Why Do Some Men Wear Leggings Under Their Shorts in the Gym?

I'm guessing it's compression tights which allegedly help circulation which should help improve performance

Not leggings but I often wear cycling shorts under shorts and helps stop chaffing while running.

In my day often referred to as sh*t stoppers :help::ty:

I wear cycling shorts under regular shorts when I'm rowing. The cycling shorts because they prevent rubbing and chafing and the regular shorts because the cycling shorts are very thin and very tight.

So why don't professional cyclists wear regular shorts over their cycling shorts?

Maybe they're less bothered about putting their lunch boxes on show.

Exactly my point. Seems quite a few people have got in the habit of wearing 2 pairs of shorts when one will do. Each to their own eh.

When you (anybody) say cycling shorts, do you mean compression shorts or do you really wear proper padded cycling shorts under ordinary shorts.
Personally, either/both. Padded cycling shorts aren't ideal for rowing, obviously, because the padding is *mostly* in the wrong place, but it's not *entirely* in the wrong place.

I couldn't imagine rowing in cycling shorts. Well, I could and I'd imagine getting a kind of nappy rash....

That's why they invented Skins ;)

Also help stop the build up of lactic acid. Proper compression clothing also helps retain body heat and keep the muscles warm, preventing pulled muscles.
I don't wear compression shorts or leggings myself but I do have a couple of long sleeve compression shirts.

I wear compression shorts as well under my long shorts, really good for light running, cycling etc.
keeps it all together stops your trouser furniture moving about.

Yersss , ummmm, wellllllll.

I really do wish designers would think !!

Tight shorts fit better and don't get in the way, long tights help blood flow and improve recovery
