As a project i want to revert one of my old laptops back to Win 98, so would be from Win XP to Win 98, I would like mto do this myself. Can anyone give me some advise on how to do this, or perhaps direct me to a tutorial.
thanks..
Most software written for Windows 98 would work on Windows XP. Not all, but most of them would still work. Try installing your Epson scanner software on your Windows XP then...
Go to the Epson scanner icon, the icon you would usually click on to start the software, what you need to try doing is to right-click on the icon to bring up a sub menu, click on 'Properties' to open the Properties box. Look for the 'Compatibility' tab (usully the 3rd tab) and click on it. then under the 'Compatibility mode', but a tick in the box where it says 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:' and then below that pull down the menu, select Window 98 / Windows Me'
This should be the first option to try before you think about installing Windows 98 as most of the times, this compatibility mode would sometimes fix the problems.
Unless you already tried it and it fails, I would suggest you try it first just in case.
I've been using Windows 98 for 15 years, it never failed me, just slow for modern technology, and I've now got a Windows XP, most of my software were for Win 98, and most of them are working fine on the XP, some of them had to have the compatibility mode turned on.
