WBMT.....What baffled me today

Putting items in my Amazon basket and finding that the price has increased when I go to pay, just seconds later!

I had that earlier today, Is it one of their lightning deals? It says when it ends, and how many are left.
The price is reduced at the point of paying.

I came out of hospital a year ago, my consultant said I should contact my GP in one year, i.e June 23, and ask him if I should continue to take my blood thinners, because after one year I should be as near to normal as is possible, for me anyhow!
So that’s what I did using a system called Footfall.
I finished the @mail with “So should I stop taking my blood thinners?”
I got a reply that said the message has been passed on to a clinician and I will be contacted in three weeks.
Surely it would have been easier to answer “Yes” or “ No?”

Why anyone would do this to lose weight

I thought gastric bands were bad enough but I just can't understand this sort of surgery

A woman came into work this morning, yes she did look good and told us she has lost 6 stone over 2 years
following this operation but has to be very careful what she eats as stomach upsets result from eatng the worng food and can be very embarrasing, but I forgot to ask whether she will continue to lose weight, if so she will start to look far too thin

Think I'd rather be overweight

WBMT is why Alexa just starts playing songs. I was watching the news when "she" started playing Abba's "Winner Takes It All".A few days ago it was Elgar's "Chanson de Matin".

Time to start Googling now it's happened twice.

Shouldn't you ask Alexa :) :exit:

Since having had COVID a couple of weeks ago Mrs T is suffering from hay fever symptoms so went online to check if you can develop hay fever.

The first page I clicked on was this one - https://www.nhsinform.scot/illnesses-and-conditions/immune-system/hay-fever

It has a guide you can use to check if you might have hay fever. I'm not sure how useful it is but I was intrigued/baffled and a bit amused by the "Before using this guide" box.

I took your advice and asked Alexa, today.

Me: Alexa, you keep playing music without a request to do so and Nog said to ask you why"

Alexa: "I'm sorry ,I don't know that name"

Me:. "It was a joke"

Alexa: "What happened when the strawberry crossed the road ?.. It caused a traffic jam"

Me: "Alexa Why do you play music without an instruction to do so ?"

Alexa: "To answer that question go to the help feedback section of the Alexa App"

Me ."Ok Thanks"

Alexa: " No probs, I hope you get it sorted....have a nice day"

Reading a question from an American asking if German rail ticket machines could be read in other languages.
Specifically because she couldn't see a Stars and Stripes flag on the list of other countries emblems.

Answer given was that English is most commonly associated with GB and to look for a Union Jack of which a description was also given

:headbang: yet again the rest of the world has forgotten that it "turns" around the US of A or at least on that travellers opinion:

That moment, when you are absolutely convinced that you searched all your pockets for tissues,
and yet still open the washing machine to a snow storm :(

Reminds me of the joke about Alexa for those of a certain age.

Woman : "David, I don't like Alexa listening to everything we say."

Man : "That's OK, I'll turn Alexa off."

Man : "Alexa, turn yourself off."

Alexa : "I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that."

We only use Alexa for music and the shopping list. My wife spoke to her at first because I found it strange speaking to a 'globe'..lol .However, one day, when I asked my wife to get something from the supermarket she told me to add it Alexa's shopping list so I did. Because Alexa didn't recognise my voice she said. "I don't recognise your voice. Do you want to tell me your name ? Freaked me out,it did..lol.. "No,I don't" I said. She just said.. 'OK"

If you aren't quick enough after saying "Alexa..add to shopping list...eggs.. Alexa will say. "Do you want me to read out your shopping list ?". Also if I make a 'mess up" with the request.. and..eg I want large oranges and almost forget to say Large..it goes like this. "Alexa..add to shopping list Oranges...the large ones" Alexa."I've added oranges, the large ones to your shopping list" :D I've got used to 'her' now.

Three weeks ago, I paid for something (just over £200) by credit card, so today I have looked at my bank account to pay off the credit card a/c and the account is clear. I have the bill plus the receipt with the "verified by pin" and "thank you".
What would you do next?

I suppose it is possible that they haven't processed it yet. These days things normally go through PDQ but I have had some slooooow transactions. Maybe give it another week or so as they might process stuff at the end of the month?

The last thing I want to do, is make another payment and then the original goes through.

Ring the card issuer's security line.

Given the transaction date and payee, they can check if the transaction is in the pending file and whether there's anything to be concerned about.

I wouldn't do anything. You have got a receipt, if they don't charge your card that is their problem not yours.

That transaction wasn't on the bottom of last month's statement, was it?

Although merchants are supposed to poll their machines daily, some machines will store up to 30 days worth of data before getting tetchy (safeguard in case some puts a digger through the phone line or similar).

Bloody computers!

WBMT?
I ordered e-Juice concentrate from ebay the other day, (usual supplier)
It come in 10 30 or 60ml quantities, select from the drop-down.
It seems they are all out of stock except the 100mm option.

I was going to order 60ml so no big deal really.

It turned up today, 3 x 30ml & 1 x 10ml bottles in a zip lock bag.
Well played supplier, well played!

WBMT..
I received a refund for an item I ordered, I never asked for a refund, the item is in my hands.
I contacted the seller and they told me not to worry, as it's their mistake.
I offered to pay back, but they said no.

I'm now looking for a charity to send the money too :)

I filled in an online form to close a bank account.
Bank contacted me and said I need to go into the branch to do that.
Replied saying they closed my branch because everybody now banked online.

WBMT…We have had thousands of new houses in the district already built due to the government mandated housing plans, and have thousands more in progress or planned .
Part of them going through was conditional on a new A-Road being built that links several of the sites with two other A-Roads and several very large business/science parks, and bypassing a number of existing villages that currently have very heavy traffic at rush hour, and including a new Thames crossing to assist two ancient bridges that are both one direction with traffic lights due to width.

Despite years of planning and some sections being under construction, the County Council have now declined the final planning permission for the road….

That’s because they never really intended to build it. They said they would to appease locals.

I went shopping this afternoon and when I got home there was a strange looking brown liquid all over the pavement. I was curious so I look at the cctv footage and saw a young woman walk past, open a bottle, pour it out over the pavement and put the top back on the bottle again. All this without stopping, she carried on walking.

I just can't imagine why anyone would do this. If she didn't want to drink it (it could have been some sort of chocolate flavoured milk maybe) why not take it home and save it for later or take it home and bin it? If she absolutely had to pour it out why not empty it down a drain, like the one outside our house? The one she passed as she took the top off the bottle.

I just can't see a reason for doing what she did apart from her being an idiot, and this isn't a kid, it's a young woman. People have to walk though the mess she made, why do this? Maybe that's the answer. She's an idiot.

I can't tell you on here what I once saw a bloke doing with a thermos flask on the back seat of a bus.

This is why I have to keep a close eye on the ground when wheeling. It's one thing getting it on your shoes but...
I can't tell you on here what I once saw a bloke doing with a thermos flask on the back seat of a bus.

I think there's maybe generally a problem with how people are brought up. I'd have had a very serious telling off if I'd done anything like that as a kid and an adult should be able to work it out for themselves. It just baffled me as it's so difficult to understand why she did it and it's just a stupid thing to do.

Re wheel chair use. I push my mam in one a lot and avoiding that mess would have meant back tracking to the last house with a slope in the kerb and dropping down onto the road and it would then be about 50-60 yards or so before reaching another sloped kerb to get back on the pavement.

I know the kids are off of school, but....

When I queued up for my coffee in Costa, I got really irritated by the kid behind me jumping around and bumping into me. I asked politely if the mother/grandmother (not sure) could ask him to stop and she replied with "Why?"

"Because next time there's a good chance of him bouncing off and going head first into that table". She told him to go and sit at a table, I went to the other end of the coffee shop. My son has 3 boys, 10, 7 and 18 months, he or his wife would never let them behave like it. It must have been obvious to her he was he was doing it as he was between the two of us.

I know I'm getting old, I know I can be grumpy, but I expect some respect for my "personal space".

Even when my 2 were young, and that was a fair few years ago, they sat at a table at meal times, and asked to be excused.
But not in a restaurant / cafe, they knew to sit still.
But even back then the rot had started to set in, with plenty of other kids running around and being a pita to other people :(

We tried a new cafe in town unfortunately there was a family in there with young children that were completely running riot
cant understand why the parents didn’t do anything, a complete lack of respect for others I guess , I ended up saying something to the children and they stayed out of our way after that but we didn’t go back there again

Dishwasher cleaning tablets.

According to all the advertising(and from what I see when I empty the dishwasher) dishwasher tablets can remove all sorts of grease and burnt on stuff, and the salt I add softens the water, but apparently we need special tablets to clean the dishwasher:confused:
