Hello,

I'm interested in getting an f2.8 lens for my Sony a580 and I'm struggling with some of the terminology.

What's the difference between the two Sigma options? Is it just just the optimised stabilisation feature and macro?

The second lens is approx. £400 more expensive! It's for long distance portrait photography and perhaps travel photography two (with occasional sport). The other option for a fraction of the price is to go for an old Minolta lens and I've seen a 70-300 f4/5.6 lens for £70.

Thanks in advance! :)

ps. There are a number of threads regarding 2.8 lenses but I couldn't find one that posed this specific question.

the 2nd one is the newer one with os built in which you dont need as you have sss built in camera, but if you did get it you could use the os and turn of the sss, and see it working in the view finder.

Thanks for the advice - makes much more sense now.
