Prices vary wildly, probably out of our league though.

I am considering a Megane RS, or possibly a Clio RS. I currently have a Megane and love it.

Owned a Twingo GT not long ago, a pocket rocket, brought a smile to my face everytime I drove it.

Well I'm a Mini fan, and currently have a JCW Clubman. I've worked out that a replacement will be about £30k (for the newer 300 bhp model). I've been quoted £18k for mine on a P/X, so I think I'm going to take a £25k lump sum out of one of my pensions; then I can do some work on the house with the rest.

I just have to find one in the right colour, with the right extras and under 20k miles.....
 
WCMUT was getting the "No Further Tests Required" letter after the "pooh on a stick" bowel cancer screening.

We found a hoglet in the garden. Looks a bit weak but is rallying.
Whats the suggestions. Box it for the night?
Just put out water n dog food,?

Update, its found a cosy hollow in the dry stone wall so I've left some food and water just outside.

Sad start to the day, had to pick up our local hoggy from the road out front :(

But on brighter news the Greenfinch have young! They are feeding them in our garden :)

So far we have a fair number of Blue tit, Goldfinch, Starling, Sparrow, Jackdaw and Crow young plus the Great tit & Greenfinch pair :)

We have a Dunnock too, but no sign of young.
 
Sitting in the garden a couple of evenings ago and watching bats flitting around. I counted 74 and although there will be a fair bit of double counting there seemed to be a lot around.

I think there were some young ones as some looked smaller than others but it was difficult to keep track of them.

It is a gloomy day here. Happened to look out the rear window and see all the smiling happy faces of dahlias grown from one packet of seed this year bobbing around in the breeze and rain. I had to go out and preserve for happy posterity.

I have no idea how this can happen in a sealed environment like Amazon. It seems to happen so often - I get it with Evri (Every chance you'lll never see it again) as they collect from one place, drop off, move to next place but Amazon control the whole environment. They must have controls in place to be able to ask the last someone what they did with it?

Were they a pack of mixed Dahlia seeds? Looks a good selection!
 
They were. Got loads come up this year - and have had a good show. They seem to enjoy almost constant rain and fairly warm weather.

I don't think you can prevent pilfering unless you have every person body searched on entry and exit. Even then, there will still be ways to make things "walk out the back door".

I imagine that Employment Tribunals would take a dim view of treating staff like prisoners, so there are probably quite strict rules about how far security can go before it strays into areas like constructive dismissal.
 
I take your point - please accept that I am old and therefore outdated - is it no longer reasonable to expect that people do what they are supposed to do and not nick the stuff that pass through their hands? I shop at Sainsbury's and scan and shove stuff in my bag as we go around. If a shop staff member asks to look in my bag then I have no problem with that (but would probably prefer somewhere more private than a self service checkout if rubber gloves were coming out). Should I kick off if a simple search is requested? Why should an employee feel like they are treated like a prisoner when reasonable controls are in place?

Either way I am pleased that Marc got his money back timely.

It's not the first time it's happened to me but at least it was sorted quickly. I ordered another one from ao and it arrived this morning.

So somewhere there will have been a maternity roost and the pups will be old enough now to be out hunting. If you can figure out where the roost is they may (or may not - they'll almost certainly be pipistrelles and they're not always roost faithful) use the same one next year and you can count them emerging from around the end of May onwards. Once the pups can fend for themselves they'll all disperse as the next thing on the mums' calendar will be mating.
If you do find the roost next year consider doing the Bat Conservation Trust's roost count. All the details on their web site but it's very easy. My usual maternity roost has b****red off the last 2 years but since the bats have been in the house longer than I have they should come back eventually. I've counted about 80 plus emerging from my roof and that was before they pupped.
I doubt you actually had 74 as once they get past a very small handful they're impossible to keep track of but I'm still envious. But on the other hand I have a full spectrum detector and I'm now on at least 7 or 8 different species in the village (the myotis species are almost impossible to tell apart so I could have 1 or 2 of them). There are 2 other species fairly locally but not in the village.
 
First fig off our tree (well, bush!) Plenty more to come and they've got a couple of weeks to do so before we head off to find more.

Thanks for the info Jan.

I agree there would be not be 74; my view was a bit limited and as you say keeping track is impossible. Though I did see a few pairs flying around.

I don't know where the roost is, possibly in a nearby cemetery. Many years ago the next door neighbours had a maternity roost in their roof and one night we counted 32 bats emerging from behind a fascia board.

Always a delight to see bats.

WCMUT was seeing a Great Egret on the new lower Otter Restoration Project . Speaking to (I think) a warden, the bird is one of this year's brood from Somerset (I'm assuming the Levels) who has found its way down to the new site. Definitely a Great Egret - it was stood beside a Little Egret and the size difference was very obvious, then we spoke to the warden who told us the bird's life story (he had previously taken a shot of its rings.)

WCMUT was the bears at Wildwood Escot being out to play. First time we've seen them in the big enclosure - last time we saw them, they were in the more open one around their house rather than in the wooded area.

Even though I now have grandchildren, I find "other kids" irritating, especially when they cannot behave (which is usually down to the parents).
