to the best of my knowledge the only nikon body that comes close 2 the 5dmk2 is the d3x and at £4800 its a massive price difference, and still the mk2 has less noise at high iso.
dpreview shows it against the d700 in their tests and the 2 bodies r not in the same league

dont want to offend anyone, as i said i only use nikon but they need 2 raise the game again 2 stay on top IMO.
cheers

Well since I use D3 and D3x bodies, that's all right then...
I wouldn't know about the cheaper models...lol

If you define resolution as the only thing that counts.

I'll sit on the fence here.

I love my D700 but have only ever used Nikon SLR's so it's really all I know. I also love the Canon G10 that we use for diving.

Canon's rugged compacts blow the competition completely out of the water, both literally and metaphorically. A few months ago, Digital Photo did a comparative review of six rugged compacts. The example photos taken underwater were most illuminating. Or, in some cases, not. The Canon was the winner on image quality by a long margin. One of the others (I can't unfortunately remember which manufacturer) was quite good, two were unacceptably bad and the final two were a sick joke.

I :love: Canon & Nikon! :naughty::lol::p I'm a Bicamera :lol::p

Hi
I was a Canon man for 25 years before changing to Nikon.
These are my thoughts, Canon produce very tight well rounded cameras which i felt were well priced and worked well with L glass lenses.
I found the AF to be very poor compared to the Nikon and the total lack of user control with only simple basic menus.

I found Nikon to be more suitable to me as the D300 is well equiped with AF, good image quality at high ISO and the camera can be customised with the extensive menus far greater than the Canon.

For me i would say if you are looking for a creative camera and you have a bit of knowledge go with a NIkon and never look back, however a Canon is a better choice as a first SLR, but this is just my opinion.

Pentax? someone was rumoured to have one, but that was just a rumour.....

No, it's true! Beautiful work from the top of a mountain with her 67II.

I personally prefer canon high end more than nikon but then i hate all amateur canons such as the 300D right up to the 1000D same with nikon if your going for nikon go for a high end one like a D300 or something same with canon best to look at them first though

yeah I'll have the Hassleblad if i can afford it

My opinion is that you should buy whatever your mate has so you can share lenses etc.
