To be fair, after looking at it, the tags do include, "big breasted," "good looking blonde," "sexy," and "hot." :lol:

so that simple URL thing doesnt work, and it's something that we can't do for you automatically.

You put the actual URL of the image inbetween image tags, then you must provide a link to the actual photo page (the part of your profile), not just a clickable link to the picture again.

We use BBCode...and they could easily implement a box with a BBCode link in, with a link back...and Flickr users have been crying out for this functionality for years....but Flickr have chosen to ignore those requests.

I was wondering why certain pictures got huge viewing numbers, and Flickr is actually quite helpful in that respect. Go to "Your Stats", click on an image and you can see exactly where the views have come from, right down to specific threads on forums etc. The vast majority of my highly viewed photos have been found via Yahoo Image Search.

It's one of those places where you get what you put in though, I know a few people who crave views/comments/favourites, and they work the system really well to boost that as much as possible. Yet you can also find truly breathtaking images where hardly anyone has viewed them. My main concern is making sure I tag my images with the lens I used, as I'm forever searching for 'Sigma 50-150' or 'Nikon 10.5' etc to get an idea of what a specific lens is capable with.

Im exactly the same, the more tags you have, the more views you get. Not that its all about getting the views etc, but its just nice having your photo looked at.

I must admit when i first started on flickr, i didnt bother tagging anything, and just got the views from the groups i was in etc, but now i have seen large numbers of google searches and yahoo searches. Its always nice to know people from the outside are looking in :)

I make my pictures easier to find, based on what I would want to see if searching for something.

The main two things are to tag your images, and to add your photos to groups. I always try to tag my images with the camera make and model I used, a description of the lens (e.g. "Sigma 120-300"), then a bit of basic info about the photo (e.g. Vauxhall Astra, Castle Combe Circuit)

I don't find a lot of the groups that useful, but it' worth adding your better shots to relevant groups. After an event at Castle Combe, for example, I always pick out a few of the better ones and chuck them in the Castle Combe group.

I've no idea if those things work, I don't use it for promotion as such, more to try and be useful. As I mentioned a few posts up, I love sitting on Flickr for ah hour or so occasionally and just searching for something, be it a specific lens or location, I therefore tag my images based on the assumption that there are others who use Flickr in the same way.

Just over a year I think. Looking at the stats it gets a good solid 20 or more hits a day from Yahoo Image Search, so I imagine there is some search term that brings it up quite highly ("Ford GT" or something)

Lots of my Goodwood Festival of Speed pics are a bit like that (a good 10 or more with 1000+ views), I guess it's quite rare to see 'action' pics of some of those cars.

I don't usually take any notice to be honest, they aren't my best pics by a long way, comments and/or favourites are usually a better indicator of quality (unless you are one of those people that submits your pics to the 'comment on 5 and move along' type groups)

I got caught by one of those last night as I'd forgotten why I hadn't posted to RAW Street Photography for a while.

Logged on this morning - 3 comments for a pic, lovely.

Opened pic. Three logos with no further comment blinking back at me.:nono:
 
I dont think those 'comment and move on' groups are completely pointless. I was fave'd by one only yesterday, and my pic was 3 pages into the group.

Regarding stats... My most popular is also down to Google image search. But when i follow the link in the stats, I can't even find my pic :shrug:

I can't see why they'd make it a fave either. Afterall, the composition isn't great, the highlights are blown and there's practically no detail in the sky at all.

Some people eh, you just can't understand them can you.

I like Flickr, but do hate it at times. 90% of the people on there are morons who just post crap photos of their dogs and just post stupid ugly GIFs all over your comments becuase they saw your photo in a group.

Seriously, most of the photos on Flickr are utter rubbish.
 
I've had a fair few people on deviantART favourite my nude/lingerie work, and they've got no owkr of their own and their fav galleries are full of nothing but naked/near naked women, but I only generally block the people who leave lewd comments. If all someone can contribute to a site is franticly clicking 'add as favourite' then that's up to them, it's their choice to be a loser. Apart from the people who have a legitimate fascination with that type of photography, who are unfortunately labelled as perverts. But as I understand it that group is sadly a minority.
