WCMUT....what cheered me up today

No pain , no gain.
Before I had the stent fitted this year I couldn’t keep up with the wife when we were out, now I can do better and keep up with her, if she attempts to enter a shop I’m near enough to nudge her forward and keep her outside, saving me a fortune. Doctor told me to exercise to hit the pain and ease on through it, I just think of the credit card bill and keep going.

(y) or should it be

Our new security cameras are up and working today and looking back at what happened last night I was please to see a hedgehog wandering about the back garden :D

WCMUT?
The first visit from my new Grandson, Theo, who absolutely refused to be born..
He kept his mum waiting for 3 days of labour!
Eventually he had no choice :)

A nice day out at the Tour of Britain, a balmy 22°C on the moors.

Our first grandson was born on New Years Day 2022, the first baby to be born in the city .

Today he cut his first tooth.

We don't have children but when children in the wider family have been born I've always felt a great sense of relief that it's gone ok. Expect your family feel that too :D

Anyway. Congratulations on the new arrival :D

I sat here looking at the camera footage hoping our little visitor would come again and he did!

Mrs WW wants to buy him a little house in the hope he'll move in :D We'll put it next to the compost bin. It's years since I've seen one but I/we don't go out a lot in the dark these days. Really happy to see one :D

We have had a regular visitor for years, ours likes digestive biscuits and a bowl of water, put the the biscuits out at 10pm, was waiting for me the other night.

We leave water out but so far he's ignored it. It's proved a hit with the birds and the local cats too though.

We're just looking for a hedgehog house now :D

He was probably waiting for the result of the Conservative leadership contest to be out of the way so there'd be no distractions... :D

I'm sure he was just far too comfortable where he was :)

WCMUY was seeing a Tuna being carried from the boat to a restaurant. Guess what I had for dinner last night!

"Our" Hedgehog came back this morning at about 04:00 and spend the best park of an hour mooching around. This got me thinking about his timetable :D The first night we spotted him on our new cameras I think it was just after 23:00 but the next night he was here 21:15 but last night 4 AM. Aren't they creatures of habit?

So, if you have a hedgehog does he stick to a more or less regular timetable for his rounds or is he like our and all over the place?

We don't have a lot of recent info on the hedgehog(been using the trail camera to see if the mouse in the kitchen is still around), but in previous years we have had hedgehogs visiting the garden. The time they appeared varied quite a lot; sometimes as early as about 9pm, sometimes not appearing on the camera until 3 or 4 am.

I have heard hedgehogs can travel quite large distances (the Mammal Society website suggest 1-2 km a night), so perhaps your hog sometimes wanders.

I've not seen any of mine for awhile now, but Hoggy always turned up at dusk, and the others around midnight

Ours were quite regular at 10.30 ish with a repeat visit in the early hours- when he/she/they tended to be noisy, maybe first visit on outward bound and the second on the way back to nest?

Sounds just like ours :D

Mrs WW is pestering for a house for him.

If he did move in... Will he be frightened off by the occasional lawn mower or strimmer or are they heavy sleepers :D

Difficult to say. If you have somewhere out of the way and untidy(or undisturbed like behind a shed) in your garden he/she might already have moved in, or he/she might live elsewhere if it can get through fences. Either way it obviously finds your garden attractive and they are always a delight to see.

If you are up for DIY

As for placement, as the above guide says.....a quiet(er) out the way place

Seeing a Dragonfly, a Southern Hawker laying eggs in our new pond at the allotment that we only finished 2 weeks ago
had Common darters visiting the pond a few days after it was filled
also the council is putting in a small wildflower meadow right next to our plot so will have lots of insects to photograph next year :)

Mrs WW made a sort of banana cake filled with strawberry flavoured yoghurt. They're lovely :D

2 things today...

Brentford 0 - Arsenal 3 :giggle:

Mrs J made ginger cake, which was lovely with custard :)

Finally went to the South African butcher in Edinburgh. He also sells some groceries, so we bought biltong and rusks (these are 'grown up' rusks, not the baby ones!). Fabulous ...
