Does anyone on here use wordpress to configure their website ?

I am looking to explore a simple package and would like to hear from you good folks, if there are any examples can you post link(s)?

cheers

Main use is for blogging but if you use a static page it looks like a website.

Extremely easy to install and use, I've used it on two work sites but can't link due to confidentiality.

I've moved on to Joomla now as it's supposed to be more advanced and better, however, it's for my personal photography site so need to develop a custom template. Ebook, coffee and a pad and I am getting there I think :)

I use Wordpress for my family website, it is very easy to set up, configure and use.

Here is a link for you to have a look: www.wapshott.com

I use wordpress as well, with no issues and its highly configureable - www.hughmillerphotography.co.uk

its worth downloading web developer and configuring wordpress on your local system for a play. You can do this bit by bit but making sure all the services you need are in place is a pain

No - used a free template and downloadable plugins. The site took less than an hour to set up, then its a question of adding information.

I'm very impressed with wordpress - its much more powerful than most people imagine, just to call it blogging software is actually an understatement.

It may not be as powerful as Joomla or Drupal for example, but its a lot simpler to manage.

I think Wordpress is brilliant foe it's simplicity In you can make it as detailed as you want with it's variety of themes on offer, and there are thousands of other WP themes available if Google is you friend :)

Check out my sig for a couple of my WP blogs I use one for 365 and another for the odd pic and rant ;) :D

wordpress works very well, although the templates can be a little limiting, I moved over to Joomla which I use to built client sites. Overall it gives more flexibility and a wider selection of templates but the downside is you have to invest more in learning. My remaining wordpress site gets a lot of spam comments.

I use it and have it integrated with Photoshelter. I use GraphPaperPress themes.

I'm pretty happy with it, but it can be extremely complex if you want to get into the nitty-gritty of it.

My site is at www.slikimages.com

Andrew could you tell me where you got the template as I am looking at using wordpress for my next site and really like the layout of your site.

Yeah I now use Wordpress for my site; www.afowler.co.uk the gallery is run on pixelpost, but most of the rest uses Wordpress. Great system, and as andrewc says, it's much more powerful than people imagine. :)

I've built around 35-40 websites with this, all using custom themes and some custom functionality I've built myself. My site in my signature uses it. Very extensible in my opinion. Quite powerful for what many call a blogging platform, it's become more than that recently.

If you're looking for another CMS take a look at ExpressionEngine or Symphony... but you'll need to know what you're doing.

Kayjay,

Am getting a time out error when accessing your site. Firefox 3.5.7 on Windows 7

Ah ****. My hosting is down. Thanks for the headsup!

HOw customsiable is pixelpost? I've been lookiing for a more professional looking galllery for a while and yours looks good :)

The bionic Dan and Purpleclouds both use it ;)

Indeed I do! Just on the blog section at the moment though... a redevelop is imminent which shall see the whole site run from it.

When I say imminent, I mean, when I can be bothered :rules::D

Wordpress for me. It's a well polished and easy to use package and the plugin system & themes work great. Love the ability to upgrade components and the system itself just from the dashboard.

You can host it yourself, or get one hosted free and ready to use from wordpress.com (some limitations compared to hosting it yourself, but still very powerful).

I've used pixelpost for my gallery for a few years now and it's very customizable. I've considered bolting on wordpress for other parts of the site but have yet to find the time to do it.. Scan Pixelpost for templates, plugins etc and have a look at my site below in Sig.. :)
