WAMT....what annoyed me today!

Just to be sure, I've checked Edge, Brave, Firefox, Chrome and the Tor Browser running on Windows 10 Home 10.0.19043. They all work as they should.

I'm typing this on Firefox 93.0 (20210927210923) Installed on: 9 October 2021, 09:05:04 - perhaps check what your version reports?

I'll look into that, thanks.

Not a cheap as those in the shell but far less frustrating!

We're getting the bathroom done and it's all starting at 08:45 this morning. So, I cleared the bathroom and the airing cupboard for access to the pipes and cleared the front door / hall area for access and storage of wet wall etc. 08:45 came and went and at 09:45 we got a call saying they'll be here next Monday.

Grrrrrr...

I suppose people fall for this scam. In my Inbox toad was a message to tell me that I'm the 5 billionth person to use Safari/Google search and as such I've won a prize and to click on one of the prize options. Seems they're after personal informations and card/ bank details The url is way too long to post.

This morning I got an email from lovehoney.co.uk saying my order (£86 odd) had been dispatched — I’d never heard of them, though apparently HM Queen has, but apparently they are the biggest seller of sex toys/aids in the country :).

The email was obviously genuine, the customer ha the same name as me but an address (which exists) in Poole, Dorset. Royal Mail tracking number is genuine. The email address is just “my name at mac.com” so I’m guessing his is something like “my name123 at mac.com” and it’s been corrupted somehow.

No way to contact the firm other than as the customer, which I’m not.

Why am I annoyed? Because it has been paid by Apple Pay, which I do use and so wonder if, since it’s associated with my Mac email address if it’s going to turn up in my debits. So far not, so my guess is it’ll be OK but… “:mad::mad:

Have fun!!!! ;)

Bloody autocowrecked - that was supposed to read "I lick toads..."

I wonder if sphexx will now start seeing "interesting" ads while online?
I may start to get spam from this firm if they have my email address stored. I could send a letter by post to the real customer -- actually there is a company regd at the address toobut I probably shan’t bother unless there’s a problem via Apple Pay -- which I don’t expect but … .

In town there was a bible basher with a microphone spouting bible passages. I'd class myself as a Christian but street preaching isn't my thing so I normally just ignore them. Anyway, about half a dozen teenagers were heckling her from a bench and one went up to her and got right in her face so I approached and said "We might not agree but this is her faith so why not just let her got on with it without the ridicule?" Surprisingly he immediately walked away and sat back down. I passed again 20 minutes later and they were still heckling her but from their seated position, which I thought irritating but not as intimidating as getting up in her face.

There is no excuse for being rude to someone, least of all in public. And to add such an intimidatory 'act' is beyond the pale :(

It was just his attitude that made me intervene. He was such an arogent intimidatory t@$$€r. They all were, just a pack mentality, just ugly.

On the other side:
I had a run in with one of these protest groups once, campaigning to stop testing medicines on animals.
I worked with one of the men and was walking past when he actually came up and said into my face
that me being a dog lover he expected me to sign the petition, I refused just wanting to carry on with my life,
but he kept on so I asked in very loud voice whether he had stop using the prescription medication he
used for a skin condition ? It stopped him and other people who may have signed also walked away losing
their support all because he couldn't take a simple refusal
So I don't support harassment on either side of these public speaking events we should be allowed to carry on with our beliefs etc without being set on by others
Do I support animal testing? well it depends what for, and I don't know enough to really get involved

Mum wanted a new light fixture for her bedroom. She’d asked me to order it for her as B&Q didn’t have it in stock. It arrived last week. Went to fix it up. Turns out there’s a part missing. I should have checked before fitting it. Given that it’s mass produced from the Far East, I’ll be unlikely to obtain a spare part and will need to send it back!

Some stupid prat racing past me on the dual carriageway, throwing up a stone causing a chip in the windscreen. Now I have to take the car in do have the chip repaired, or possibly a new screen.

Autoglass come to you and do a very good job. I used them last year, free with my insurance policy

I saw a van at the nearby bus stop yesterday. I thought the man was replacing the bus timetable. This morning I wondered what the white paint on the footpath was .I went over to check. It's a small bay for E -scooters. We're lucky because it's right opposite our neighbour's house next door but one so we won't see it unless we look that way but they'll look out onto the bikes from their living room. At least it's on the opposite side of the road..no houses there just a very wide grass verge to a brook and trees. I'll bet the scooters end up on the grass.

I was astounded at the speed of a chap, going to work I assume as it was 7.30am, on an E-scooter a couple of weeks ago. I guessed he must have been doing about 30mph + 30mph is the limit along our road. Infact, a car then drove by at a slower speed. The hired ones can only do 20mph so was he on his own scooter which is illegal ?

Then there are the kids that ride them along the footpath and in a haphazard manner on the road. Last week, my wife told me that when she got to the right turn she takes further along the road she saw a kid riding one of these, at speed, on the footpath parallel to her on her right as she approached the T junction and she said that she just knew he'd just go straight across the road (pavement to pavement) she was turning into without looking which is exactly what he did. If he carries on that like then he's going to come to grief..and soon, I'd have thought.

I Googled it. How does the scheme work ? A user has to sign up ..credit/debit card with the company and pay 99p (why not a pound ?) to unlock it then 15p- 20p per minute. That could mount up quite quickly. What if a user uses it to go to a supermarket for a few items ? The company insures the bikes.

..and this..thank goodness. A user should not ride an e-scooter while drunk or otherwise intoxicated; the user may be prosecuted under Section 4 and 5 Road Traffic Act 1988 drink and drug driving laws. This applies to all e-scooters. Careless and dangerous driving offences also apply to users of e-scooters [Section 2 and 3 Road Traffic Act 1988].A mobile phone must not be used when using an e-scooter.

Are they kidding ? A copy/paste. Not my bold.

How will e-scooters be made COVID-19 secure?

E-scooters will have a rigorous cleaning regime, ensuring that all DfT guidelines are following on cleaning and using antibacterial wash.

How much will they cost ,then? https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-news/real-cost-e-scooter-verses-18882496

From the article: The cost for a five mile journey at 5mph on a Voi e-scooter will be £12 (actual usage charged at 20p per minute) plus £1 unlock fee.

Grand total: £13 per scooter per person (no passengers allowed) per hour - equivalent to £2.40 per mile at 5mph.

For unlimited Voi use, the fee will be £40 per month, or £480 per year - even that price would be £22 more than it would cost to walk everywhere for free while treating yourself to three large Caffe Nero coffees at £3 each and every week.

But at least you'd get a 'free' helmet.

Voi was awarded a sole operator contract after a tender process launched by TfWM (Transport for West Midlands, part of the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA).

I've yet to see a kid riding one of these scooters who was wearing a helmet. So, in my world, 'what can happen, will happen'.

IMO they should be banned as a certain % of people just will not use them responsibly. But, I don't know how you can ban them as there are no police to enforce it. Apparently all the cops are tied up talking to people about social media posts that might upset 0.000000000000001% of the population who haven't complained anyway.

Of course they were.

Matthew Pencharz, a former Deputy Mayor of London for Environment and Energy under Boris Johnson, is taking the reins as the Swedish company’s new head of policy for the UK, Ireland and the Benelux countries.

Back in January I had a big fall out with one of my sisters caused by me having the temerity to ask her to come and sit with our mother for a few hours once a fortnight (day to be picked by sis) so that me and the Mrs could go out without worrying, go for a walk, maybe have a meal out. She went nuclear which is I suppose understandable considering how cruel and uncaring it was of me to ask her to do this. We've had no contact with her since then and even though she lives next door she hasn't contacted mam in any way, no card or phone call on mothers day or her birthday, nothing.

Anyway.

We're getting the bathroom done and as it's windy the workmen put some cardboard packaging between her garage and the boundary fence so we saw her again when she came round to complain.

My Loving Sister.

What is the old saying.......................you can choose your friends but not your family!

Just been to B&Q. You know there are people who will park next to you in an otherwise empty car park? Well, I had one who parked directly behind me which annoyed me as I had to get a wheel chair out and then back in again. Morons. Morons for doing this when there were any number of places to park and doubly so at a place like B&Q as you can reasonably expect people to be loading bulky stuff into their cars.

I always park nose-in if I need to access the boot.

There's a reason...

In this car park the parking bays are on the left or right as you drive along. I turned in to the left and pulled through one spot into the front one and someone then parked immediately behind me. Having the rear or the car facing outwards sounds like an easy fix but it causes issues if there's likely to be people driving past as I need quite a bit of space to be able to lift the wheel chair out of the boot, step back and turn around and put it down and of course doing this makes me next to invisible to the morons who think they're Lewis Hamilton and can't wait 30 seconds for a bloke to get a wheel chair out of a car and put it down.

I know that feeling far too well - I'd like to put them in a wheelchair so they can see how tough it is.

Is the wheelchair user eligible for a disabled parking permit? Could reduce problems. Choosing a better parking spot might be an option too - I avoid the racetrack "aisles" as a matter of course.

I don't see how as stepping back into potential traffic is the issue if I pull front first into a parking bay leaving the boot pointing out into traffic and having a moron park behind me is the issue if I park the other way. As happened today.

Oh, and I did choose a great parking spot. I couldn't have chosen a better one as there were empty bays all around so that I could open the passenger door for easy aided egress and open the boot and get the chair out freely without obstructions or stepping back into potential traffic. It's just that some moron decided to park immediately behind me when they could have parked in any number of other empty bays. Why they chose to do this is another matter, like those numpties who insist on parking next to a car in an otherwise empty car park.

It's depressing how many people show so little patience despite it being obvious what I'm doing and just try to drive passed doing 20-30mph, in a car park. And once we're out and about there are those who will just stand in the way until I say "Excuse me, can we just squeeze through there please?"

Assuming there was no barrier between the two spaces, the answer is you should have parked half way into the rear space and thus left no room for the encroacher! :).

As I'm car mad I like to do things right and so always park pretty much perfectly. I wouldn't be able to sleep if I parked in two bays :D

We went to two shops today. At one the parking behind me incident occurred and at the other I did have the option of parking outside the shop with the boot to the walkway and shop but if I'd done that I would have blocked the walkway while I got the chair out and set it up and that could have been an opportunity for someone looking for one to see a problem. Such people exist. So again parking with the boot pointing out and stepping out into potential traffic was the choice. I just wish people had a bit more common sense when parking (why park next to or behind/in front of another car when there are 50 other places to park? Madness. IMO) and patience when someone is doing something obvious, like dealing with a wheel chair, push chair or some other bulky item.

Could be habit. Over the years I’ve mostly parked off road in various places and for small events with small car parks so when I arrive I always park tight to the nearest one to make room for others. Not sure if I do that in ‘empty’ supermarket car parks but I may do ‘unconsciously’ :(.
