who go every week to see their friends, a social gathering. For some that's as important as the religion, some regular contact, especially for the elderly and lonely.

You'd be surprised at how many different reasons people go to church, social reasons, positions of power that they might not have elsewhere, support for family members, music and actually religion.

Me,I went for the singing, mostly.

Put another spin on it, religious belief can other people feel uncomfortable, which is evident on here.
As a "professional" in the performing arts the man had every opportunity to be the better person and reason with the woman and show she had nothing to fear, may have even changed her views, all he has done, especially after donating her deposit is alienate her and enforce her beliefs.

Aww I'm happy she found the courage, it's so sad that it really is still so difficult for so many
My brother told me when I was 18 or 19 somewhere around then, he's 2 yes older and they've been together 21 plus years and stupidly happy, they really are a team.

That's fine, I've no problem if they think it's wrong or that they make them feel uncomfortable but to claim it's against their Christian faith is so wrong and against the teachings of Jesus. Amazing how many people who claim they are religious haven't actually read the scriptures. It's actually the best story book.im sure soaps pull their story lines from it :)
