WAMT....what annoyed me today!

Nissan. Wanting £440 for a map update SD card when every other map update from a normal manufacturer is either a) free with servicing or b) no more than about £100 a time.

Certainly not paying that. It's daylight robbery.

Before anyone says - no I don't want to use Waze on my phone! I want a car with normal permanent maps not mobile data affected ones.

I still have an AA road atlas on the back seat, in case technology fails or f***s up.
I carry one also (y)
But its amazing how many people don't seem to be able to read one.

For the second time in the 35+ years that I've owned an SLR (and also the second time in 6 months) I've lost the eyecup surround off my camera. They're only £6 but

I don't drive in the UK if I can avoid it, but I carried an SA equivalent to the AA road atlas for donkey's years. We drove a lot of kms together and it never failed me...:)

Blasted Royal Mail !!

Heard the post dropping through my door yesterday. I knew a small package was coming that would make a 'thunk' as it dropped in [ had been waned of that ] about a hour later went upstairs to front door to collect post [ house is on a slope ] and found as well as the package a 'sorry we missed you ' card for a signed for delivery.

Now I have to treck to the local Delivery Office to get it. There was absolutely no attempt to ring the door bell to tell me of this . It also was not the usual postie - he knows to come to the back door and in fact often leaves my post there [ my house is a corner house and he passes the back entrance to turn left into the road itself] . I'm slightly disabled and try and limit the number of times I climb the stairs.

Grrrrrrr

And my WAMT has now become a RANT !!

just back from the trek to get my little packet from Belarus which was a failed attempt to deliver to me yesterday.

Got to the Royal Mail Delivery Office - and explained the situation - handed over the red card and off he went to get the packet.

Was away for quite some time - AND

It can't be found !!

I'm not going to be able to pick it up once they have found it as I'll be carless till after the weekend. They have my phone number so I'm waiting for an update

@camerassassin You can get them just to re-deliver on another day. I usually do that to save the trek to the sorting office unless I want it immediately.

Oh I know that - but my deliveries are usually in the afternoon when I tend to be out !!

I'll be using taxis for the next couple of days

I get those sometimes, as we all do, what really p***es me off though is getting to the door just as the card is sliding through ...
opening the door to Errr no sorry I don't actually have it with me!
WTF!
Its not really a big deal, as I pass the sorting office most days, however I do think its a p*** take when someone has paid for delivery and they obviously CBA to carry it.
Even very small items.

I have had similar experiences too. My pet bugbear is the one when Royal Mail leave a card & you go to the sorting office the next day only to be told the package has not been returned to the depot yet by the postman......

See my post earlier on the same subject - they couldn't find my package yesterday , said they would phone me about it and I'm still waiting for that phone call.

And remember I was IN when they delivered my post - and they didn't bother to ring the b..... door bell :(

they couldn't find my package yesterday ,
That's only ever happened to me once. I demanded to see the duty manager as I wanted to start an official compliant.
He promised to phone me back in two hours ( I would rather have stood around and made a fuss, but I had to go to work.
To be be fair within the hour I had a call.
It seems the item was "At the back of the van" and not checked in at the end of the previous shift

That's a good idea - I'll head back to the Delivery Office tomorrow [ as if I've nothing better to do with my time ] and start the process :)

I think I'll enjoy this

Got nowhere when I went back - no Manager available as he finishes at 2pm - and this was 3.15!!

I have phoned them this morning- [was given the Manager's phone number] and surprise surprise he was not aware of the problem.

He now has tracking number - date it left Belarus , date it arrived in Langley and of course the date of the failed delivery etc etc .

He says he'll investigate and phone me back

hmmmmmmmmm

After getting our shopping delivered from Morrison's with no missing items I asked the wife "where's the dog food?" oh I forgot to add it. Following a few expletives I now have to go chasing dog food in the morning and I really hate shopping.

Bloody typical, spawn in the pond and now the "late frosts" appear. Its been the same the last 5 years or so.
Dead spawn a few days after it was laid.
Last year I bought a small clump inside and raised about 200 froglets. I only lost a couple from the whole clump.

This year I put a small polythene tent over the main two of three clumps.
The small one is mid water in the plants.
The two larger ones are very much in the shallows ...
Time will tell ..

Horticultural fleece? Works on tenderish plants and allows gas transfer.

I don't want to cover them completely and also want the sun to shine on it.
Hopefully it'll also raise the temperature slightly now the sun is showing its face (y)

It annoyed me yesterday to find one of my lazy neighbours had dumped her sofa outside the flats just like she has been doing with other random bits of furniture.
Now it looks like she has really annoyed someone else.
Someone has stuck two A4 sheets of paper on the wall next to the sofa addressed to the selfish resident living in the block and stating they are fed up of their crap.
This particular woman and her daughters, eldest around 14 or 15, never put their rubbish bags in the big metal rubbish bins in the rubbish shed, they are usually dumped outside the rubbish shed door so you have to move them to open the door, or they are on the floor just inside the shed door in front of the two bins. They have even dumped them behind the sheds next to the footpath that leads towards the main footpath and road.
The note was finished on the second sheet of paper, saying something about seeing them next Tuesday.
I just can't work out if the note has come from another neighbour or whether it is someone from the caretaker agency.

I ordered two sets of exercise resistance bands last Friday. Both should have turned up Wednesday or yesterday. One seller messaged me a few days ago to say they were out of stock of one of the bands and wanted to know what size I would like as a replacement. The other seller is now displaying they are away until the 25th which wasn't there when I placed the order and not sure why they are still displaying the message on the 27th.
Mind you haven't seen anything of the post woman for a couple of days.

Yup all gym equipment seems to be very sparse after gyms were closed. I’ve seen adjustable dumbbells being offered up on ebay for £1500 to £2000 but would have retailed for £400 or so. I was watching a used set on ebay which would have cost £500 brand new go for £750.

So I need to look at bodyweight exercises and drag the pull out bar from its hiding place in the garage

I managed to get a fluid turbo trainer for £119 new last weekend, arrived on Wednesday but it took some searching. All others seemed to be around £200 or more.

the tyre for it from another vendor on the other hand hasn’t arrived, also no sign of postman today...

Damn and blast!

Every Autumn, the damned leaves from next doors beech tree always end up in my garden, ( prevailing wind)
The last few days have been bright "still" and sunny.

That'll be a great opportunity to finally get the leaf blower / sucker out and clear them.
So I woke up to half a gale, and the leaves are blowing around the garden in a mini typhoon style.
There goes that idea then :(

As posted in another thread, WAMT is (my incompetence in hitting the feckin') caps lock!!!

BTCC race season was supposed to start today at Donington.
As the start is currently postponed until May, they held a vote for fans to nominate their favourite 3 Donington races, The top 3 to be streamed online.
I get a notification to tell me it is about to start and click on the link only for a Cookies message to appear on my phone that covers the whole screen. No possibility of scrolling to find a cancel or accept tab, so I can't watch it on my phone. I get my laptop out and go on their site, no links or anything to watch the streamed races.

Just checking that you have tried rotating your phone?

Sometimes the orientation change gives access to "hidden" stuff.
