WCMUT....what cheered me up today

The police stopped a bloke at my local railway station for cycling on a crowded platform. <outrage>. It turned out to be Arnold Schwarzenegger. So they let him go.

The station is packed, as it's the last weekend of the Oktoberfest. Which brings in millions of visitors. Presumably thats where Arnie was heading. The beer tents usually invite the stars in for free food and beer.

The station is a terminus.

Picked out a nice birthday card for a relative but couldn't really remember all her address and put near Manchester, she rings up and says she got the card BUT next time put Cheshire not near Manchester. Took about posh, but the postman got it just right, cheers to that. :)
 
Glorious sunrise (from the dogleg on the 1st - shame it took me 2 shots to get there!) and some cobwebs on the mound near the 7th green. Shame I didn't play better but I don't really care, it's more to get me some exercise than to be a brilliant golfer!

I'd like to take the "proper" kit up there but it's at the furthest point from the clubhouse/car park and I'm lazy! Might take the X30 on Wednesday if the weather looks promising.
 
Is your golf bag on a trolley?
If you have a tripod, fix the proper kit to it, extend the legs, pop it in the bag, and just wheel it out there.
 
Yes but all the slots are filled with clubs. I suppose I could bungee the monopod to the side of it all though. As far as the etiquette side of it goes (cameras are slightly frowned upon on the course for some reason, much like jeans and T-shirts...), I reckon a few snaps with a real camera will be quicker than getting the phone out, getting the camera app up etc.! I'll check the weather for Wednesday morning.
 
If anyone frowns upon you, turn the 'pod mounted camera upside down, and tell them it's an experimental putter that films your technique for later review. :D
Then they'll think you're a nutter, and leave you alone. (y)

5 clubs are all you need, chuck the rest out and get that tripod in. I got down to 12 with 5 clubs:)

They know I'm a nutter!

I know I can get round with fewer clubs - probably better than I can with a bagful. Just a matter of deciding which to leave behind... I reckon D, 6, S & P would do the job reasonably as long as I kept it reasonably straight. Will have to experiment!

Wednesday or next week are probably the last chances for the Sun to be rising in the right place for the dogleg shot this year, although it might work with less mist on the flood plain and estuary. Not sure how long the cobwebs will stay for.
 
5 Wood, 5, 7 iron sand and putter. Use the 5 wood to get over the rough to the fairway, use it for the next shot or the 5 iron, use the 7 to run, chip and hit it high to smack in the middle off the green and remember a single putt, you've only given yourself 4. Driver is not good if you land in the semi rough.

I played from 1976 to 2009 and then resigned and picked up my camera. £500 per year subs, and paying out didn't stop there.
 
Oddly, I hit my drivers better and straighter than my irons, even off the fairway! I tend to use my 7 iron as a putter rather than a pitching wedge but can do the same with the 6. I don't use woods, although I do sometimes use an 18 degree hybrid. Could do with a putting lesson or 2 but the coaching team has changed so I might need to travel a bit (not so sure about the new pro!)
£500/year sub is cheaper than £13/round as long as you play at least once a week - I get out for 3-4 rounds to get my money's worth!!! It's only a 9 green course with a few extra tees but the views are lovely and it's a 2 1/2 - 3 mile walk which I wouldn't do otherwise. I only started playing 3 1/2 years ago (at 49 years old) and sometimes have grip problems (index fingers often don't grip at all...)
 
Great company, great local food, local drinks, +25oC clear blue skies .....

WCMUT was picking up a few pasties for the freezer. Lunch at the Port William at Trebarwith Strand followed by a wander down on the beach (as the tide was going out), a pootle round Tintagel while the veggie pasties were finishing in the oven and a stomp down to the end at Boscastle to work some of the pudding off!
 
Day off, phone rings, it's work :D Why am l smiling, it was offering me next Saturday off :banana:
 
I'd never walked up to anyone before in a bar and said "Did I see you on BBC TV in a freezer?" This happened to me tonight in a party in Munich. The guy chuckled and told me about when Kate Humble and James May made a live TV show at his place of work in the Mini factory in Cowley. The freezer was a cold climate vehicle test chamber that had made his glasses steam up on telly. But I still recognised him. It's a small world. I like to hang out with the stars.

Finally managing to ditch the shower of s*** that is commonly referred to as "Talk talk"
internet speeds went from less than 1 mbs to 23.5mbs in an instant :thumbs:

After nearly two years since i lost two rescue dogs that i had for over 15 years between them my wife and i finaly decided it was time to rescue another one.
It was a big decission for us as we know how big a commitment they are ,however we found one at a local rescue centre.......we decided to take him last week but only picked him up yesterday ..
He does have issues ,mainly never socialised or been on a lead before ,so lots of training needed ,what cheered me up was tonights walk he was responding to small sharp commands ,realy pleased with him.
