I wish you the best of luck with your Audi. I had an Audi 80 back in 2000. It was wonderful and "Yes!", the indicators and speedo did work. It was however, difficult to keep in the nearside lane on motorways!!! :rolleyes: Fork Sprung Derk has Tekenit! ;)

I deliberately haven't kept up with anything since I retired. Cars, phones, computers... None of it, but I've recently I've been watching reviews of electric cars by this guy...

I'm really not looking forward to just about every control being on a finger print and smudge covered tablet glued to the facia and the thought of it makes me think it's a safety hazard as it surely takes the drivers attention away from the road and driving but it's allowed so what do I know. I suppose it's just a different way of driving which people brought up to constantly fiddle on phones and tablets will love but give me switches and dials every single time :D

No touch screens at all in the Q2, my 7 year old Mini has had one from new...

WCMUT is that after suffering with a bit of arthritis in one knuckle for a few years and it progressing to a point where every g*lf shot was causing significant pain (to the point of me considering giving the stupid game up!), I decided to try fatter grips on the sticks. It's worked! It's only a millimetre or two extra diameter but that's 1/8th to 1/4 of an inch in circumference which has made all the difference.
Tried all the lotions and potions on the joint but none have touched the problem.

Neighbour phoned me today about a fence between us that came down in the recent storms. I missed the intial call and got a voicemail. After listening to it, I wasn't sure what to expect but after speaking to them, they've offered to help with the costs of repairing it.

It cheers me up to know that people can be very decent. (y)

Just to add to this...

As a "proof of concept", I only had one club fattened up when I played on Tuesday but since it seemed to have worked, I had 2 more done to play with today. It has taken 12 shots off my score, meaning that my handicap will now be falling to what it should be rather than what it's crept up to because the pain has screwed my game up! (For those who understand these things, I scored 23 Stableford points this morning, with recent scores being around 12.)

My pal made his comeback today. Not played since November when he had 2 rheumatic knuckles replaced.
He has gone to mid size + softer grips and he says he wishes he had done it years ago.
As an aside, I won our fiddle today with 39 points ( off 14). Ailments have dragged me back in the last couple of years. If bits stop dropping off I could have a decent season.
 
One detail I missed is that we (at 60, I'm the youngest of the group by at least 10 years!) only play 9 holes, so 23 is doing quite well! We play twice a week and (when the real tees are open...) play the "back 9" (different tee positions) on the second day.
Glad your buddy's getting sorted - 3 of our group are coming back slowly after knees or hips. Might have to start looking to see if a replacement knuckle is a possibility for me...
Over the past year, my h'cap has gone up from 24 to 28.5. I reckon it should be back to 24 by the time we're back on proper tees.

And, just to get back properly on topic!!!

Finding out that changing the headlight bulb was easy!

The previous model I could change the nearside one with a struggle but the offside was impossible without dismantling half the car. I used to pay the extortionate price of a bulb from the dealer because the would fit it.

We went into town today and had a meal. They do a three course meal deal with a couple of choices for each course. For starter we both had potato skins (you get a spicy Thai source and and garlic source,) I had a Margarita pizza and Mrs WW had some sort of pasta dish and for sweet we both had Tiramisu and this came to under £9 each although drinks were extra but reasonably priced and the total bill came to just under £23.

To me these seem like take away prices and I don't know how they do it for the money. If you don't go for the meal deal Mrs WW's pasta dish alone would have cost over £9. It's the second time we've been and on both occasions we couldn't fault the service or the food.

Well done them :D
 
I took one of my cars into a main dealership today and that's not something I've done for quite some time. I didn't get the car back today as they said they'd need it for two days so this is only a first impression... apart from being eye wateringly expensive... so far I have to say I am very impressed as the service I got from phoning them to dropping the car off and looking around the showroom was just excellent and much better than I got from Merc and Porsche when I had those.

Lets hope this good service extends to the service department too and they do a good job :D

Audi Q2. And I had a call from them today, a follow up to make sure everything was OK and there were any questions. I have to say, the buying experience of Yeovil Audi has been on another level. I had 5 Mini's & 1 BMW from the same dealer when we lived in London, and they were never as informative, helpful and just nice as the guys from Audi.

Makes all the difference when the dealers are helpful and decent it’s a big part of the reason why our last few cars have all been Toyotas the dealer is way better than the other local dealers
 
Had a pretty awful day here with one thing and another but then I got an email.... and it's inviting Mrs WW to either a group or individual ceremony for citizenship :D Which is very nice :D We haven't received any official notification by letter that her application has been successful and we haven't received any citizen / ID card. Maybe they'll be along shortly.

It's been a long and very expensive process but it looks like it may be nearing the end :D

Lots of people go to specialist immigration solicitors and get them to do the work but we've seemingly managed to do it all ourselves and have so far navigated the five year route including the Marriage Visa, two Further Leave to Remains and the Citizenship Visa.

I took my Evoque in to get a recall issue done and to get a couple of niggles looked at and the dealership have been really good. There's an Audi dealer nearby and I was thinking about taking a look at the Q2/Q3 or a newer or new JLR thing but I might just keep what I've got for now.

You have to do something similar if you want to become a citizen of Oz so its not just us picking on "out of staters"

I watched something recently in which someone advocated asking "Compered to what/where?" to UK knockers.

I'm not that much of a royalist as they seem to have done just about everything to alienate people but despite its issues and some of the people in it I do think the UK and many people in it do still have qualities so yes, I'd do it.

And on all this. We met a new immigrant family from Nigeria at church and they're very nice. Talking to the guy was interesting. He said the UK is like heaven and that if the UK was next to Nigeria most of the Nigerian population would move to the UK. He actually said he wished we could go back to the days of empire. He was very passionate. I did have a Nigerian love interest a while back and she had very similar views. Someone on this site once said something to the effect that I've "loved" my way through the UN and whilst I wouldn't quite say that I have met quite a few immigrants who are very positive about the UK, Mrs WW being one of them. There are things she criticises including customer service, cleanliness, the behaviour of some British people in public and our politics which seem to be getting as bad as in Thailand. She will attend and she'll give the pledge.

WCMUT was a walk up the Otter to a delicious lunch. Improved by plenty of herons (grey and white), a stack of 5 buzzards and a lesser spotted HRD Vincent (seen twice, once in Budleigh Salterton and again at our lunch destination.)
 
WCMUT (actually both of us) was a visitation by 6 Long Tailed Tits.

They stayed relatively longer than usual, flitting around our weeping Birch tree before going to another tree then off.

Such a smile making delight to see them :D
 
Always lovely to see LTTs, even if it does tend to be a bit of a flying visit (sorry about the pun but didn't know how else to describe it!)
 
Notified that I will be getting an additional 25 pence a week pension in June :woot:
