I can't find a decently sized loaf in Tesco, they also seem too short to make a decent sandwich with. I've been buying a multi seed loaf at ASDA but some weeks it's a decent size and some weeks it's a bit short. I do make my own bread but I always have a sliced loaf too and it seems to be getting ever more difficult to find a loaf with decently sized slices. I bought a wholewheat loaf last week but although it is a decent size I'm not happy with it and will look for something else tomorrow.

Anyone else finding this?

WBMT: time perception.

When you wake up naturally, but don't need to get up, time ticks away as normal... but when your alarm goes off and you hit the 15 minute snooze, 60 seconds later it's ringing again. :oops: :$
 
When I wake up too early, I can rarely get back to sleep and the time draaaaaags!!! Then I blink and Mrs Nod's alarm goes off.
 
I saw a new Nissan Micra yesterday and I was a bit surprised. These used to be small but the new one looked to be the size of a family car and looked a long way from the original.
 
Compare a modern "Mini" to an early RangeRover...

I recently replaced my Skoda Karoq. The present mini countryman is almost the same size.
 
As the small car in the range gets ever larger is there an alternative true small car?

I couldn't believe the size of that Micra.

Lots.

Citreon Ami, Renault Twingo, Hyundi Inster, Dacia spring etc etc. The Ami is a true mini car but it's a bit crap really. In Europe there's often an 'under-class' of car available with tiny engines and a top speed around 45kph/29mph that can be drive sans-permis (without licence). Again they suck, but do provide essential transport for some people - I have seen a couple in the UK.

Yes I've seen a few of these in the UK. I wish they were more widely available.

I didn't even realise that we had cars in the UK that only needed a provisional to drive. Had a look and something like the SMART FORTWO electric coupe would be ideal for living in the city. Pretty smart looking as well (pun intended) and not overly priced either.

There were cars that could be driven on a full motorcycle licence (e.g. the Bond and Reliant three wheelers) but I hadn't realised that some four wheelers fell into that category. There's an RAC page here with some further information...

That RAC page states that a B1 license is required for 4 wheelers. A is the Motorcycle class.

My BIL had a few three wheeled Reliants, I drove one whilst learning to drive. I wouldn't really recommend one but I would like to see small engine 4 wheeled small cars at cheap prices but I can't see our leaders allowing that.
 
We have quite a few of these moped-cars, as they are called here, and they are classified (as the name suggests) as mopeds, are limited to 45kph and are registered for only driver +1. Can be driven from age 16. The problem with them is that can be difficult to overtake due to their low speed and width. They are popular with youngsters who are perhaps preaparing for a proper car from 17 when they can legally drive supervised in a normal car, subject to certain restrictions.
Ligier is the common brand.

In many areas in the UK this speed or maybe 64kph would be fine as even if the speed limit isn't 20 or 30mph (32-48kph) you probably can't go any faster.

Needed a new tyre due to puncture. So thought I would get the other side done too as that was below 4mm.

Went to Kwik Fit (as thought they may be able to repair - cant). I can get 2 tyres for £340, but need to order in so would be end of week or later. OR I can go online with Kwik Fit, order online, get same tyres delivered to that workshop TOMORROW and the cost would be £265.

Now I know that businesses may have different overheads and buying online may be cheaper than a physical store, but the only difference is me ordering online v them ordering. Same garage, same people doing the work? Just makes no sense! As it was I did book online when I got home (having the mobile option) but I COULD have seen a different deal and gone with competitor so they could have lost business. Crazy.

Makes me think that they have different supplier channels e.g
the store are obliged to source through the store HQ network but the online system finds the closest available alternate wholesaler (who might be a KF company too?)
 
Passed a Volvo XC40 on the M3 southbound this morning - all windows (I mean ALL windows) misted up. At least the driver didn't resort to using fog lights.

On a Volvo? I suspected the ventilation was completely turned off; on my Saab even if the recirc is on the windows do not mist up and I thought Volvo like Saab made their ventilation systems pretty much suitable for all climates.......I could be wrong and justified in my vehicle choice....

Air-con probably turned off...
 
Or possibly ventilation fan failed - it happens.

It happens with my Volvo sometimes when I haven't turned on the air-con but as soon as I notice the windows are starting to mist up I turn the air-con back on and put the fan on full blast before it becomes a problem... If my windows are misty when I get in it I always wait until the screen is clear before driving off... Previously had a Ford with a heated windscreen and liked that option, shame it wasn't an option on my Volvo at the time it was built, but it does have the Winter pack option of heated seats.
 
Wet floormats can cause this as well.

As a Golf Mk 7 owner, dealing with a swimming pool where the spare wheel goes I can accept this, but at least I know to get rid of the moisture from the windows before setting off...

What's going on with your spare wheel bay? I'd be in trouble as my amp is there.

Re. mats, I've got the OEM carpet mats, but I also have a rubber mat for my driver's footwell as it protects again heel wear and also helps keep the fabric mat dry. Apparently also helps with sound insultation, although I'm not convinced.
 
Age related stuff - missed 3 deliveries of razor blades as had to be 18 to sign for (safety razor). They are for my son who is 17. I get the fact that they dont want 15yo buying hunting knives easily, but people of 16 or so do shave!

We rented one a few years ago in Ibiza, couldn't believe how much roomy it was on the inside, the other half is 6' 2", and plenty of legroom, the year after we rented a VW Polo in Mallorca, it seemed bigger than the MK2 Golf, the other day I spotted an old Mini parked up outside M&S, it seemed drawfed by all the newer cars.
 
Old minis were tiny (10" wheels IIRC). Cars are simply vast these days, and a small-mid size SUV is as large as a big family car used to be.

The original ones did, I think it was the mid 1980's when they went to 12", a few years ago I was at a classic car show,as I used to work for the Classic car weekly magazine, spotted a lovely Vauxhall Cresta PC, my Dad had one of the last ones, it used to be a huge car, but looked so small at the show, modern cars barely fit in a parking bay these days.

It's hilarious that the Mini Countryman of today is actually longer wider and heavier than the Austin Maxi!!!

I test drove one a few weeks back as a possible replacement for a Skoda Karoq. It's based on the BMW X1 platform.
