WAMT....what annoyed me today!

The Snail on a river of treacle like progress of website migration....

Exactly years of riding motorbikes has tought me that

Indeed! I tend to treat every other road user (especially pedestrians and cyclists) as though they're brain dead. A car in a side road IS going to pull out on me, even though the driver's seen me. Ditto the van coming up behind a truck on a dual carriageway. Even the motorcycle is likely to turn right just in front of me! I'm even more cautious on the bikes!

Does your new host offer website migrations?

If they do it will somewhat faster and worth taking advantage of

Or if your happyto do the following, drop me a message with your log in details for your old and new host, location of the files you want moving, and I will do it for you

It's nearly done, just a case of unzipping this file once it's uploaded. I'm just duplicating my site for now onto my other site's hosting to see whether it's worth me shelling out for a new domain with them or if I continue to look elsewhere.

Hope it all works out OK

What is annoying me today, thick fog going up and down faster that a tarts knickers, just south of Sheffield.

What will p*** me off later, the rugby traffic descending on MK later, about the time I'm trying to get home, less than 2 miles from the Dons stadium not a good day. :(

Anyone seen Chris (@Cobra) this evening?

Made it home by doing a bit of a diversion around the lanes and "old roads" once I hit the MK boundary.
Wasn't much of a delay I'm happy to say

We're the far side of town from the Chiefs' ground so don't suffer on match days, we just avoid the choke spots at times problems are likely. The bloody fanzones are a PITA and the piles of sawdust are a bit of a giveaway... but that could be freshers week!

WAMT? Learners with no idea of basic car control (stalling 3 times at traffic lights? On the sodding level!!!) IMO car drivers should have to get the equivalent to a motorcyclist's CBT before being allowed on the road - I can remember my first lesson being in an empty car park and I know there's a space for off road road training.

Don't blame the learners.
That's ALL down to the instructors.

I must admit I have wondered on many occasions, why the hell did the instructor let them get away with "That" !

They need car with start stop then it will just restart each time they cock it up. ;)

Failed miserably, once unzipped turns out it had missed a load of files for some reason, and when accessed the whole thing flaked out! Going to start again from scratch tomorrow!

True but it's still the learners who are in control of the cars.

Yes and no.
But we all had to learn...and it's fine saying "they should make them do this....." when you didn't have to.
If the learner isn't good enough to be in general traffic then that is 100% the instructors fault.

To add.................Industrial estates are frequented by large vehicles delivering and collecting goods, there intended use is not for spackwit driving instructors to take their latest victim before learning basic car controls. Nine, artics all waiting in a line, with patience, whilst some poor learner is attempting a three point turn on the main access road. I have no problem with learner drives, hell we were all there once, but show some sense and gumption and think about were you take them.

And that includes a minor road that is a bus route, doing turn around in the road, using forward and reverse gears, as a bus approaches ;)

Not to mention housing estates where kids (wrongly IMO) are allowed to play in the road.

Ruth, as I said, my first lesson was in an empty car park where my instructor did make sure I could take basic control of a car and was reasonably competent with the clutch, gears and brakes before I was allowed on the road. Just outside town is a purpose built place where there are roads, junctions, traffic lights specifically for new drivers to use - never seen any using it.

Saw an artic sat at a roundabout yesterday, drivers going around it so I assumed it had broken down but no a learner waiting very patiently to pull out.

We have something similar, no traffic lights though. Anyone of any age can use it, but you have to use your own car. It's been there for years long before I learnt to drive 35yrs ago. Currently costs £15 per day. My youngest son has spent several hours driving round there with his brother and also on his own.

Lent my satnav to a colleague last week as his is out of date
Got it back this morning with the message "I've changed a few things as I didn't like the way you have it set up, it's much better now"

WTF I don't want all sorts of info about how many miles etc covering the map, I don't need it beeping for every speed camera and everytime
I go over the speed limit, I do watch my speed.
Had to reset if and start again, won't be lending it out anymore !!!

Even more annoying is it is someone I thought I could trust, oh well you live and learn, but that is a couple of hours of my life I won't get back
and time's running out :(

Though it is not just the elderly who block aisles. I've seen plenty of, usually women with young kids, who meet in an aisle, park their trollies next to each other and, oblivious of anyone else, catch up on the gossip - - this is what Facebook is for.

Another one is the person who gets to the till in a shop but appears unaware that they will be required to pay. Their money is somewhere in the bottom of a bag or in the inside pocket of a jacket underneath another coat.

Dave

and you also get with a queue at the checkout someone who gets a family member to join with a couple of items while mum does her shopping. Then panic sets in when he/she gets to the head of the queue and mum is still shopping

Or waiting until all your items have been scanned...oh I forgot something and go and get the item

WAMT? The twonk who blocked my car in at work but didn't have their registration registered on the system and didn't leave the details with reception! Despite an email going out to everybody in the building, I was still waiting half an hour later and was only able to get out as I managed to get the person parked next to me to move their car.

It was one of our company cars so going to find out who it is wen I'm next in the office.

Sod the little Astra or equivalent, Marc - get a run-out Defender! No problem shifting something blocking you in then!!!

"Annoyed" isn't the word but this is as good a place as any.

In the early hours of this morning, a Policeman - PC David Phillips - was run over and killed whilst trying to stop a stolen car near Birkenhead. He leaves behind a wife and two young children.

The person/people responsible is/are still at large.

Absolute scumbag(s).

But then you see it all the time, kids walking around tescosainsbury'sASDAmorrisons et al,
stuffing their little faces with a Mars bar (etc) and dump the wrapper somewhere when they have finished,
instead of putting it in the trolley and paying for it!

Pots and kettles springing to mind...

Only on TP do people complain you're whinging in a thread created entirely for people to come in and whinge on.

:thinking::rolleyes:
