WBMT.....What baffled me today

We tried a new cafe in town unfortunately there was a family in there with young children that were completely running riot
cant understand why the parents didn’t do anything, a complete lack of respect for others I guess , I ended up saying something to the children and they stayed out of our way after that but we didn’t go back there again

Not just here. I recall being in a Golden Corral diner in Nebraska..it was huge and self -service and next to our table was a family that looked like Hillbillies Mum/dad and uncle(who looked like Lee Van Cleef) plus three youngsters about 5-7. There was more food on the floor around the table from the children than there was on it and dad wore a gun belt with the butt of the gun sticking out of the holster. Nebraska is an 'open carry' state. You wouldn't be telling the kids to behave...lol.

Oh I long for a dishwasher again... The heating element in ours went pop and a new one is on back order for a few weeks!!!

Bad luck seems like you are going to have to embrace the Marigolds for a while:)

Received a new debit card from Barclays. What baffled me? My old one is only a year old and doesn't expire for another 4 years!
is it a new style one where there are no raised numbers on the front? I was sent a new credit card a year early which is the new format.

It's possible that the old card was compromised in some way and the bank picked up on it before you so have issued you a new one.

Has it gone from Visa to Mastercard or other way round?

Would be nice if they'd explained it.

Mystery solved. Because I bought cinema tickets online at 2am last week, it threw up a red flag and despite confirming it on the app at the time, they decided to issue a new card.

Good to know they're keeping an eye on things BUT, as you say, it would be nice if they had let you know!

I guess I shouldn't really be baffled over this maybe it should be in the annoyed thread.

Slugs seem to have an inbuilt homing device, when I add new additions.
Yesterday, I put out 3 plants that I'd been growing on, well cuttings actually.
That night I went out to check as I'm being plagued with slugs ( as noted elsewhere)
and there was 3 heading to and not far from the 3 plants,
They had already crossed a couple of feet of a gravel covered bed!

I'm hoping they didn't avoid the Nematodes on their way there.

We are trying to work out how they seem to know the price of the wife’s Dahlias….£1.99 from Aldi it’s nah your alright think we will pass, £14.99 from a garden centre ands its a gourmet buffet for 6 the night its planted….

What universe are dishwashers from? A 17 minute cycle is already 37 ........................ and still 4 to go. Same with wachine machines.

Why do those in power when found to have acted improperly always say they won't quit.
Then inevitably they do, just go and don't make such an idiot of yourself..

Agree. They remind me of a recurring character from the Punt and Dennis show - The RT. Hon. Hector Sleazy MP, who does a piece to camera outlining how he has been appalling treated by the media over some incident. At the end of the interview he says, "I shall not be resigning" and walks away, only to turn and say, "I resign."

Years ago I and my son used to say the worst thing any MP from the party in power caught doing something dodgy could say was, "I have the PM's full backing", as it was almost always followed a few days later by a resignation.

I'm not so sure it would happen now.

You know a football manager is done when they say they have the full backing of the board

Just when you get to a point in life when you think you've heard it all before something like this comes along. Today's Evening Standard.

A man will appear in court charged with snatching dummies out of the mouths of babies in Essex.

"Top" jokes at the Edinburgh fringe! Jokes??? Really??? Didn't even raise a smile on my face. Is it just my mood at the current time???
I agree, this was the sort of thing we were telling each other in middle school.
They may have been funny then, but they are certainly Meh! now.

Cows and now cormorants, just be thankful that kingfishers are the size they are :D
But they do have very sharp 'pointy' beaks, akin to the Arctic Tern ......which pecked my head (through a thin hat!) on a Farne's trip a few years back.

Happens on the Isle of May too, fiesty things.

Yes, very fiesty and superb aerialists too boot :)

If I had known in advance I would have had better headgear :)

A friend, of a good few years, took the hump today because I wouldn't divulge some personal info, even getting passive, agressive. Quite an unsettling experience.

I won't cry in my cornflakes over it but it has been a sad and eye opening day.

We had a postal delivery this (Sunday) morning.

Just ordinary post i.e. not SD......the odd random letter popped in that was wrongly delivered to a neighbour I can 'understand' but this was a 4 items.

A mystery as I cannot find any info about Sunday deliveries trials/restarting

We get a Sunday delivery here, but there doesn't seem to be any pattern to it, Just totally random.
Sometimes they do sometimes they don't.

Hmmm! though today's one is so to speak 'out of the blue'. Cannot recall the last time I saw a Sunday delivery other than the ones many decades ago

I suppose it will interesting to see if we get them now & again in the coming months?

I have just received an e-mail from my bank telling me that I no longer have an account with them. It is now called a PRODUCT. I wonder which grossly overpaid senior executive came up with that idea.

Had a short break this weekend and headed into town for a chippy.

I ordered 3 meals to take away. I almost got us drinks too, until I saw the price of them. £3 for a 500ml bottle of coke/Irn Bru etc. £2 for a can,. Large bottle (2lt), £4.

I know things have gone up and I don't grudge a fair price but that's just ripping it.

Also of note, a tray of doner meat .... £10.

 That is ridiculous!

Yup, very.

I think it's meant to catch tourists out, the locals must have cottoned on as the shop was empty. I'm glad I checked the prices. I honoured my order but I won't be going back, once bitten and all that.

I did grab a menu to show my Wife. I have it here and am looking at some of the other prices.

Vegtable pakora, £9,
12" munchy box, £25,
Doner kebab, £9.50 (cheaper by 50p than a tray of doner meat).

to name a few.

I may suggest this place to Danny, of Rate My Takeaway.

Will be buying the coke in at about 75p a bottle or less wholesale, talk about mark up, that's 400%.
