Weird sarnie fillings.

When I was a kid Mum would give us sandwiches that would drive the health brigade crazy these days.

One was lettuce and sugar.

The other was beef dripping and salt.

Both were fantastic.

Banana and sugar here,
and yes the beef dripping with salt was excellent
(they would probably both taste like crap now though :D )

I don't think this is particularly weird, but everyone else seems to think it's disgusting so I'm going with my comfort food of cod roe spread on cold toast (kind of an open sandwich)
Used to eat this all the time when I was young, mind you I was working as a chip boy in a fish shop :-)

My fave sarnie filling is Pot noodle, it can be a bit messy so its best to eat it naked, in the bath.

Peanut butter and pickled red cabbage. Usually eaten post xmas as its the only time we ever had the red cabbage in the house!

I worked with an old boy years back who had 2 rolls with banana and black pudding every morning.

My dad was a sucker for lettuce and sugar! You are the only person I've ever known to have it.. I have to confess it's bloody lovely

Doesn't sound too outrageous :)
in fact sounds like one for the "must try list" :)

How about we stick a raw egg in it too . . . just in case it isn't weird enough already?
Good idea, however too me that would be a waste of a nice egg. I can't stand Pot Noodle, prefer to make my own.

my 3 year olds often get a slice of toast in the morning (amoung other foods obviously). Watched one put the peanut butter slice onto the marmite slice and make a sandwich. Strangely he enjoyed it. But. He is 3!

Bananas. ..another for the yuck list.

The wife seems to think that my combo of Spam and salad cream is disgusting. Yum yum

Spam is very underated IMO. I would try salad cream, but prefer lashings of English mustard or good horseradish with lettuce and tomato.

I prefer Branston pickle personally, with or without thickly sliced tomato :)

Ok so I officially hate you lot :bat:

After reading this thread I remembered one of my favs, Fishfingers and tomato ketchup, knew I had some
fish fingers in the freezer, but no ketchup and all the shops closed
