WCMUT....what cheered me up today

Having finally got the new windscreen fitted, went for an impromptu blast up the motorway, sun low in the sky coming home and
I could see where I was going :)
£110 well spent should have sorted it ages ago (y)
Thanks to Nigel my mobile screen fitter, did a great job
 
Wcmut. This. A little touch in my Hotel room here in The Hague. Very welcome following a days hard work.

WCMUT was not having to have an MRI for a year (hopefully!) The tube through the local one isn't wide enough for me to lie comfortably in so it's 20 minutes of arm exercise while lying perfectly still. Never mind, a small price to pay for continued peace of piece of mind! Hopefully the surgeon won't take too long to tell me the results - not that I'm worried, just that it's nice to know. :D

AND, Mrs Nod is cooking me a special fish pie (smoked haddock, scallops and prawns) for being big and brave and not making a fuss. :)

Getting my van back from the workshop all fixed at last :) and a note in the log book complimenting me on how clean the cab was :)

LOL Nope, the minibar is included in my room rate :) So yes actually :) And breakfast is only £39...
 
The underground trains have a major points outage. Our train was stuck in a tunnel for 20 minutes. And was packed. So we were standing up the whole time. When we finally crawled to the next station they threw everyone off, and we had to walk. And now we've missed our mainline train where our ticket is not valid for any other train. Fortunately, the conductor of the next train had the big boss with her, who let us get away with the wrong ticket. Saving us about £100. Phew!

Had a great day out with my daughter :)

She managed to relive me of a £165 during the day mind, she has a very good habit of doing that
 
Going out shortly for an early Indian meal with friends. Usually order for delivery but went to the same place a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed it so much we're going again. AND, Mrs Nod has kindly offered to drive us home!
 
A close sighting of a Red Kite :)

We have had occasional sighting of this magnificent bird around locally but this afternoon it circled a few times at rooftop height passing over our garden about 3 times before widening its circle and then flying off. No time to get the camera so we just marvelled at this wondrous sight so close it was like you could reach out and touch it - simply superb :D
 
s***box passed its (rather overdue...) MOT with flying colours. Might even change its oil and filter at some point!

I passed my tickle test (Diabetes foot sensitivity check) and all other aspects of the yearly check.

Lunch at Wagamamas since we were in town at lunch time!

As I was leaving home I saw that my next door neighbour was working in his garage / workshop, so I stopped to ask what he was making.

- "A wheelbarrow for my great-great-grandson."
- "Great-great-grandson? Crikey. How old is he then?"
- "Two next week."

Nothing like starting then young, I guess!
 
2 pairs of varifocal glasses, one with reactoolite lenses for £510 my last ones that broke yesterday were £450 for one pair

I have specialist lenses due to a condiition, so just one varifocal lens is £160 of the highest quality before you add thinning, coatings frames etc.
Even specsavers wasn't that cheap for one pair when I last went to them and they totally cocked things up, took 3 visits to get them right :banghead:

Blimey, talk about costs mounting. I have the mid range varifocals which are £120 but I only have 1 lens so only pay £60. I don't have any coatings.

Been using Specsavers for 20 years and never had any issues (Mrs fabs as well). Must have been lucky in using the better branches.

I wish, but them I don't cut corners on my eyesight, this time I was given an option and went for zeiss lenses, the cost of one pair alone was £460 before the reactolite coating,
I do get free eye tests because of the problems in my right eye and 25% off the cost.
Got to have a word with the boss, as I have the varifocals for work the paid something towards them last time ;)
 
Went to the canteen today and was relieved that somebody had handed my phone in that I'd dropped there the day before. Phew. Thank you honest person and the canteen chef for looking after it for me.

Vision Express took 3 visits to get simple distance specs right for me so I now go to Specsavers. Couldn't get on with the bifocals a few years ago (shortly after the op) so they refunded the full cost of both pairs without a quibble. Picked up on slight ocular hypertension with the puffer test. Going to try varifocals but will get them to do one pair to see how I get on with them before they do the second (free) pair just in case.
 
WCMUT was getting round in the dry, although there was a shower 5 minutes before we headed out and another as we were having out tea afterwards.
 
Emptying the entire screwed up shoved in contents of my daughters wardrobe in front of her, whilst she pleads me to stop...

Maybe now she will hang and fold. If not the cycle will repeat :D

it took the putting of all her school stuff into a black plastic bin bag and putting it downstairs ready to go out , before madam came to her senses. You should have heard the panic yell of " Mum where's my School clothes ? "

I suggested it was in her wardrobe - she said no - she'd left it on the chair and the floor ! So I reminded her what I had promised to do :D :D :D

Never had a problem, even with my varifocals :D
 
Had the results from my two MRI scans and a full blood profile. All clear and very healthy results.

Whilst fantastic news, it didn't really help with the diagnosis. Still cheered me up :)

If you read what I said I never said they cut corners, never bought vaifocals from them so no idea what they offer ?
The opticians have always given me the option of 3 levels of lens silver/gold/and platinum, I have chosen always platinum,
my choice to buy the more expensive ones,
My dislike of specsavers was from the mess they made of my only time using them, 3 visits because the frames they said
I could have on the first 2 I was then told weren't suitable for the lenses, then when they arrived they weren't right, which they
tried to say was my fault as I must have done something wrong during the test, strange that as the sunglasses ordered at the
same time were perfect.
Ok so others have had no problems but for me I take as I find and specsavers are out for me now
 
What most folk don't realise is that opticians testing and prescription is guesswork, all of it. The machines that most companies use these days make it more accurate but no matter it's still guess work. That's why it quite possible to get a totally wrong prescription (I've had one from Boots) that will give you unwearable glasses. I get my eyes tested at Vision Express (Free cos I'm Scottish) and buy my glasses on the net, no special needs for my eyes so it's pretty simple. I refuse to pay these High Street/Shopping Centre businesses because I know that most of the cash I hand over is paying for the fancy glass frontage and 'busy looking' staff, not the product I'm buying.
 
WCMUT was getting down into the natural 40s and scoring 17 Stableford points. In glorious spring sunshine!
 
Almost had to put sunscreen on! Kept the ungloved hand in my pocket and a hat on instead. A bit chilly when we were waiting for the groups in front but that's not a whinge, just an observation.
 
Another thing has CMUT - Ozzy Man on YouTube. Lots of naughty words and funny as f***!
 
WCMUT was the arrival of my new Dell U2515H monitor
Although the fact it took me 10 minutes to get it out of the most complex cardboard packaging I've ever encountered was WAMT . I just hope I don't need to return it as I'll never get the packaging back together
