Hi all

Just interested to know what peoples favourite purchase of all time is... It could be anything... your first digital camera if you moved over from film... a gadget you bought which really helps you out ion a certain situation when you have strugled for years... It could be a plastic bag for all I know!

I think mines is an ultrapod II... Used it allot when travelling light instead of taking a tripod... It conects to railings, trees, anything and acts as a little tripod too... Def been huge advantages...pictures/£ on any other photography item i've bought!

What's yours?

a set of ebay triggers, they got my flash off camera and opened my eyes to proper lighting

My Canon 300 2.8L bought just before the credit crunch... one month later the same lens at the same shop and the same advert has a 900 quid price increase :)

Samsung GX10, My first DSLR. Buying this stirred up my passion in photography and led me to buy all the extra kit I now own.

:D

Perspectives by Don McCullin, opened my eyes to a whole new world and helped shape my career.

Pocketwizards :)

Whilst I love my camera and all it's trappings my favourite " photography accessory" has to be my TP fleece!
What a great buy that was, soooo warm and snuggly and excellent quality!

This post was made without bribes taken from the Admin. :D

My D700, no contest.

My D70s. No piece of photographic equipment, no book, no roll of film, nothing, has given more pleasure or done more for my photography than my first digital camera. The whole process of film dulled photogrpahy for me. The instant results of digital gave my photography a whole new lease of life.

Yep.. my D700 as well. It felt like an achievement scraping the money together for that! It's everything I could possibly want or need in a camera. I can't imagine what else they could do to top it.

Simple... My 400D, because without it I wouldn't have ended up here where I am today.

My 1st dslr

 canon 10D

I have some great kit now but that was the one

md:thumbs:

Most bargainous: 10-22mm, 430EXII, 400D and a couple of other lenses. Sold the other lenses and the 400D, got the flash and the 10-22mm for under £200

Favourite: 350D, my first DSLR

My Kenko extension tubes and reversing ring coupled with 50mm f/1.8

While more expensive gear I have help my ego and make photography a bit more pleasurable, but these tubes made my macro & close-up photography go beyond anything I could have imagined. I just love them.

My Canon 24-105 IS, other tog things may come and go but don't think I will ever part with it.

Although I have a Canon 24-105 F4 L (which is excellent), my one-third-of-the-price Siggy 10-20 produces some STUNNING images.

The one that stands head and shoulders above all the stuff I've bought since was the Pentax MEf that I got as a young teenager.

After the 110 cameras, the Zenith, and the Richoh, I so felt like I'd arrived in the world of quality camera gear.

:A 95cm and 120cm octobox from Smickphoto huge difference to lighting.

Nikon FM2 - no longer have it, but it was a class act.

A yes... I remeber my grandad handing me his Pentax K1000 about 20 years ago... and then I regret the day I ever sold it... The stupidest thing I ever did... I sold it to get money together for an EOS3... I really do regret it! It was what I learnt my photography on... and it was my grandads camera... I asked him at the time if I could sell it and he said of course it's yours... but I still wish I'd never...

Like you that's when I moved on and got into photography... but I guess in terms of the original question... I never bought it so it does not count!

It wasn't my first SLR, but when I got a spanking new Nikon FM I was over the moon.

Twas many moons ago and was a package

Halina 35x with split image rangefinder attachment and a Weston light meter.

Ah those were the days, no AF, meters in cameras, a snap shot had to be taken by guessing an aperture with enough DOF to get the image in focus.

Learnt a lot from that kit and still own it today.
