No warning signs, just a narrow bit of lane with a muddy bits at the side, that these idiots feel the need to drive down the middle of, my car is front wheel drive
so if it loses grip on the mud I have no chance of pulling out, at least they can go into 4WD drive and pull themselves out with the 2 wheels that still have traction.
But as usual you will argue that this isn't the case and I should move right onto the verge just so they can stay in the middle out of any mud, lets face they can't get
their nice shiny Chelsea Tractors dirty.
 
Or they don't want to damage their wheels or tyres on unseen rocks, tree roots or fallen away road edges? If they have 4wd they probably don't want the expense of replacing 4 tyres because they've gouged one. I certainly wouldn't.

But why would i then have to be the party that is the only one moving over? I just don't get that mentality. It will be so much easier and smoother traffic for all when both parties give a little way to each other.

Mine are 21" polished AMG, but ffs it's just a car. They go easily off-road, through fords on Tarmac and soft verges.

They stay out well into the middle of the road, ok so it's narrow but 2 vehicles could easily pass if both kept to tier own side near the edge,

Arrogance or they truly don't know how wide their vehicles are ?

If they find everyone else dives into the verge and let's them through then they'll have little reason to change will they?

I always move over just enough for them to pass. Assuming they also move over a little ;)

No they won't; luckily in our vehicle just me moving onto the verge won't be enough. They will have to move some as well :)

Nothing annoys me any more. It used to but there's 2 simple rules.
1. Don't sweat the small stuff.
2. In the grand scheme of the cosmos, its ALL small stuff.

When I drive, I give way to everyone, not so much for the people, but for the piece of God they carry inside them. And I leave early enough to never feel rushed, I could park for 30 minutes and still be early.

Life is too short and far too precious to let little things get to you.

Lol I did a similar thing once. Quite a while ago and I was in our Nissan Patrol GR at the time. The Leighton Buzzard road towards Hemel Hempstead has a small bridge. Going south you have right of way. I was already committed going south, my front wheels were on the bridge, and this older woman (no the way she swore she was no lady) came racing up and didn't stop. She actually came onto the bridge and the daft person wanted to go past me. Well good luck with that. I just came to a halt and looked with amazement on what she was trying to do. Then put my car in neutral and handbrake on and switched the engine off. Then started checking my email. She then tried to get passed me and scraped the side of her car on the stone wall whilst ranting and raving. The van driver behind her got his camera out and was laughing. She finally decided to back up and let southbound traffic pass. Whilst shouting abuse that she had right of way, she really believed it.

I really don't get what's wrong with some people. Although I have to admit that if I felt threatened in anyway, I would have continued my journey and just push her out of the way (I couldn't go back as traffic was queuing up).

I know it well and its a [PLEASE DON'T TRY TO BYPASS THE SWEAR FILTER] of a bridge, why the hell they haven't done anything with it I shall never know.

The ones that amuse me also, they see you coming down a line of cars, with the parked cars on your right, and yet come blasting through in the hope that you will somehow
magically disappear, Eaton Bray is a good one for that.
 
Yes I know that road in Eaton bray as well. It's all the lorries and buses that go down those roads. Definitely was the case 15 years ago to this extend. Shame everyone got Satnav in their vehicles now as it is ruining those nice pieces of our country side.

I stopped just in time myself on this road :)

There's now a 7.5 T weight limit on that road, but I did see an artic using it the other day :rolleyes:

I was tempted to follow the tyre tracks and then right. Just a bit concerned if I couldn't back up :)

Nor the white and red arrows on a sign ;) or even if it wasn't that, the fact that someone else was already on the single lane bridge.

A bit like what cobra highlighted earlier, even if people have right of way but the oncoming party is already committed why try and push through?
 
My daughter got hit head on by a G4S van in similar circumstances, priority was hers, and she was only about 3 metres from exiting the bridge.
The van driver accused her of speeding etc and despite the police saying it was his fault he still went to one of those no win no fee PI claim people.
It took nearly 2 years for it to be sorted in here favour and get her NCB back, the one thing she regretted is not putting in a counter PI claim

That must have been horrible. Don't get what speeding had to do with it, even if she was, sound like she was on the bridge and the VAN wasn't therefore he shouldn't get on it...
 
She wasn't speeding, I know the road well and it just isn't possible, plus it was a wet evening.
Her car was a write off but she was ok, and that's what counts.
I'd just bought another car and made her drive back from her works a couple of days later,
drive herself to work the next day, she was getting a bit nervy and had to get driving again asap.
Let's face it if she had done any damage to my new car it's only a load of metal and it meant
she got back in the driving seat, which apparently isn't easy after a head on.

But that's what the offending party always claims. It seems to make them feel better.
And they are usually the ones that accelerate into trouble!
 
WAMT (technically yesterday). I spent the weekend in London, which meant driving along roads and having to share them with other motorists who by and large seem sensible. Except for those twits who cause accidents and near-accidents.

  • A few times I saw lorries in the left hand lane of the motorway suddenly indicate and pull out into the middle lane. Which then causes the driver in the middle lane to panic and pull out into the right hand lane, which means I have to hit the brakes (already covered by the time I saw the lorry starting to pull out).
  • People doing less 60mph in the outside lane of a four-lane motorway for no good reason. Even on cruise control in the left hand lane, I was undertaking most drivers. For some inexplicable reason, nobody wanted to be in the left hand lane despite the fact that it was largely empty.
  • Drivers not checking their mirrors before changing lanes, being caught surprised by a vehicle next to them and swerving back.
  • Road traffic accidents. Thankfully they all appeared to be minor but it turned a two hour journey into a three-and-a half hour one.
  • London roads, their layouts and other London drivers. You try and drive "properly" and you'll get screwed or experience close-calls in terms of collision. Drive like a ***** and you'll do fine.
 
WAMT? I might need to start taking antibiotics tomorrow - one of them MUST not be combined with alcohol and the other causes hypersensitivity to sunlight. Ideal for a Crete holiday!!!

If the first is Metronidazole....that MUST is very very true indeed.

That's the b*****d! Can't remember exactly why but I have a feeling it's something to do with it changing the alcohol to formaldehyde or similar.

Bit of a PITA but hopefully the problem will self cure (usually does) and I won't have to resort to the antibiotics. Only got them since I'm not sure how easily available they are in Crete so prefer to have a course with me just in case. The diverticulitis is just grumbling a bit - more discomfort than real bellyache (and none of the other nastier symptoms) so I'll hold off on the tablets unless it deteriorates.

In the great scheme of things though, being dry for a week and being covered in factor 50 rather than 30 isn't the end of the world - I can still eat (and the diet over there suits my digestion perfectly!)
 
I doubt it's formaldehyde.
Not sure they'd be prescribing it on the off chance that some numpties won't drink on it.
The symptoms are supposedly extremely unpleasant though.

Trying to get a coffee and a bite to eat, called into my "usual" Mac D's for a breakfast wrap and a large, Cappuccino,
Baring in mind this was about 09:30 and in the middle of an industrial estate / small retail outlet square.
The Place was heaving with kids and the queue was almost back to the door, you can wait 10 mins if there is 2 people in front of you,
I thought b****r this I'm off to the burger van down the road.

"CarlsBurger" ( yes really) wasn't there :( Carls always there .... just not today :(

Next stop, Shell garage on the A11 police forensics all over it, yep you guessed it, they wouldn't even serve me a coffee :(

... I got one in the end, albeit nearly an hour after my first attempt!

You're right, it's not formaldehye. But I'm right too in that it's similar - acetaldehyde (apparently). Whatever the product, I shall not be drinking if I have to resort to the drugs!

Or explain to the Dr that you're about to go on holiday and ask if there is another suitable antibiotic that could be prescribed which doesn't interact badly with alcohol.
The old tale that alcohol reduces the efficacy of antibiotic is a myth.
