WAMT....what annoyed me today!

Sold a fly rod on FB marketplace, buyer paid on collection and rushed off
2 hours later got a DM from him accusing me of selling him a broken 3 piece rod
When I messaged him back to tell him it was a 4 piece rod, rather than apologise he blocked me

If he doesn't want the money back I assume he's sort of :D

I suppose by the standards of today you have a happy customer.

Renewed the VED today, £710 for a 2litre Honda! Thing is if it was 3 years older, same engine, same emissions, it would have been less, a few more years older, lots less, no logic there then. Still, it cost about the price of a daily paper over a year and much more fun.

The like is for the fun factor, not the £710 bill for it!

Blood Test!
What a total PITA.
My Doctor decided I need a blood test, it's to monitor my meds and about once a year at random.
Got the letter saturday morning, now the testing only takes place Monday to friday and you cant ring to make an appointment on the weekend, and it's shut bank holiday monday as well. And as my surgery doesn't do the tests I have to contact the local health board. You can book online though. So I tried that.
Not a hope. First off the website is a disaster. Managed to fill in the form... except it doesnt like my email address which it needs to send the confirmation (gmail account) Then it has a tilt at the selecting the time stage, finally after hours of playing silly beggars it gives me a time and place. 00.05 on the 11th june at my surgery... which doesnt do blood tests, and I'm fairly sure is closed at five past midnight anyway?
Ring them this morning, get answerphone message saying the line is closed and theres a problem with the website (the lines supposed to be open at nine) and it's nearly ten when I ring.
After phoning around I manage to find someone who can actually book a slot, at my local hospital.
Lets be honest, theres hundreds of people every day needing blood tests. The system shouldnt be that difficult. As Clarkson says "How hard can it be?" Off to the pub now, sod the editing!

Its an organisational hotchpotch.
My wife is on her 3rd cancer biopsy. All at the same hospital, organised by the same team, for the same procedure.
1st appt. She was notified by phone, followed by a letter. 2nd . She got an e mail notification.
3rd she got a text, directing her to log in to the portal. How does that happen?

This hasn't just annoyed me today but each time I open LR Classic. I wish they'd change it.

97 (97 of 1).jpg

You can turn it off.

I've Googled for it but no answer. I found... "How to stop LR opening automatically" Another result was about how to get rid of the exif data showing on a photo..eg shutter speed..aperture etc. Nothing about being able to turn off that awful opening photo of someone in what appears to be a heat protection suit..if that's what it is. It looks sinister to me.

I..and Constable..would really appreciate it if you could post the 'how to' link. Thanks.

Expecting 2 deliveries today, one via the post office and one via Evri. The PO one was due yesterday and the Evri one was originally coming tomorrow. Apparently the PO had trouble delivering at the same time as the Evri driver was delivering...

Down Royal Brompton for wifes procedure. First time central London for years.
In Kensington, no ugly wheelie bins or recycling, just sling it on the pavement and they collect it.

They also have roadsweepers, which I thought were extinct.

Shows what it's like if you've got money.

So. Drove down yesterday. Hotel in Knightsbridge, wife went in at 8 this morning. She just sent this WhatsApp.

Just met Professor Shah. There's a bit of a hiccup as apparently there's a cyber attack and the hospital bosses want to delay all procedures. Prof Shah has asked me if I'm willing to go ahead even though there's a small risk they could lose the samples. I said yes, of course. He's trying to push it with the hospital bosses.
You couldn't make this s*** up!

I had a colonioscopy in 2017 - they lost the biopsy samples. I had an endoscopy on Jan 18th this year and they took biopsies but haven't told me the results.

Blimey.

These days, it seems that you need to find the results yourself through the NHS app..

Unfortunately the scroats are active again messing with people's lives :(

WAMT well actually over past few days

I found I could update my Kuga Sync 3 software myself and this I did using the USB stick method, updating from v3.3 to 3.4

However, part of the process was to upload a log file to the Ford website. Now, though the site appeared to accept it the Ford website has yet to illustrate the updated version!

Firstly I contacted Ford Customer support....it transpires I need to provide (by answering) a comprehensive list of questions including personal information and a gamut of what to me are marketing questions.

I also contacted my local dealer and they quoted me an up to one hour booking @ £119 Inc vat:(

Now, I read on the Ford site that if I use their WiFi method there is no requirement to manually upload the log file.

So today I got the chance to park my car closer to the house than our drive is = too weak a WiFi signal. I had a fair signal strength and proceeded.....thinking it would quickly recognise that I was on the latest 3.4 update.

Sadly no, after over 1.5 hours the progress bar had not budged from half way along. The guide notes say if stopped for any reason it will resume once WiFi reconnected. So shut the car down for a break.
When restarted I saw a message the update to v3.4 was completed and ostensibly their system should have 'registered' the log file properly.

I checked the Ford site again and still no change at that point in time ........will have to try again later/tomorrow???

On the surmise that it does report v3.4 that should 'release' access a Nav Maps update which are currently @F8 but my search reveals that F12 is the likely most current.

PS a wider search shows that there have been similar issues dating back to 2018, with much criticism of the Ford system!!!

These days, it seems that you need to find the results yourself through the NHS app..

That is the theory, but it says these results (Jan biopsy and Feb chest x-ray) are not available. My GP has told me he cannot access them because of data protection, which seems stupid, because how can he treat me without having access to my health records.

Scam callers to my 99 year old mum, telling her that her account has been compromised etc. Thankfully, she has been well briefed and put the phone down but it still upset her and she asked me to check. Rang the bank but they wouldn't tell me anything for "security reasons"! Grrrrrrrrrr! had to pop down to the hole in the wall to check mum's balance, which was fine! They must scam a lot or they wouldn't keep doing it! I got home and had a call myself from an "insulation specialsist" who wanted to check my loft as I was probably due to get "free loft insulation"! Aaaaaarghhh!

Sorry to hear that, glad it came to nothing.
They will ring back though. They will have listed her as a possible. Warn her, there could be many more.

:mad::mad::mad::mad::rolleyes:

If you are talking about a landline, does it have BT call blocking function 1572. FWIW when ours was with BT it was part of the service and we also have in our Plusnet package.

Also, we find "call line identification" is IMO invaluable.

I hate such calls and any unknown number goes to our answerphone and spurious numbers get put on the block/divert list using 1572.

Glad that your Mum lost nothing. Could you persuade her to let all of her calls go to the answerphone. If she then hears a voice she recognises she can pick it up and any dodgy callers will ring off. Any bona fide caller will leave a message.

Even if a dodgy caller does leave a message it would give you Mum time to check it out.

That works a treat, all our calls are answered by the machine. 99% just hang up. In the event it's a "real" call we just pick up.

WAMT is having a raging temperature (up to 38.7°C). Seems to be coming down now. Stupid thing is that I feel fine other than a bit feverish.

She has hearing problems too, so finds it difficult to hear everything, unless she has the volume up. At present, she has all her chairs at home but I feel for those who haven't!

Exactly the same for us, Brian. The only difficulty we every had was when my MiL was alive. She refused to talk to the answer machine and just put the phone down when the machine cut in. Now it works really well.

There are roadworks at our local high street crossroads where they are widening the road. It's been ongoing for quite some time and is due to finish "in the summer." That's not my annoyance. My annoyance is that the council simultaneously started road works on a couple of nearby alternative routes and a few days ago they started on another and it's caused carnage. Coming home today I can honestly say that in 60 years of living here I've never ever seen traffic chaos like it and this is on a Sunday. I dread to think what it'll be like in rush hour on a weekday. It's almost as if they wanted to cause as much disruption and misery as possible. Either that or it's just the usual incompetence and bad planning.

Sheffield are experts at that. Any time they have to work on a major route, they dig up all the alternatives as well.

I was annoyed today because I was almost run into by a youth on an electric scooter in Morrisons. He was followed by parents pushing a spare scooter (or probably for the other child trailing along more interested in Chocolate than riding round the store). There was no security guard on duty. I was in a hurry but if it happens again, I will report to the Manager who will obviously have to order them to stop and leave the store as Morrisons have a duty of care to their customers. We frequently have customers who insist on driving round the marked one way system the wrong way. I once confronted one in the store and he threatened violence until he noticed the size of the security guy rapidly approaching him.

WAMT? British Gas, yet again. I am the contact for my mum. She has had some work done. I have had six (yes, six) text messages asking me to give a review on the work done at her bungalow. I sent a message back, saying "Stop pestering me with these texts". They responded with "OK"! :headbang:

Before we went on holiday, two weeks ago, my wife had bought a small Thermos flask for me which would fit into my camera/lens bag easily. We were unable to make the top fit., Back home now and looked at it again. and still couldn't work out why the top wouldn't fit. My wife called Thermos and spoke to a customer support agent and he asked her to send a photo. She did that. He said it wasn't a Thermos top....no wonder it didn't fit. He gave her a link to be able to buy the correct top. My wife bought the flask on Amazon (sold by Amazon) so she contacted them and the customer care chap asked her to send it back saying that sometimes mistakes happen. It all had to go through my wife as she has the Amazon Prime account. It's being collected tomorrow. Who'd have thought the top wasn't the right one for this 0.35L flask ?

The cynic in me says that it was a returned item and unchecked by the 'returns' department?

In regard to such returns.....I was under the impression that they put them into the "Amazon Warehouse" sales channel.

I hope you get a refund or a correct replacement.

PS My OH bought a metal Thermos flask from the Trespass store about 4 weeks before they closed down, a 500ml (0.5l) one and IIRC out of the box the lid was screwed onto to the flask.

Maybe you're right. I've heard of the "Amazon Warehouse". My wife said she'd get a refund and we can get a new one. It's unlikely to happen again......he says.. :D

It depends, sometimes they get sent back to us as vendors for disposal.

I wouldn't be surprised if many vendors make a quick check and send them back to amazon...

I don't know if this really annoyed me or I'm baffled or if it's just par for the course these days.

Tradesmen not turning up.

In the last few years I've had trouble finding people to do work. I ring them and they say they'll call back and don't or they do turn up and say they'll work out a quote and I never hear from them again. I suppose we've all had this but in recent years it seems to be happening more and I've hit this with tradesman or companies one after the other to the point that things have dragged on for months because of these time wasters. I do wish they'd say "Sorry, it's too big / small a job" or "I can't really quote because I couldn't fit you in until 2027." This would be better than waiting a week or two for a call or quote which never comes, losing that time and having to start again.

The latest is just a little thing, car valeting. I have three cars, an SUV, a small hatch back and an MX5 and for reasons I wont go into here Mrs WW is keen for me not to wash cars at the moment so I asked for recommendations on a local social media thingy and rang one of the guys to get him to come and do a nice valet on all three and then maybe make it a regular thing. I detailed the cars and what I wanted and he seemed keen enough and once he knew where I was he chatted about his in laws who live just down the road. I mentioned that he could do one car at a time or all three on the same day, whatever he wanted to do, and he said he'd call round and have a look and take it from there. Since then, nada, So I'll start again and ring someone else.

When Mrs WW first came to the UK she was amazed that this sort of thing happens as in Thailand tradesmen turn up on time and I thought that sounds like heaven. Fast forward 7 years or so and she's in Thailand on a visit and she's encountering the exact same thing so this has spread to Thailand now :D When I find someone reliable I try and stick with them for this reason but when something new crops up or when people retire or move on it can be really difficult to find someone new.

I can't be the only one who goes through this. Does anyone else have this problem?

I benefited from this attitude. When I still advertised home computer repairs a few years ago, I was in 3 editions of Thomson local.
Occasionally I would miss a customer call, and by the time I rang back, they had booked someone else.
On quite a few occasions they rang back a day or so later because the original booking never turned up.
I've never understood it.

I think I do make this worse for myself as I like to be correct and polite. I don't expect someone to be on my doorstep as soon as I put the phone down and I do understand that people are busy so I contact someone and wait for a response and I usually wait a week or so just to give them time in case something else is going on.

It all just gets a bit repetitive and tiresome though.

With this car valeting, I'll call someone else on Monday.
