WCMUT....what cheered me up today

Those weren't red kites, they were vultures! ;)
Not a lot in it, they both scavenge dead stuff. :D

Do you buy in specially for them or just feed them meat scraps?
I still have a lot of day old chicks and quail left over from my falconry days.
plus I'll pick up any "Fresh" road kill on my travels,
Pheasants pigeons etc

I thought that was how you did your weekly shop. :p
The A11 through / around Thetford forest does a nice line in deer (y)

The A396 (the road to Mrs Nod's Mum) is dead badger central :( .

Far tastier apparently but it's not a taste I want to try!!!

Even with the quieter roads at the moment, there are several over the 15 or so miles between here and there. :(

Anyway, WCMUT is remembering how to reassemble a 6 segment puzzle ring that I haven't played with since before I was ill. I was planning on breaking it down slowly so I could see how to do it but fat fingers made from butter made the collapse sudden and unobserved!!!

When we lived on a farm, one of our cats won her title as the ultimate psycho cat by picking (and winning) a fight with a local badger set. Until we moved in, the badgers had established a path from their set, across a five acre field, through the hedge and round the walls of our house, on their way (via the farmyard) to the next field. The cat objected to this and on the third night we were there, all hell broke out sometime after midnight. To cut a long story short, the grass grew back over the badger track and I discovered a new one a few days later on the back field, a couple of hundred yards from the house.

By the time we'd lived there six months, the local dog owners had also learned to find alternative routes avoiding our gates. Dragging their animals past a large cat perched on one of the gate posts was such a... drag! :naughty:

She looks so innocent, doesn't she?

Brilliant! Don't know about innocent, that's a great example of a tuxie stare!

I had to look that up - didn't know that people called them that!

Odder still, her twin brother, who was even bigger than his sister, was a complete coward. He was known to back away from cats barely half his size, run for home at the sight of a distant dog and once got treed by an angry squirrel. Needless to say, he was hopeless as a mouser. His only redeeming function was as a substitute hot water bottle on cold moorland nights.

Trust him to find a "better" use for a small blanket laid on a bed... :wideyed:

I recall that about about three years ago there was a discussion on the radio about the NHS and one of the studio contributors said that because of the immense pressure on the NHS and the ever-lengthening waiting lists, not just for operations but seeing a consultant, she said that if she had to make savings on her budget ..the likes of gym membership, the last thing to go would be her private health care . Fortunately, I kept mine after retiring and have used it a few times since. This morning,I saw a consultant three weeks after being referred..nothing dire. My wife checked the waiting list ...15 months . The consultant wants me to have a scan and I have to have that authorised otherwise I could have had it this morning. Should I need surgery that would have been within a 4-6 weeks from previous experience..I count myself fortunate that I've been in a position to pay for it and whilst it's created a two tier system, which tugs at my conscience a bit, I've saved the NHS quite a lot over the years.Infact as far as I know the NHS are farming out particular operations/procedures to the private sector.

If anyone is in this position .ie what to cut back on, that lady's advice is worth considering. As with all insurance the value of it is realised when the need arises. The other option when faced with a long wait for a diagnosis is to pay to see a consultant and then go back into the NHS but any operation would no doubt involve a long wait unless it's an emergency..

I lost my company health insurance last year when the business was taken over. I’m now paying for it each month. Both my wife and I have had several uses for it. Seen the consultant within 2 weeks or referrals, MRI scan 3 days later, re-saw the consultant in less than a week and minor op within a further 2 weeks.

I've just had a look via Youtube..McGrath..btw. not McGarth ...esay done.:D

She's brilliant and unlike too many so-called comedians these days that get an OTT introduction only to fall flat, she's on the money. What greatly appealed to me too was that she's not PC. Love the 'Sluts for Islam' bit..lol.Here's a Youtube clip and there are others for anyone who would like to see more. Just taken the half-time break from Fulham v Leeds (1-1) so I'll go through more Youtube clips tomorrow. Glad you posted it.

I had no idea the stand up existed but I gather from the net the person here is Alice Marshall.

But you do know that's not the real Titania? Yes? :D

I'll watch more later :D

I got my Covid vaccine. Very well organised vaccine centre and didn't have to wait long at all. In fact I noticed that the queue outside the pie shop was about twice as long, but then the venue was on the borders of Stoke on Trent! ;)

Are they putting in a few wisdom teeth too?
:p

My last dentist screwed up with my denture that had three teeth, and refused to see me during lockdown last year so as I managed to get to another dentist she had to pull out three teeth the other week and today was to take a mold and get it sent off. Hope to have them in by this weekend.

It's terrible having to suck and slurp ones food without getting covered in it

I keep an eye on what China's doing these days and it greatly cheered me to read that, with an eye on Taiwan (as with Hong Kong) China decided to stop importing pineapples from Taiwan on the grounds that 'harmful organisms' were found on the pinapples. It's suggested that the true motive was to remind Taiwan how much it depended on trade with China. . Taiwan exports about 45,000 tons of pineapples ( 10% of exports) of which less than 1000 tons goes to Japan. This year 6000 tons has gone to Japan which has it's own disputes with China..Taiwan was a former colony of Japan, nevertheless, relations between the two countries are good so..the Japanese are clearing the supermarket (etc) shelves of the pineapples to help or, at least show solidarity with Taiwan. The people of Japan also remember that Taiwan was amongst the largest contributors in monetary aid (US$250 million) two days after the 2011 East Japan magnitude 9.0 earthquake struck which triggered a massive tsunami covering 200 sq. miles of coastal land. 20,000 declared dead or missing and half a million displaced.

Was going to put this in WAMT

I bought one of THESE 16 months ago to use on my chair. Went to pump up my tyres yesterday and there was a sudden pop and the rubber had come away from the connector (don't know what it's called but it's bottom right in the first picture) so the air was leaking out and it wouldn't go past 65 PSI (I normally bring them to 140 PSI).

Mrs F messaged Oasser last night (was ordered on her Amazon account) and received a reply first thing this morning asking for her contact details so that they could send a new one out. :)

An update.

I thought they were just going to send out a new adapter but a whole new unit has just arrived.

WCMUT? Moving Political crap to political crap thread where it belongs

Making a kilo or so of hummus. So much nicer than shop bought, especially when still warm!

So about 2am I was woken up by what sounded like a moaning noise, so I got up and slowly went out side to have a look and found my elderly neighbour had fallen on the steps so I phone 999 and they took her off to hospital as she had hurt her wrist. About ten minutes ago a knock on the door, to see a man and woman with some flowers as they gave them to me they said Thank you very much for helping our mother who is now out and back home.

Really made my day.

Rest are going in the Fuji thread.

Getting the first AZ jab. Hadn't expected to even have a sniff of the vaccine until June or July. May have to be careful not to do myself a mischief while giddy about having had it already

Well amused me, getting stuck in our Library shed this morning when the wind blew the door shut.
Went down to unlock it, didn't realise it didn't have a door knob on the inside
It could only happen to me, but I think I am going to suggest that a new door lock is fitted
which can be opened from the inside, I had my phone with me, many of the old people
don't

I did a similar thing - last minute visit to the toilet before I was due on stage only to discover no handle inside! [emoji23][emoji23] that was a bit stressful. I managed to get out and get on stage in time.... with no fingernails left. It was a sliding thing if I remember rightly.
