WAMT....what annoyed me today!

It's why l never use my IP mail for anything but their stuff, saves messing about when you change.
I've been with them since dial up days, long before Gmail, I'd never use hot mail etc.
But over the last couple of years or so, I've been slowing deleting the dozen tesco.net email addy's and switching to Gmail
in readiness for D-Day :D

Yes. Never ever use the email address from your Internet provider. Firstly you'll be less likely to chop and change provider if the prices are not favourable. And secondly you'll annoy your friends and family every time and force them to faff around changing your email when it is totally unnecessary.

It really doesn't matter what address you use, as they will just hit reply.
Just use the same "from" name, and its simple.

The cowboy builder/repair man at work. We have two bunkers outside with those roller shutters on them, only one keeps breaking with the shuttering coming out of it's runners. It's been bust all summer, but I was assured today it had been fixed - and subsequently filled with half a tonne of coal. Great - until closing time and shutter closing time arrived, when I discover the prat has made it (the repair is basically two blocks of wood to stop the shutter sliding out of it's runners sideways or being able to be pushed back far enough that it falls out of the end) so that the shutter is now off centre, the lock is not actually dropping over the staple because it's half an inch over from where it should be and he's taken all the sideplay out of the shutter so there is no way in hell it will close. Result is having to lug said half tonne of coal back inside the shop - and I'm going to have to repeat this every night I'm on till it gets sorted!

That works for replies, of course, but I find it easier to use Gmail. I run it through Outlook because I prefer the interface/tools and it works internationally, wherever there's an internet connection.

Er... No. To do that you'll have to search for an email from them. Hope you find one. Hope it's from their new address. Hope you know which is which. And this has to be done by every single person that knows them.
And all the online things that they've signed up for will need to be changed too.

And you know what? It's all for no good reason.

The funniest ones are those who use it for their business. Plastered their tiscali or BT Internet email a adresses over their vans and literature.

I never understood that but always made me smile.

Especially when alongside their purchased www. address.

None of them initiate contact then? ;0)
No need, I stay in regular contact with my err contacts.
Its not like its a FB numbers game where I have 1000's of "so called friends" the next email I send is from a new address.
Obviously if you are running an on line business you would have used a specific web site based email for that.
Which of course brings its own problems, if you fall out with your web host, or they go out of business, ;)

I never have signed up for 100's of things on line, a few spare minutes soon sorts out the utilities, banks et al
Besides swapping IPs is never instant it takes a couple of weeks or so, plenty of time to do that.

This swap has been on the cards for a long time, and slowly Gmail has been replacing and consolidating the other specific emails.

I use outlook too. I was a bit annoyed when that nasty bloke did away with express, and you had to buy outlook separately though.
Opera mail is pretty good too, ( and free) I have that on my lap top.

If you don't have many email address AND you are not in a habit of storing them offline, then the Windows 10 build in mail client is very good. Much better integration with GMail than Outlook does for some bizarre reason. I can't get Outlook to sync with gmail properly for e-mail AND contacts AND calendaring which then makes using Outlook a bit pointless to me.

Always buy you domain separately from the hosting, and keep control over it. It is really easy to point it to another hosting provider and off you go. Or like I do, I have three e-mail servers in different geographical locations, and separate hosting providers, costs me about $10/month. Mail servers are setup redundant so no issue if one goes down or out of business. Might not be for everyone, but anyone running a business should really get some professional advice and do this right.

If you don't have many email address
I had about a dozen, because " I could" and it was a novelty many years ago, now its less than half that with message rules and folders.
then the Windows 10 build in mail client is very good
I've heard of windows 10, its something to do with a W7 upgrade ( *cough* ) right?
:p

I can't get Outlook to sync with gmail properly for e-mail
Mine syncs a little too well TBH, I didn't realise what it was doing when I set it up.
When I get time, I'm "deleting" it all and setting it up Pop3 ( with no sync)

costs me about $10/month.
Mine doesn't cost me anything :D

I still use Office 2007 which came with Outlook, so I haven't run into that. No desire to 'upgrade' and I'll cross that bridge if I ever have to...just like W10 :D

Bins still not collected even after several promises they would be. Utter shower of a council have taken refuse back in house and screwed it up so badly some people haven't had their bins collected for a month. Makes the previous private contractor look ultra efficient.

The point is, I like the Outlook mail interface and loath the Gmail one. My contacts rarely change, and I don't use the calendars, so syncing isn't an issue for me.

Have you ever been gardening and lost the secateurs, why do they make them with green handles.:(

the good ones have red handles. Not cheap but they're bloody good! (Felco.)

Getting photobombed by a dragonfly when trying to get a kingfisher :(

This constant damn heat!

WAMT was the sudden thunderstorm and downpour that lasted half an hour and ruined my plans for tomorrow's gardening.

my new glasses, i got them with the transition lenses thinking they would be good as sunglasses in the car. But they dont work in a car do they since the windows block out the transition triggering UV! So im now still being blinded in the car but when i get out they go dark and then im blundering around indoors for a few minutes as i cant see anything! Transitions, dont bother!

That's a very good thread and I'm going to write a lot! Sorry for this.

Today a man in the wheelchairs asked me to buy something in the shop, cos he cannot access to it! This shop doesn't have a lift or just a rump! And I'm not better than people with disabilities, why I can come in and they aren't able to do it?
The government tell us that they are against the disability discrimination: https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/d...ause-of-disability/disability-discrimination/
"The law gives certain basic rights to all consumers of goods, facilities and services", they say. And similar blah blah blah...
And if I read the legal blogs they convince us that is very easy to receive an aid and protection: http://www.pibriefupdate.com/conten...786-in-a-position-that-requires-legal-support
But that is paid as I'm sure, what's about a free support of people with disabilities?

I think that if the people with the disability had a free lawyer, they would have an ability to protect their humanity from those, who don't respect them.

P.S. It was a long speech, but I felt so ashamed today :(

I'm sorry, but that post makes no sense to me whatsoever.

Did you actually get what that person wanted?

Did you actually get what that person wanted?
Yes, he wanted to buy bread, butter and sausages. But he cannot enter to the shop 'cos the shop doesn't have the entrance ramp for wheelchairs.
So I have bought that for him.
I was so emotion and I have described that very complicated. Sorry...

For many reasons, not every premises can make the necessary adjustments for their premise to be accessible.
It doesn't make them bad.

I'm depressed it's the last day of summer today. And I'm wasting it. It would be a perfect evening to go out and enjoy the last beergarden. Because tomorrow the bad weather begins.

I'm trying to avoid any excess drinking, as on Saturday the Oktoberfest begins. And all that extra beer drinking that goes with it. With visitors and friends expecting me to take them there. Which is nice. But can I handle the pace?

Indeed, although I have seen signs in shop windows saying "ramp available on request" so they can do something if they really want to.

I'm sure that's true in some cases.

Definitely was for me. Only problem with those older style shops is that, once I was in the shop, I couldn't really get round it very well as space was so tight (wasn't a food shop).
Must be a PITA, but I don't think it's reasonable to expect 100% of premises to be accessible...not that I'm saying you are. But some do.

Seeing footage of some low life bint somewhere in Burnley kicking two dogs while she was out walking them. Hope karma bites her all over not just in the arse.

Haven't got a clue why that would, or could, raise anyone's blood pressure.
Sweeping and raking a woodland floor?
.. no idea how they're expecting stag beetles if that's their approach to over-managing the environment. And it makes folk think it's useful/desirable.
