WAMT....what annoyed me today!

They should all listen to the Musical Youth, chill out and pass it on the left hand side
Well as it is allegedly a cooking pot, not quite sure what that would do to help?
:p

So, they're dressed in black, no lights, and high as a kite! :D
Oops yes good point well made...but lets face it, they probably are :P

You aren't supposed to drive for three hours after pupil dilation. Tut tut.

2 hours, so it's a good job I took Mrs Nod so she could drive me home after the photos had been taken. No need for me to look at the traffic lights. ;)

So...bright brake lights...close your eyes or wear sunglasses. Job done.

Oh it definitely is, but not in the original lyrics. Musical Youth substituted a K for a D in their version to avoid blacklisting by The Beeb. :angelic:

My stop/start doesn't work if my foot isn't on the brake.
Not even if you put in neutral (manual) or park (auto)? My stop start works if I brake, move to park then release foot brake. Engine stays off until I put in Drive.

Looking through my shots from yesterdays visit to Yorkshire Wildlife Park and realise my Sigma 100-300 f/4 has an issue as the right hand side of all the shots from around 135-300mm are soft. Tried it on the tripod this morning against a brick wall and there is definitely issues. Its an old lens of no great value so i think its uneconomical to repair. Now to persuade the wife I need a new lens.

That's definitely a case of replacing like for like so unless you need to watch the finances (or she watches yours!), she'll probably never spot the fresh lens!

WAMT is the weather. Drizzling just enough to make a raincoat necessary some of the time and cool enough to need a fleece when the raincoat comes off. Warm enough to make the fleece and raincoat too hot!

Upgrade time. on the look out for a Nikon 300mm f/4 :-)

If it's a similar size, see above post!

Bloody mobile phone companies! Upgraded online today via Carphone Warehouse. All good until I find out that the new sim has been activated which deactivates the old one. New phone doesn't arrive until tomorrow! Apparently, this is to ensure that you get up and running as soon as possible after you get your new phone. Great, the few minutes saved by not having to activate the sim when the new phone arrives is well worth not having a phone for 24 hours! :banghead:

That's a dreadful idea. I'd be onto their CS demanding the current sim is reinstated immediately.

If it's on EE they control which sims work and are attached to which numbers. If it's on an MVNO then they do but they may rely on the base network. I'd still put in a formal complaint as leaving someone without phone access isn't on. Make the most of having a disability and you might get some compo out if then as it's frankly ridiculous. You don't know the phone will arrive tomorrow for certain either.

Very poor.

I tried that. EE said it was Carphone Warehouse, Carphone warehouse said it was EE, both said there was nothing they could do!
Don't you just love these companies when they do that? :(

Yeah, I will be raising a complaint. The phone has been dispatched and I'll get an hourly slot in the morning from DPD so fingers crossed there. I have to go to Physio tomorrow as well so here's hoping that, if the phone doesn't arrive before I leave, that the car doesn't break down!

They really haven't thought through their policy at all!

Indeed. I'm guessing that it was thought up for people signing up to new contracts and some dufus din't think about what would happen if people were upgrading.

Anyway, whenever I've upgraded before, I've never used the new sim, I've always just moved the old one over.

They seem to send new sims now. They're the new multi ones that can be about 4 different sizes.

I buy phone independently then I'm not tied to anyone. I also keep a spare sim on another network just in case. Not that I'm paranoid or anything. ...

I've been in a dispute with Country Attire over some wellington boots, basically after 4 hours of use the liner started to come apart and rub on the heel. At first they didn't want to know, they they responded that they discussed it (unseen as they didn't authorise a returned) with Barbour and that the fault can't be there it is just wear and tear. Then I posted the story up on Facebook and miraculously they accepted a return but only to investigate and no guarantee of a refund. Now they've had the boots, I receive an email message stating that there is no fault in those boots and it is normal wear and tear (4 hours use!!!), but on this occasion as a goodwill gesture they will issue a refund.

I have to count to ten, be gracious and say thank you for the refund, but gosh Country Attire you really need to sort your customer service, they've really mastered the art of winding up your customers. I accept issues happen, but depending on how you resolve them will affect whether I will buy from you again. And ahem, no not really.

Finding the other piece of chicken in the cupboard I left to cool yesterday so the cat couldn't get it. Now the bin has it.

Somehow managing to forget my small rucksack when I got off a train today whilst travelling to visit my Mum for Christmas. :(.

Now got to hope it's been handed in to lost property otherwise I've lost my Kindle, tablet and my Canon compact camera, at least it wasn't my 7D.

Just to make it even more annoying the charger for my phone was in it as well and although she's got a couple of chargers neither has a USB C cable

Fog.

HMRC 2 factor authentication.

Under 5 year old imac getting the blockies again which means the graphics card is definitely knackered now.

Orange/EE's billing department who can't get a regular card payment right then cut the phone off (for outgoing calls) with no notice. Other than being unable to automatically pay their bill, I'm perfectly happy with them.

Worth trying an MVNO that works on EE. Plusnet let you set up DDs. I'm just about to move to them with their MSE special. £10 a month for unlimited minutes, texts and 4GB of data.

No idea what an MVNO is. I don't "do" DDs and definitely not with a company whose billing department are so so**ing incompetent as EE's! What I want is to be sent a monthly bill so I can go to the bank and pay it with a cheque. 20th century, maybe BUT it works for all the utilities and I know the bills have been paid.

Good grief. No wonder you have bother. Nobody wants cheques!

MVNO is mobile virtual network operator. They're operators like Virgin (they're on EE) and Giffgaff (o2) that don't own their own network but use the infrastructure but do all the customer service and billing.

DD have guarantees. They have to refund if they cock up. They're probably a safer way to pay.

They can have as many guarantees as they like but they still get FUBAR! Yes, you get your money back eventually but it's a PITA and a waste of time.

Just had another happy customer. I don't know how she managed it but some how ordered and paid for two separate orders by mistake. She has only just noticed 10 days on yet its my fault and expected me to have notice she had ordered twice. I only packed 250 items that day. :banghead:

You get your money back rather quickly and easily, in fact.
They're far more likely to fubar a regular card payment.
Oh wait, you're already finding that..... ;)

Aha, so it is you who goes to the branch of a bank. I always wondered why people actually go in.

Everything is DD for me, that way I can't forget it, get a discount, save on petrol and the environment, don't have to leave the house, don't have to queue. But to be fair I've not known it any other way. When I moved to the UK 20 years ago the daughter of the landlady had to show me how to write a cheque, never seen or used something that old fashioned in my life. Ever since I've had a bank account I've been able to operate it electronically.

I've been with Orange (and then EE) since 1998 and have had a DD for most of that time. Not a single payment issue yet.
Purely anecdotal of course, but thought I'd mention it.

Updated my iPhone 6+ to 10.2 and then found that plugging in the Thunderbolt/USB lead to the socket in the car no longer works. Before this when I plugged it in and pressed the Aux button twice it connected the iPhone to the car's sound system, now it doesn't. This has rendered it impossible to play and control my music via the car's system. If I was driving a 10 or more year old car I wouldn't mind so much but the car is a 14 plate Meriva.

I have used Apple computers, since 1993 and their phones since 2011, but Apple's present attitude of producing computers which are sealed and can only be repaired by them, with a cut off date of 5 years, of obsoleting stuff with no warning when an upgrade is issued and then preventing anyone removing the update to go back to the previous operating system is rapidly pushing me to abandon them.

I haven't checked but no doubt they will inform me that I need to purchase an additional item at their inflated prices and all will be well.

Is the lead a genuine Apple one?

Might be something silly like starting the music app on the phone again and checking the output is set to the car.

Finding the back up which had merrily being saying it had completed promptly was in fact near empty. idrive had an issue with the back up growing for no reason. Now they have screwed it up the other way. Now frantically trying to upload small critical things into icloud and hoping that the mac migration tool actually works and manages to move things before the old mac dies completely.
