ok so jsut out of curosity can you reinstall windows 7 on a laptop that already has it on bit like osx systems it has a botable spare partition ????

Never got any discs with it they said in store most don't come with the discs now how would I know ???

It should have a recovery partition.. most computers built from 3 - 4 years ago have done so in my experience.

as for serial number, is it not under the laptop? usually a sticker is placed under, or included with the manual.

install a proper operating system instead - Linux Mint - which is free...........

Have a google for the make and model laptop to see if there is a recover partition you can boot from.

You can download key finder for free it will tell you your vista serial number, all you need then is a vista disk.

But as previously said look at make of laptop, say Toshiba, then look in programs for Toshiba recovery and follow its prompts.
