What is your most favourite film?

depending on what you mean by film, either:

Ilford FP4+

or Mon Oncle by Jaques Tati.

Steve.

This year... Dean Spaley and Julia.

Julia is a black comedy thriller that turns into a nightmare.

Dean Spaley seems like a costume drama but turns out quite fantastic. ..possibly one of the most unusual stories for a while. If you like animals, or have a pet you'll love it.

Best ever! ...well I guess the Shawshank redemption, blade runner is still fab ...then theirs the more unusual stuff, Like Duets for example ...

Edit: lol, we are in out of focus aren't we. :suspect:

Steve.

Just looked that up, I think.

Sounds like a very interesting plot, I'll have to track it down.

Monsieur Hulot visits the technology-driven world of his sister, brother-in-law, and nephew, but he can't quite fit into the surroundings

Reminds me of another I'd like to see again. Idiocracy.

That's a tough one for me, and I couldn't honestly pick one film alone.

I like the Hammer films mainly from the 1950's and 60's, but equally I love most British comedy films from the same period.

This year, Moon. Absolutely genius, flawless acting, and a twist worthy of The Usual Suspects. I sincerely recommend it.

I couldn't possibly tell you my favourite film of all time as I've seen so many it's absolutely stupid.

Big Hammer fan here too. I used to hide behind the sofa but nowadays its more of a warm cosy feeling. ...be cool if they ran that lot again on TV I think.

Sadly, they don't show too many on TV these days. I've been buying the Hammer titles on DVD as they've been released, but there are still quite a number of them missing.

I remember as a kid being allowed to stay up late to catch an old Peter Cushing or Christopher Lee horror film. As you say, they were considered scary back then, but now they are more nostalgic than frightening.

Tri-X

the Blues Brothers (NOT the 2000 one!)

China Town

Shawshank Redemption

Matrix Trilogy, or most WW2 movies.

Blood Simple (Coen Brothers first) - absolute classic!

Ooh there's so many films I love but I think The Deerhunter takes some beating.

Between 3. It's either Grind, Saving Private Ryan, or Fight Club.

Hard to pick just one......

The Producers (the original Zero Mostel/ Gene Wilder version)

Has to be Snatch for me

So many to choose from, but if it's my favourite film ever and one that I'd watch again and again then there's no contest.

Alien . . . the first one.

It can't compete with more modern films for special effects, but it doesn't do a bad job. And for storyline and suspense I haven't seen anything else to beat it.

JAWS for me, but enjoy a western - Eastwood, Wayne etc

Oh that's easy. For me, it only has to be "The Iron Giant". It's a cartoon about a boy who befriends a 100 foot giant robot. It's not so much the quality animation but more to do with the general story. It's ending alway makes me blubber like a girl on PMT.

Here's the clip of that ending: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UkZOZIO63I&feature=related

Thanks for all the answers and I have to say I not only heard of a couple...lol.

Mine is Meet Joe Black.

The Straight Story

 Powerful film ...especially, like me, if you've a brother you haven't spoken to for a while. I have now.

Transformers

Thought that was gonna be a bit too daft for me ...now I can't wait for the second!!

I rate the garden fence crashing scene as surpassing Delboys fall through the bar.

PMSL every time.

Hot Fuzz I mean, I'm not sure if your referring to something blue. ;)

Here it is ...lol

Only one . . . It's a wonderful life. Frank Capolla and James Stewart at their finest.

Why is that? Does he rust away at the end?
