I didn't see any sexism or bullying in this thread, although I've read it through a couple of times just to see what could raise such concerns. Perhaps it's recent news that's making some people a little sensitive. Not necessarily sexist, though that could be an unconscious factor. She was made fun of for saying she had “all the big DSLR” which would be fair enough if jokingly put to a long time member (happens all the time, just leg-pulling) but not in this case to someone with 7 posts, albeit joined in 2020.
I don’t think @AndrewFlannigan meant it that way though I don’t think he’s correct. However maybe it is affecting your comment since you didn't say how many men had been killed in the same period. Though it’s always unwise to quote figures over such a short period especially if the numbers are small as in this case since it’s a rare occurrence no matter how serious

I think you just need to stop taking things so seriously haha! Yes, I do have a lot of DSLR's but of course, I don't have them all it's called exaggeration. I apologise for my poor word choice but just as a little life tip, don't take everything someone says seriously as a lot of the time people are lying or ... exaggerating! p.s when people post an innocent question they are usually looking for some advice and not for someone to cry about their word choice. Thank you! I can tell you all i am not a spam account or anything. I am 20 and just trying to find my way in life and photography haha! I am sorry to the people who I have somehow upset by simply asking what camera everyone recommends I take on my first holiday abroad alone. I haven't been able to reply yet to all the comments as I posted the question around 7am yesterday and then started a 12-hour shift so I do apologise for my later reply to all those keyboard warriors sat at home! Hi guys I am an experienced photographer who owns their own photography business and I have all the big DSLR’s and lenses.
However, I am going on holiday to Australia next year and I can’t decide what camera to take I don’t want to take my DSLR and big lenses as it’s too much to carry around. I was thinking of getting a new GoPro but I just don’t like the fact that I can’t zoom in on things.
Any suggestions on good travel cameras which won’t break the bank as it’s only for holiday and I may also get one of the older gopros to take with a compact camera too!

- Obviously you need to decide what you may want to snap. Perhaps look at what you do other than product photography.
- Maybe your phone is enough.
- If you are photographing in/around water the the Olympus Tough type, the sensor size is similar to a phone but waterproof and may do good close ups.
- There is a whole class called travel zooms usually with a 4/3, 1” or smaller sensor. Dpreview compares them. I think that’s probably what most people choose if photography is not the main aim Probably good for all the unplanned wildlife in Australia.
- The HCB version with the equivalent of a Fuji X100 series with a 35/40mmm.
- Or people choose one of their mirrorless dslrs with a compact zoom and maybe a pancake 40mm.
- I bet that often they end up not being able to make up their minds and decide to ’take the lot’ and then leave the heavy bag in their hotel room anyway

It’s a bit of both actually, it’s Australia so beaches and also cities. I should have stayed in my question, sorry! I think I am going to just take an older gopro for the watersports but I was just a bit stuck on the compact camera side of things as I don’t ever use compact cameras so I wasn’t sure what were the good ones on the market at the moment
