I was bought Understanding Exposure for Christmas! I've had a quick read through and I'm already feeling more confident.

Ashers: I was sooooo confused when I first started (hence the username), I asked lots of questions and messed around (A LOT) with my camera. Now I work as a photographer every weekend in clubs, and I'm branching out in 2008, with the knowledge I've gained from reading Understanding Exposure (buy it!).

I guess my main point would be: If you don't have patience, photography is going to really frustrate you, when it should be something you enjoy.
Read your camera manual, learn all about the different settings (Aperture priority- Av, Shutter Priority - Tv, Manual (M) and so on, but do it one at a time so you're comfortable with each setting and know which one to use when.
xx

The daft thing is all the things which confuse people the most could easily be explained in an hour -tops, sitting round a table with a camera handy for reference. If you know someone you can get together with to explain these things it's lot easier than trying to do it on your own.

Failing that, the local library is usually a rich source of info.

O.K. here comes a proper can of worms!:naughty:

All these "disorders" we have nowadays - AND I'M NOT SAYING THEIR SYMPTOMS ARE NOT REAL -

Good start :)

are purely the result of horrible eating habits and horrible foods consumed!

Can't agree or disagree with the above comment, I have no idea what causes it.

Our children have become the Ritalin generation and the only people having joy out of this are the doctors, pharmacists and drug companies.

And they are doing so at the expense of the long term health of our children!

Don't forget the poor parents!!! They too will be having joy due to their kids not acting like a bunch of loons. Whilst I was never prescribed drugs (except liquid valium when I was 3, for a short time), I probably needed something to "bring me down" a peg or two. My mum ended up in the loony bin for 3 years due to me being a litle ****. I am talking about scaling down drainpipes at 3am and not returning for 2 or 3 days at 10 year old. Or not being bought a toy and therefore lighting a newspaper on fire and sticking it under the couch when she was sitting on it!!! The final straw when I was 11, I took an Axe and chased a neighbour home with it, smashed up their fence, garden, door etc etc. This is not what a normal person does, and whether nature or nurture (lack off?) caused it, I was different. I went into care when I was 11, and never left until I got my own place!!

Criticize/ostracize me for this but go and think about it!:bang::bang::bang:

Rant over:shake:

I think your post is fair point. You have not denied these conditions exist, you have merelly stated they have been caused by our lifestyles we choose.

With regards to ADHD, it's a hugely rewarding "condition" if you know how to milk it as a teenager and use its strengths as an adult. If you can't keep a lid on it though, it can and often will destory you.

Ashers, humour me and tell me what (and how much of it) you eat in a typical day.

You can, of course, also PM me if you don't want to chat in public.

This thread has gone way off topic, even for "Out of focus". :p

It started off with understanding photography and it's now beginning to make assumptions which the OP states don't apply.

The original point of the thread appears to have run it's course and this is now being closed :)
