What are you currently reading..

I've just finished that trilogy -
What, all 5 books? ;)

Im looking forward to re-reading, Shout at the Devil, Eye of the Tiger, Hungry as the Sea.

If you've not read Birds of Prey yet, thats a cracker too if I recall. Hal Courtney in that one.

Theres actually 12 Courtney novels , but I meant the first three, which cover Sean Courtneys life ( when the lion feeds, the sound of thunder, and a sparrow falls)

Personally I think Triumph of the Sun is probably the best courtney book , although the best smith overall is a hard call - I like Eagle in the Sky and gold mine (although the latter could have been more fully developed)

You could even open your window and with an easterly wind blowing you could shout.......

Anyway am just going to bed as I have run out of my birthday Cider

Was reading Oscar Wildes "The Canterville Ghost" (Recoveeed Thread Drift) and it is a really good read!!! Recommended (Honestly).

Recently finished (re)reading The Passion by Jeanette Winterson, as last night I went to a new book group where the them for the first meeting was "bring your favourite book and talk about it", with the idea that the book everyone reads for the next meeting would be chosen from those brought. So when it came to the vote after everyone had talked about their book (or books in some cases), my book came out top.

Not entirely sure how that happened, as I did my usual thing when talking to a group of people and forgot everything I wanted to say so just waffled!

A few of my comic subscriptions have turned up in the last couple of days so those next, then 'House of the spirits' by Isabel Allende, a new author to me.

No dispute that Those in Peril is the worst?

My Dad reckons Rage was one of his best so there's a couple there including 'Triumph' for me to look out for.

Just finished Ash by James Herbert. Currently reading The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith (didn't know it was JK Rowling when i got it). Ive got loads of the Odd Thomas books on my Nook as well so will carry on with those (4 onwards) when i finish my current read.

Speaking of Books.....and therefore characters; I believe Jack Reacher premiers on SKY tonight. Do I, or don't I .......?

the general take is if you just think of it as mission impossible 6 its not too bad a film - just don't be expecting it to be anything like the book

See, I like the midget Tom Cruise. I've just never seen such tragic mis-casting in my life :shake:

Wrong decision. It was pants. There's a couple of hours of my life I'll never get back :(

being based on 'one shot' i'm not entirely surprised - there's no where near enough action in that book to make a decent film. If it were 'die trying' on the other hand (but not with the midget purlease)

Across the nightingale floor by lian herne. Great book if you are into samurai's, old Chinese ways, etc

Thanks... sample downloaded! Don't let a Samurai hear you call him Chinese though! ;)

I was going to say Asian... But didn't want to forget about all the other Asians cultures.

I have got the other books and they great, just Re reading this.

Just started reading Start the Car: The World According to David Lloyd, looks like an amusing read.

Now funnily enough I quite fancy that. He's always made me chuckle. :D

Currently reading Team Spirit. Biography from one of the skippers sailing the clipper around the world race.

'last chance to see'

is that the original one with Douglas Adams , or the update with Stephen Fry ?

Personally I'd recommend reading both , as its really interesting to see what's worked and what hasn't. (the first one is out of print I think, but you can get is s/h on amazon)

Also if you want more background on some of the projects there in "Gerald Durrell's Army" by Edward Whitley is definitely worth a look too

Read it yet? Cos oddly, his views on the future of cricket turned me right off Bumble! :|

I'm reading Alan Coren's 69 Not Out - which hasn't got anything to do with cricket [not so far, anyway!]

Ive tried a few of the Sci-Fi masterworks series and Philip K Dicks novels are easily the most approachable and enjoyable. Ubik and Penultimate Truth so far.

I need to go through this thread thoroughly, once i finished the one i'm on now i could do with some new Authors :D

The original, although I fancy the Fry one to see his take on it
