Wordpress anyone ??

Been playing about with this and it looks really good, seems cleaner than Joomla for some reason.

Just re-made my site (finished about an hour ago lol) using Wordpress, can't figure out how to remove the gap between the content and the footer though - have asked the creator of the theme for help, but very happy with it otherwise :)

just abandoned joomla for wordpress as its a lot simpler to use, site here is using a theme I love but I found after ZA is using it and so are an unknown number of togs so might have to change it and get something more original. Might well go custom theme at some point but I'm waaaay too busy atm

Here is my early stages, work in progress wordpress based site. Only started yesterday so please don't mind the lack of decent images etc... just chucked a few relatively unprocessed ones up from work t'other day!

One thing I've found is that importing blog entries from another wordpress blog doesn't actually import the images, just links to them.. so the blogs at the bottom are thumbnailless :(

It's extremely easy to use compared to Joomla.

I am currently using WP for a couple of work sites, easy to train less IT people on. I am trying joomla though, trying to get a template set up but I am just thinking about saying stuff it and either going back to WP or writing a site from scratch!

Does any one know of any good Tutorial site for WP? had a look at it a while ago, but think I need to learn a bit first.

I completely re-vamped my site just over a week ago and it's been great since. I've been using wordpress for about a year and half now and I must say, its perfect for what I normally need and reccommend it to anyone. I've also used it for other companies that need a website made too.

Tutorials for using WP or for customising it?

Both to be honest, installed it on my last PC, but got a bit lost from there on how to setup my pages, add galleries etc. :) so any sites that can point in right for getting started and then customizing will help allot.

Just a late yes - I use WP + a particular theme for my website.

Don't use the blogging features at all - they are switched off!

You need to know the structure of the site before you actually start implementing it. There are lots of ways to build and structure your website, from using categories, pages or tags... or any combination of these.

I recommend the following resources to get you started. The Wordpress Codex is an invaluable resource for when it comes to modifying and hacking Wordpress.

http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Lessons
http://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page (introduction to everything)
http://wordpress.org/extend/ (for themes and plugins)
http://wordpress.tv/

You should also used the community to ask questions and learn from others. It's another great resource. I'd leave out any books. Everything you need is on the internet. If you need anything specific then please give me a shout.

Thanks, KayJay, will have a look through those site, got some time off coming up so hopefully will be able to have a proper play with it.

Your welcome. The development community around Wordpress is huge so there are lots of places to look on the internet, but those are the main official links that I find quite helpful.
