Why do some Wildlife photographers feel the need to tell porkies ?

To be fair - if you look at his website he does say that some of his shots "may" have been taken under controlled conditions...like most of them!! ;)

Oh I think his bee shot was wild ;)

Good luck to the bloke. he did not lie and he has got far more "exposure" than most of us will ever have. I just think that many comments etc here are from people who have never been "involved" with a story in a Paper. You provide facts or lies and they do a grand job of coming up with their own version!

I did a story with the Times many years ago that involved the security services etc. The conversation i had with the reporter after ,was "heated" to say the least . It was about 20% what i told them and 80% made up to make the story sexier .

Welcome back Luke.
The story was in the Metro, Mail and Telegraph yesterday, so someone syndicated the pics around? Nice work and maybe a little payback for his $500 a time to shoot each animal for an hour. I deal with our local paper and haven't a huge issue with stories changing, but I do know the tabloids need a certain angle, but the same wording was published in all three articles so obviously came with the photo's to make the story more interesting to the editors.
For me, it's just tainted what are after all excellent shots and he'd have got away for it as well it it hadn't of been for those pesky kids, lions in the snow sleuth photographers ;):D

You are a man of manners !

I thank you for your warm welcome back .

I admire the man for what ever he did. Listen, most people are "artistic" with photoshop etc to try and make their pics better. But will they always admit it to a customer etc? The shots this man took could earn him enough not only cover his trip but maybe to buy some Kit .

I wonder if he wrote the Piece that he sent with the pics? Maybe as part of his plan he had someone work out the best selling story to match the pics. Despite all this i doubt the papers will question him.

He had great fun and did a shoot many of us would dream of.

so i say well done to him . Everyone needs to earn these days.

I thought 'wild' meant not being fed by humans.
Didn't you just wish the black leopard had gone for it!!
That would have been a 'wild' photo

Dont know what all the fuss is about :bat: I took this photo in the Wamasouri jungle just south of the Himilayan Mountains last week  I was about 3 feet away ..unfortunately just after I took the pick I was mauled by the beast and had my leg amputated... but it was a very satisfying experience ;)

It happens a lot in the reptile TV shows you see too. 15ft long King Cobras, for example, that just happen to be "found" on the very last day of a 2 week trip after seeing nothing every single day previously (Yeah, I'm lookin' at you Austin Stevens).

Many of the US native individuals that happened to be "found" in the "wild" on Jeff Corwin's show were captive animals.

They were simply kept cool awaiting their presence on camera so that they could be released and presenters can "find" and handle them in front of the camera with less risk of being bitten due to the animals being cold, slow and half asleep.

jeez.....

I was almost mauled by this beast today

..... must have been all of 20m way with a 10ft electric fence and a 3ft high rhino bar.....

makes me sad now to think of the animals in the zoo, wasn't a good zoo..:'( (and before you ask what makes me think that, have a degree in animal science & animal behaviour.)

Me thinks I will be having words tomorrow with the zoo manager........

Ah future Mod qualifications

could be Mod or MOD!:lol::lol::lol:

Was an evil terrifying beast though.........
