Right guys, as it says but with certain provisos. It needs to have a decent zoom range - all the ones I have found are crap.
It isn't for me, but a friend has seen my pictures and wants something equivalent. I am using a Nikon P7800 and the image quality is lovely, it doesn't matter that it is slow to download each shot, that doesn't bother me at all so it is a non-existent problem. I use mine out in the open, not in a waterproof case, and it has survived quite well - I did kill one when wave came right over my head! I was in my waders at about waist height, the camera was inside the waders hanging round my neck...it didn't survive that complete immersion in sea water.
Wet hands with fish slime and the like don't bother it at all though.
My other option is a G12 in dedicated diving housing - I had this and that is what I was using, but the zoom range is crap, not enough long end ad not enough wide end..the P7800 beats it at both ends, but they don't make a good waterproof box for it.
So, he is after a compact of the kind of quality of the P7800, but one which has been watersportserised.......anyone any ideas please?
Fank Yoo.
OH - and before you go down the usual photographers pitfall of worrying about QUALITY, he is a crap photographer, so normal compact quality is plenty good enough. He had a Fuji - the pictures were lacking in contrast and generally just s***.
