WAMT....what annoyed me today!

WAMT? I had to come back to the Flat because my Ubuntu powered PC at Mum and Dad's has died.

I wouldn't mind but I've only had it a few weeks.

I tried to put it on this morning after using it most of yesterday, and it wouldn't load so I was literally like "What the actual f*** just happened?" and asked Dad to bring me back to the Flat.

Also, we tried to use the bath seat yesterday morning, and it doesn't work, won't move up or down! I wouldn't mind but it's not that long since the company serviced it so now Dad's got to ring up tomorrow and get them to come out and fix it.

Turns out the battery's knackered on the bath seat, I wouldn't mind but they won't do anything till at least Tuesday next week as Monday's a post New Year Bank Holiday.

I've already informed Laura, the leader of the support workers.

Also Dad's fixed the Ubuntu PC and the Sky Q box, only thing that probably doesn't work is the Xbox.

WAMT was a photo on a facebook group showing heavy snow in Inverness. Looks like my plan do to the NC500 in the motorhome isn't going to happen next week.
 
A local company charging my 83 old mum £1,524 to replace an up and over garage door opener :(

Im on nights at the moment and stood in my PPE in the middle of the Neonatal Intensive Care when the wife sends me a photo of a positive Lateral Flow test of my son who lives with me!

"Luckily" we have access to a pcr machine next door in delivery so I've just done a rapid test and should have my result in by about 3am. I feel fine but really would feel guilty leaving in the middle of a shift if positive :-(

WAMT was finding out that we still cannot take delivery of the new motorhome we are buying (& waited months for it to be built) because the 'Certificate of Conformity' has not arrived from the factory yet. The vehicle was delivered to the UK 2nd week in December and we were due to pick it up next week. Without the CoC it cannot be registered in the UK.

Apparently paperwork delays are something to do with not being part of Europe.......
 
Post's just come, the NHS have sent me a request to have a Flu jab because I'm classed as vulnerable, do they not know I had one just before Christmas? Smh.
 
Better to be invited twice than not at all.

They probably do ‘know’ — if you can check your online med record you will see. I think it’s just a lag in the system, the same happened to me but mine was definitely recorded.
 
HMRC changing my tax code because one of the banks that I save with has reported my interest payment to HMRC even though it is in an ISA. The bank told HMRC about the incorrect reporting last October and re-submitted the correct details but HMRC have gone ahead and added it to my income anyway. I was not the only person whose interest income was mis-reported and I wonder if HMRC has changed all their codes.
Trying to report the problem via the HMRC website, which is their preferred method, just sends you round in circles. I finally filled out an online form and now I have to wait at least 15 working days before I get any response.

Why so many things these days say refrigerate when opened.
Fair enough with some items, but pickled onions for example, they are preserved.

Never used to bung everything in the fridge, in fact when I was a nipper we didn't even have one.
Bought sterilised milk and especially in the colder weather kept stuff on our flat's balcony in a box called an Osokool

Apparently, there are far fewer preservatives in food these days so they have a shorter "open" life and need refrigeration once opened. Not sure why pickles need 'fridging though! (We have a tiny kitchen so use the fridge as a store cupboard as much as anything so pickles, ketchup, jam etc. does go in there.)

Ketchup is another odd one, can't see the local the caff's putting the red and brown sauces off the tables into the fridge.

I think pickles don’t have as high a concentration of vinegar/acetic acid as home made pickles did and also people don’t have larders or keep stuff on balconies etc.

Maybe right there, pickled red cabbage is the same, its get refrigerated, but seems a bit barmy to me.

It’s the same with cheese, which never was refrigerated when I was young (no fridge anyway, but a larder on north side of house. Cheese like Brie that ripened was bought ripe at the grocers cut off a big round so keeping was irrelevant. I generally don’t put Camembert etc in the fridge but buy stuff with long date (otherwise it may not ripen) and keep at room temp until ripe.

Ripen at home always seems to mean totally inedible, ok for a five minute window then needs throwing out.

We keep the butter we are using out in a butter dish, unusable otherwise for spreading.
Bacon also has a very short use by date considering its been smoked.
Just poured a bottle of Ribena away because my wife noticed it said refrigerate after opening, I hadn't.

Most of it in packets is very wet. It’s not made the traditional way so I doubt it’s safe to treat it that way. Pancetta (not sliced) is OK I think even unsmoked. I used to eat bacon raw in my childhood.

I went across to Tesco this lunch time for a few bits, spent about £23 on stuff like Breadcakes, Cereal, Ham, 2 multi packs of crisps (Tesco's own were out of stock), 2 cans of Pringles, a scientific calculator and a pack of batteries.

£2.50 each for Pringles? Eh? Up to the week before last they were doing them for half price, Clubcard prices.

I took the middle range quote, and saved 70 quid.

Today I received a new policy from them, starting on the 4th of Jan. with the auto comment at the bottom ...
Straight onto live chat to ask what the hell they think they are doing.
It seems it was an error on their part and my insurance was indeed cancelled :rolleyes:
So they decided to send me renewal documents 6 days after the policy expired, but couldn't manage to send me a renewal quote (ever) 21 days before
the expiry date.

Did I say I thought they were incompetent?
 
Having to do my "sample" for bowel cancer screening! Carers have my utter respect!:oops: :$

When Mrs Nod was a catering manageress, all the sauces went back in the fridge when food service was finished. Can't speak for other places.

Red n brown sauce bottles in the cupboard, mustard etc in fridge, diluting juice on the floor at the side of the fridge, beer has priority there.
