WAMT....what annoyed me today!

I drove an Audi 100 Coupe S for several years without anything more than minor problems. As is always the case, people's mileage varies.
Nice car :)

Controversial / The old cars weren't stuffed with gadgets and gizmo's, less to go wrong.

Great chilling out day, then ruined by my skin cancer results, well peeved off now.
Bloody hell mate. Sorry to hear that.
f*** you cancer!

Got the decorating finished in the study. She already has another job lined up for me!!!

Rookie mistake! I started decorating the hall and stairwell 20 years ago. Once I finish that, I'll be given instructions for the next little job!!!

Tripping over the damned lawn mower lead ( No idea how that happened (?!) )

And only receiving 4.5's for artistic content :(

It would have been solid 5s had you managed to hit the pond!

Not had a door on the toilet for over 3 years - im slowly stripping back the frames to bare wood and making good.

Its not the job that takes the time, its preparation (y)

Preparation? How long does it take to drop trew? ;)

Photography!

Wait, no .. hobbies!!

Well .. OK, myself! ;)

I thought as a hobby, it'll be cheaper on my pocket and better for my knees...

I retired from mountain biking due to my knees and going through tyres and parts.

Keep looking at gear that costs the same as my bike, that I could throw off a mountain, the camera gear 'just' takes images .. having said that, if I'd ridden the bike down instead of throwing it, it would have been cheaper to look after .. :p:LOL:

And as for my knees .. I'm now crawling around fields looking for bugs and wildlife and can barely walk home after :headbang:

Sorry ... not really sure why I'm typing this, think I need help...

I think my passion for photography has become an addiction  :$

My wife was in the garden this morning, I was painting an upstairs window. She called out to ask if I could see anything burning as she could smell smoke. Sure enough there was a could of thick smoke just down the lane. We went to have a look and it was a DPD van that was up in flames. The driver got out ok but had to chase his dog as it had run off, the poor thing was terrified. Eventually the fire brigade turned up and put the fire out. We let the driver use our phone, gave him a cuppa and let his dog play with ours to settle it down while he rang his office. (They just told him to ring the RAC!!!!). It all could’ve been so much worse, as the van was right between two wooden houses when it went up.

What annoyed me? All one of our neighbours was bothered about was his dog food was in the back of the van and when was it going to be delivered?

Well on going for a few days..

We get a lot of travelers here, mostly during the summer months,
We have a lot of green spaces and some exceptionally wide verges, plenty of room for a herd caravans and 4x4's.
As you would imagine, people moan about it, mostly about the mess that's left behind,
and the cost of the clear up.
Nothing is ever done by the authorities, except to wait for them to move on and clear up after.

Friday, about 30 caravans turned up, onto school playing field.
Apparently the iron gates miraculously opened and part of the surrounding fence fell down at the same time.
And an underground water pipe unfortunately happen to burst soon after.
At least they had fresh water and the kids could play in it, after all its has been ( and still is) very hot.

Of course the school closed to week-end activities and closed to everyone else Monday & today.

This time however there was such an up roar not only on FB,
But the Police, local council, local MP, all received 100's if not 1000's of phone calls, emails and FB tags,
I guess they decided that maybe that they should do something this time.

They have now been finally been moved off.
4 vehicles seized
3 caravans seized
2 arrests.

The damage reported so far, ( apart from the gates and fencing)
doing "donuts" on the school sports field ripping it to pieces,
and the use of a long jump sand pit, being used as a communal toilet.

And of course anecdotal evidence from some shop workers, who saw them fill bags
of food, and walk out without paying....

@Cobra sorry to hear that :(
At least the authorities moved them off fast this time, which is pretty much a first!
Normally if they do anything about it its weeks in the "Planning" ( ;) )
and further weeks to implement it.

They have to serve 'notice' to move :(
We get it here in the village, farmers have piled concrete and dug huge ditches in areas to try and cut it down.
I guess being a school they needed to act :)

I agree, and that's what takes the time,
as it seems it actually takes forever to do that.
But they do have special powers, under section 60c, a recent law as I understand it,
that covers illegal encampment.

edited to add, its HERE about a 1/4 of the way down (2022 act)

I didn't know there had been a change, thank you, I'll read it later (y)

You have to wonder at the mentality of people who'd vandalise and destroy and cause such financial costs so deliberately and so obviously that they'd know it'd p off the locals PDQ.

I'll never forget what they left behind in my area once. The mountain of crap they left behind was unbelievable even if every car, van and trailer had been full of nothing but junk, waste and rubbish waiting to be emptied out.

The worst that I saw, about a dozen sheep carcasses thrown into the dense shrubbery behind the encampment,
only to be discovered once they had moved on.
I guess the smell got too much for them ;)

Maybe lower the fridge temperature in time for 38C next weekend :) That's 10C more than you have today. Infact, 40C is being mooted, oh yes.. and make some ice cream :D

Anything less than 4oC and stuff starts to freeze.
26oC here at the moment, its supposed to be less than mid 20's the rest of the week, but hitting 30
Sunday for a couple of days, and then low 20's as the rain arrives.

and make some ice cream :D
Not forgotten but not shopped either recently :)

WAM (and my wife) T.

Trying to understand a customer care lady who we think had a Caribbean accent. Very helpful but..... I gave up and passed the phone to my wife.I had the same frustration years ago when speaking to a lady in India who worked for More Than insurance. They eventually reverted to UK-based staff. Having said that I had to ask my wife(Scottish) to speak to a lady who was Glaswegian. They prounounce the letter 'E' as 'I'. A coal miner works down a 'pet'. Lit becomes 'let'. I've often found it difficult listening to the football pundit and ex footballer Pat Nevin and Kenny Dalgish is often hard to understand. However, I've never had any problem understanding Billy Connolly, also Glaswegian. My favourites are Geordie/Tyneside and South Wales.

If it hits 40, us Ginger tops will be melting

I spend the hottest days face down in water... With a mask and snorkel on! Weird how 35°C is a national disaster here but just a warm Spring day elsewhere.

Its the humidity here that "kills"
Years ago walking across a prairie in SD, it was 100+ oF ( around 38-40 oC)
I was fine, it was very pleasant, but my American friends were melting!

Its all relative I guess

Good idea, there's a coolant tank on my machine

Anything over 18 degs, I'm done ... I got sunburnt back in February  :$

That's very true. High temps can be tolerated as long as the humidity is low. Must be awful in countries like Thailand and Malaya.

Look at these 2021 temps. A warning of things to come (relatively-speaking) elsewhere ?

My other half was cold just a few weeks ago now, too hot
Thanks God we have the weather to moan about in the UK :D
I've had a couple of quick "thunder spot" type rain showers, the last couple of hours.
They don't last long though.

Internet directions.

I went to a place today I'd not been to for 40 years and even thought I just knew the directions looked iffy I followed them.... Were they widely wrong? Yup. I'd have been better off reading tea leaves.
