WCMUT....what cheered me up today

The joys of driving a 4x4!

Was 1/2 tempted by an old Series IIa petrol Landy at the show on Sunday - "Price on Application". As it happened, the owner appeared while I was looking at it so I applied. "Fifteen." "Hundred?" "Grand!" FTFAGOS! OK, it was on a fresh galvanised chassis and had been well built and finished but 15 grand for a 45 year old truck is extracting the micturition!

Don't feel too speshul :p
I drove over 400 miles today and in the first 10 miles had a van pull across the road in front of me :banghead:
A car pull ourt of a junction and almost hit me:banghead:, and a stupid female in a 4x4 decide to brake along side me as I was trying to join the dual
carraigeway and slowing to let her pass so I could pull in behnd, not enough room to accelerate even if I wanted too :banghead:
Heavy traffic on the M25 later and a lane closed, still people rushing down it to get in front, the standard of driing these days seems to have
deteriorated ;)
Edit to say: and the amount of idiots driving without lights in torrential downs pours on the M25

HOW MUCH ?????

good grief - and to think we sold ours for a pittance - both times

vicious speed bumps either end., that I wouldn't attempt at 15mph in my 4x4.

What I learned today BMW's really bounce well when they hit the ramp at Gods knows what speed, its worth while waiting a few seconds just to see the passengers head hit the roof lining. :)

A quick dab on the brakes just before you hit the ramp preloads the suspension and takes the shock out of driving over speed bumps, a lot of rally drivers use it when they know they are going to hit a bump or get airborne. It's surprising how quick, safe and comfortably you can negotiate speed bumps as a result, even the rubber ones that are supposed to be worse the quicker you drive over them.

Much easier, more comfortable and safer to slow down for them. (See Ingrid's post above re driving standards...)

All perfectly easy, safe and comfortable even in a car with sports suspension. Driving standards have nothing to do with it.

I just ignore them and let the air bags do their think. #justbargethrough

but we aren't talking about a rally course or race track, the road in question is a 30mph high street, the ramps are there to reduce speed, not for idiots to see how fast they can drive
over them, but nevermind you know everything about cars and driving so no point in reminding you about safety measures put in force for prats that feel the need to drive like morons

No one said we were driving on a rally course or race track. But I would say it is well worth having some tuition on both. It is surprising on how much of what can be learnt there that can be transitioned to everyday driving, allowing for better safer use of the road and driving more smoothly and more sympathetically towards the car. Speed ramps are just a measure, put there to stop people from speeding on roads that are otherwise used as rat runs, continuing to drive at the speed limit or just below is perfectly allowable and acceptable. No mention has been made of seeing how fast you can drive.

Welcome to my world (y)

I know that and you know that, but she didn't, I bet the passenger gave her an earful too, but she was past me before I had time to blink so I didn't see the result :D

Just a tad!

WCMUT was winning an as yet unknown sum of cash (well, credit in the clubhouse bar!) for managing a "2" this afternoon. Been saying since this spring that I wanted to drive the 3rd green from the tee and managed to do it - in a competition no less. The card says it's 338 yards and the measuring things agree with that but there's a hill to clear and run down. Wind was slightly in my favour and I must have got a lucky bounce but I still managed to hole a 4' put despite my excitement. Hopefully nobody else managed a "2", even on the par 3s - the pot gets shared between all the "2"s. Should be enough for a cuppa at least - maybe even a bacon sarnie as well! :D

maybe even a bacon sarnie as well! :D
As long as there is enough for that, you are well and truly sorted :D

Of the 6 people I know who were playing in the same comp, none of them managed a "2" and IIRC there were about 25 people in it, so if that ratio's about right, I stand to win a fiver or so, possibly a bit more (or less!). Of course, it cost me £3 to enter the comp and another quid to enter the "2"s sub-comp, so I'll only be a couple of quid up... Still well chuffed with both the "2" and managing to achieve this year's ambition.

Today I visited a site for the first time since I left an expensive torch behind nearly three weeks ago. It was still where I left it despite many visits by other people.

Thank you other people :D

Crumbs - there's a lot of folk who were not keeping their eyes open.

How well hidden was it ?

Finished a 3 day job in 2 days, and now my car glides along on coilovers as opposed to crashing and bouncing along on whatever the hell infernal mess Mitsubishi deemed to fit originally. Made missing out on a new lens totally worthwhile!

Sitting in Starbucks watching three young guide dogs in various stages of training, at the next table as their trainers enjoy a coffee whilst socialising the dogs.
Two birds, one stone and all that. :-)

The security guards in Morrisons, attempting to fathom the presence (apparently) of a Pokémon in aisle 17, and the players (all of them adults), that this has drawn in.
Priceless. It's a geek fest in there.

Finding out that my fluked "2" has earned me almost £30. Shame it has to be spent in the shop not the bar but I suppose I can find something to spend it on!

Balls. ;)

Still crap enough for good balls to be a waste of money because a) I lose a couple most rounds and b) the consistency they supposedly give will be completely negated by my incompetence! Besides, I have about 4 boxes of brand new ones from commercialmass (3 of them - commercialmasses, not boxes!) as well as close to a bin liner full of 1/2 decent pickups. Typically, I bought a new pair of shoes a couple of weeks ago when the outgoing pro was selling stuff off super cheap and have all the bats I need at the moment. I'm sure I'll find something! Although... One of the people I play with gets upset when I play with pink balls. :D

Well take your hand out of your pocket, its golf, not pocket billiards :p

THAT'S where I've been going wrong!!! :D

Using our vouchers for free coffee and cake in John Lewis's café. Even better than getting 2 pints of orange squash for 60p yesterday. Mind you, WAMY was a pay and display pub car park... £1/hour with a rebate of £1 against your first round.

WCMUT?
The idiot diagonally opposite, He normally goes off to work in a suit, so I assume he's an office worker.
Working topless this morning shift mud and bricks from out the rear of his house.
He's whiter than a shade of pale.

I just saw him a few minutes ago, still loading his skip, and he's now pinker than a Floyd!
That's gonna sting later. :D

And yes I am happy to be happy at someone else ( minor) misfortunes when they are arrogant arse's.

Be doing something out at the front and comment on his rising colour! But beware of schadenfreude, it has a nasty habit of biting people on the arris!!!

And it does often, although not like for like this time I am "nicely tanned" due to the amount of time I spend working outside.

ATCMUT - having my hair cut after 5 weeks of growth.

YATCMUT!!! A couple of small (Greek standard...) or large (pub measures...) Ouzos. Usually only have them on sunny evenings but after mowing the back lawn (Mahoooooosive [about 15 square metres!!!]), I needed a drink! Best shut the 'puter down before it kicks in - don't drink and post! :P

Wcmut the lovely weather. Wasn't it beautiful in the outer metropolitan area.

Bloody nice in the South East too. ;)
I've spent the last week in my garden...a bit of a transformation, and I love it.
Its not huge, but it's my little oasis. :-)

Bit too cloudy for my liking and didn't appear until around 11:30, hoping for better tomorrow, I plan on some extensive solar radiation on the psoriasis. ;)

I bought a garden bench via Shpock this morning. The seller bought it last weekend and assembled it, but it's too wide for their space.
What a shame.
An £80 bench for £20 ready built and picked up from three roads away.
Result!

That panned out really well, started cloudy, sun appeared, got out in sun, clouds reappeared, clouds covered sun and then rain. No sign of sun reappearing neither. :(

Wcmut. Weather is fantastic once again. Nice blue skies. So it would be rude not to fire this up:

Ordering a cheeseburger and being asked if I wanted cheese in it :LOL: still laughing, girl serving me wasn't with my answer.

and finding out from a TV prog earlier that you tell the sex of a snake with a stick, must remember to carry one at all time ;)
