What is your most favourite film?

Speaking of the Coen Brothers, I went to see A Serious Man last night at my local indie cinema.

Turns out it doesn't start till friday, and I didn't read the times properly.

I felt like the world's biggest tool, and to make matters worse, had to go to Cineworld.

Too many good ones to pick just one.

As others have already mentioned, Shawshank Redemption, Fargo and the original Alien are all very good.

I also enjoyed Arlington Road, American Beauty and Butterfly Effect.

I think the Bourne films should get a mention if only for the fact that they gave the Bond franchise a kick in the unmentionables, forcing them to re-think all the gimmicks and 'play it for laughs' of recent years, which resulted in a much more gritty and enjoyable film with Daniel Craig's first outing as Bond in Casino Royale.

Sorry to disappoint but the second was rubbish :(

bummer... I'll wait for the DVD then.

I watched the Moon afew nights ago, cool film, I did think the twist at the end was kinda ironic though.

Only one . . . It's a wonderful life. Frank Capolla and James Stewart at their finest.

I just love James Stewart, I think of the Hitchcock films mostly, most are fab, I think rear windows a fave, but only just.

1st once upon a time in America 2nd tombstone with kurt russell and val kilmer / brilliant

How do you mean ironic?

Not wanting to spoil it for anybody to much..

I found, I was lead down a road of feeling sorry for the 'chaps' ...only to find that although they discover the horror of their morally disgusting situation...they then leave the rest to face the same.

So at the very end, I found I couldn't give a fig about him after that final ‘jaunt’, in-fact the whole film then simply convey everything that’s bad about human nature ...contempt breeds contempt and to heck with the rest kinda thing.

Which I found Ironic considering the compassion I had for them oh but a few minutes earlier...perhaps that was the point I thought, to show how shallow a human could be.

How did you feel at the end?

lol ...you can't have you forgotten already! ;)

Just remembered another cracker - Enemy at the Gates.

That is a cracker! one I could watch a few times.

how about...

Sexy Beast with a stunning perforaces from Ray Winstone and Ben Kingsley. The Wrestler, loads of hype but Mickey Rourke really was excellent ...I'm aslo very fond of The Dish with Sam Neill.

Just remembered another old time favourite - GEORDIE
Its about a wee skinny Highland Laddie that takes a Charlie Atlas body building course and goes on to represent Great Britain in the Olympics in Australia. He goes on strike coz he insists on wearing his Kilt. He eventually takes his turn in throwing the hammer and his first 2 throws are diabolical making him the laughing stock of the Olympics - THEN he thinks of his girlfriend, Jean back in his native Glens.
When he imagines her voice saying "come awa ma Wee Geordie" he goes on to throw a new World Record.
I always get emotional with National Pride whenever I see this film which sadly isn't out on DVD

B&W = Kind hearts and coronets.

Colour = Chitty Chitty bang bang.

Can't really say I have a favourite film, my film of last year without question would be

In Bruges

everybody i've recommended it to has said how much they enjoyed it, it's quite violent but funny and very well written and acted

A review on IMDB made me laugh, an American had written "Colin Farrell plays a convincing Irishman" :bonk:

In Bruges was excellent actually. Going to watch Inglourious Basterds tonight too.
