WAMT....what annoyed me today!

Calliper might just need a strip down and clean, pads always have to be replaced in pairs though

I'd always change brake items in pairs. Most calipers can be refurbished. I'd probably get the other caliper checked and refurbished otherwise it will just happen again but on the other side. They usually seize for a reason so you have to remove the cause or it'll just do it again and eat another set of pads.

I looked on ECP and they are only about £65. As the car has done 110K miles and was stood still for nearly two years it probably won't hurt. I'll do an inspection in the weekend as I've still got another car until March.

Appreciate the insights.

AT LEAST in pairs. I get the whole axle done at the same time (as in all the pads/shoes).

Stupid garmin plugin deleted my FF session even though the stupid bloody thing doesn't even work in FF any more. 60 tabs GONE. So many important things to remember that are now lost. WTF would anyone program a browser plugin to DELETE an entire user session? I deliberately closed FF so this piece of crap couldn't meddle.

New phone arrived after 2 weeks of waiting (supposed to have been 2-5 day delivery!) and it's faulty, not to mention it's a bloody Israeli model.

Might be worth reading through this

Restore from previous session option is greyed out.... That's why I'm annoyed otherwise it would have been trivial to fix!
How about this one? You might have to search to find where FF has stored your sessiontrestore.bak files

It's screwed it up big style. The previous recovery file is there but it won't use it. I'm on a mac anyway so windows file locations aren't that much help ;)

Fortunately Idrive back up is pretty good and I've dumped in all the session files it had before from yesterday morning's back up :)

Do you guys think that can be fixed, or just pushed open or is it a new calliper job? Do they have to be changed in pairs?
You can buy repair kits. The piston seal has probably let a bit of dirt or dust in, new seals and clean up any score marks on the piston and bore and you should be good to go. No reason to change the callipers in pairs if changing is your intention, but obviously new pads should be fitted to both sides.

Sounds like water ingress has caused rust and seized the piston, stopping the calliper from releasing. For the sake of £65, replacing the calliper maybe the way to go, unless of course you're like me and get a kick out of fixing something. You may find just forcing the piston back in is enough to remove the surface rust and get it working again, just don't leave it standing for 2yrs next time. Having said that I had a calliper seize after the car had only been standing for 2 weeks.

I'll take take a look first this weekend and assess the damage :) yes definitely will do the pads in pairs. But will see if I can clean it up and whether it goes again.

The brakes are the least of my worries after two years. The moss on the canvas roof is seriously taking some elbow effort to get off. Each cleaning session gets better but hard work :)

What's the point of having kids if you can't get them cleaning your car(s)?

WAMT was the bin men arriving at 07:30. Luckily I was awake and managed to get a pair of trousers on and the bin out. Wasn't really annoyed by them being that early, more with myself for not having the bin out ready for them. Mind you, last week they were late and the recycling bin had blown over - that resulted in this week's rubbish bin being fuller than normal, stuffed with dirty wet paper...

In the space of five minutes I have seen numerous times the word "effected" used in place of the correct term "affected"

Beginning to think that spellng and grammar are no longer taught at school

Nor punctuation :)

Trying to get chair cover back on after washing it.... Now feels like sitting on top of a mole hill it's that lumpy

While English is probably taught in most European schools, I would guess that the vocabulary taught is fairly small and those here with English as a second language are using words as they hear them. I would suggest that their command of English is better than most of ours (English as a first language) is of any other European language.

BTW, JP, you need a full stop in there!!! ;)

For another day, Kenwood. Gone to the trouble of doing the hassling steps to update the maps to find a) new maps aren't online FFS! and b) you have to update the unit's firmware which can brick the thing before you can have a map anyway. It won't let you update the map via USB. You have to mess about with microSD cards. You can't update the firmware with microSD you can only use usb.

Ha, you passed the test.

Garmin again. Finally managed to get a map after going round in circles on their website and on kenwoods for about an hour. It had better work!

WAMT - The government wasting time and money debating whether or not to have a national anthem just for England

Discovering a small security issue in a website I deployed - all fixed now but should never have happened *slaps wrists*

I am sure there will be loads more ;) thats just one you know about...

So it is almost 10pm and my neighbor has just started sawing and hammering

Walking along a disused railway and path blocked by fallen tree - that wasn't annoying as much as when I got home I checked the location on the map and not 1 feet beyond the fallen tree is another access I could have used and continued my journey. That's what I get for not having a map on me!

Wamt: got a doctors appointment for 9:10 this morning. And it's already running behind schedule.

But it was worth it; he took his time with me as well. Awaiting an appointment for a Brain/Neck MRI now to see if it can shine a light on the loss of power in my right arm...Funny that as I went in for ringing in my ear :)

Sounds like you need to visit a Chiropractor. My mate was having trouble with his ears, the doctor referred him to a hospital for tests and they gave him tablets, which made him feel worse including dizzy spells and headaches, he visited a chiropractor and within 1/2hr all his troubles were gone, he just revisits every couple of months or so for a few tweaks on his back and shoulders, a few nasty sounding cracks that cause no pain at all and he's fine.

A couple of days ago an electrician wired in a meter to a permanent power supply instead of a switchable one, result being the sensor the meter is supposed to monitor, burnt out (only £500 worth but not my money) All I wanted was a new sensor to fit and the meter connected to a switchable power supply. Along comes the engineer in charge of the electricians who wants part numbers and wiring loom numbers so he can get the drawings and sort it. 5 times I explained what was really needed. 4 hours after requesting the work, I was finally able to start working.
Give someone a degree and all common sense goes out the window.

It's a shame we don't have a CANBUS where I can plug in an OBD reader and identify which sensor is causing issues :)

Paying a premium for next day timed delivery for between 6pm - 10pm only for the stupid courier to attempt delivery at 15:30 and leave one of those silly "sorry we missed you" cards.

You wouldn't have bloody missed me if you delivered when you were supposed to!!

Nothing Yet :D
