In Bruges was excellent actually. Going to watch Inglourious Basterds tonight too.
i'd be interested in your opinion, I paid good money to watch that and didn't think much to it

Can't really say I have a favourite film, my film of last year without question would be
In Bruges
everybody i've recommended it to has said how much they enjoyed it, it's quite violent but funny and very well written and acted
A review on IMDB made me laugh, an American had written "Colin Farrell plays a convincing Irishman" :bonk:

Not wanting to spoil it for anybody to much..
I found, I was lead down a road of feeling sorry for the 'chaps' ...only to find that although they discover the horror of their morally disgusting situation...they then leave the rest to face the same.
So at the very end, I found I couldn't give a fig about him after that final ‘jaunt’, in-fact the whole film then simply convey everything that’s bad about human nature ...contempt breeds contempt and to heck with the rest kinda thing.
Which I found Ironic considering the compassion I had for them oh but a few minutes earlier...perhaps that was the point I thought, to show how shallow a human could be.
How did you feel at the end?

No they don't, they go back to earth to break the story...
That's why you can hear news reporters at the end telling the disgusting story of the company, and the other sacrifices himself for the good of the other one.
Did you miss that bit?
I think this quote is applicable here: "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace."
Oh that's easy. For me, it only has to be "The Iron Giant". It's a cartoon about a boy who befriends a 100 foot giant robot. It's not so much the quality animation but more to do with the general story. It's ending alway makes me blubber like a girl on PMT.

Powerful film ...especially, like me, if you've a brother you haven't spoken to for a while. I have now.
Thought that was gonna be a bit too daft for me ...now I can't wait for the second!!
I rate the garden fence crashing scene as surpassing Delboys fall through the bar.
PMSL every time.
Hot Fuzz I mean, I'm not sure if your referring to something blue.![]()
This is another fave of mine, I wonder if anyone can name it?
![]()

or Mon Oncle by Jaques Tati.
If I was going to be nailed to a tree for not chosing i'd pick The Day The Earth Stood Still ( Michael Rennie)
I really like Some like it Hot.
Happy Gilmore![]()
I think Casino Royale has been the only film to really impress me.
The first time i watched it i literally spent most of it on the floor laughing/crying uncontrolably! Specially cus i was with friends and we were reinacting the scenes then laughing for ages again.Brilliant film, I've watched it dozens of times and still laugh out loud!
This film destroyed any chance (real or not) of Firefly returningSerenity.
Brilliant!![]()
The 1967 version perhaps.
Steve.
Nicely quoted out of context there. Are you an MP?
Finally going to see 'A Serious Man' today![]()
As I also love sci-fi films from the 50s and 60s, I'd agree with that one as well as The Day The Earth Caught Fire (1961) with Leo McKern. As a kid, I used to love The Time Machine (1960) - this is the Rod Taylor version. I still like it, and it's far better than the remake from a few years ago.
I loved The Time Machine, and james mason films such as Journey to the centre of the earth
This is a bit of a bargain if you're into classic sci fi

A few years ago, our local cinema started running some old films. Some Like it Hot on a big screen is great. Especially the bit where Marilyn Munroe is singing whilst sitting/laying on the grand piano!
They also put on The Marx Brothers' A Night at the Opera. That was good on the big screen too.
