WAMT....what annoyed me today!

As I and the highway code says where markings indicate you are in a lane to turn right, signalling is unnecessary. You'll notice the example of the car taking exits after the 12 o clock position are in the right hand lane. This is how I was taught 35yrs ago and even had to negotiate a roundabout during the test where I had to take a turning to the right of where I entered. I passed with no advisories. It's as much frowned upon for over use of indicators as it is for not using them enough or where appropriate. Only large roundabout I indicate my intention to "turn right" is on my way to work where both lanes of the approach road I'm on are clearly marked that either can be used to go right.

From the link...the pictures. ..those taking the exits past 12...are clearly indicating right even though they are in the right hand lane.
Road markings are irrelevant.
It might seem wrong, but it's fact.
You would fail the current practical driving test.

I was always taught, and I know things move on, but if you are going passed 12 o'Clock, right hand lane right indicator on.
until you pass the exit before the one you want. Then signal left.

That was with my Class one, (or LGV C+E as its now known) Must be 30 years ago now, but the same was taught for my car test some years previously.

but if you eat it, it can sometimes burn both ends
That's not a very PC description now is it? ( :D )
I mean it could easily be a hot biryani, , Chili con carne and more
But I can't think of a shop name like that :D
Edit too slow he gave the game away while I was typing :(

Unless it's a mini roundabout, you only indicate left on roundabouts and that is just after you pass the previous exit and before the previous entrance to where you want to exit.
That is what I was taught, both practical and theory. And I passed both. Or simplistically put, as the traffic flows only in one direction, you don't indicate unless you want to leave.

Welcome to the 21st century :)
If you intend to take an exit past 12 and don't indicate, you'll fail.
Yes you could appeal, but even if successful, all you'll get is a repeat test at their expense, and a hacked off examiner.
Worth it? :)

But the 21st century highway code clearly states if markings and signs are apparent, you don't need to indicate. My wife took some refresher lessons last year, having not driven for several years and was taught exactly the same thing.

Was shopping on-line and I asked chat operator did they have the item in stock, they said yes. I also rang to make sure it was in for collection, they said yes. They even put it to one side with my name on it. I drove all the way in, only to be told they were out of stock
Did you actually buy it (or at least pay for it and reserve it) online? If you didn't, then as far as the stock control system is concerned it's still available for someone else to buy.....

No did not get that far, their check out kept crashing. So they reserved it for me instead , so no did not pay for it. So suppose I should not moan too much.

You can reserve an item to be picked up and paid for instore, done it a few times myself

I'm simply repeating what I'm told by my husband (a driving instructor) and his sister (a driving examiner), that if, in a test situation today, you did not indicate right first, you would fail that test.

Woman in losing the argument - shifting blame elsewhere shocker. :D

WAMT - receiving an email from Bristol Cameras (name and shame!) telling me that the accessories I had ordered were out of stock.

I specifically phoned their mail order department before placing the order, to check the stocks, and the guy I spoke to confirmed that everything I wanted was in stock. So I placed the order via their web site 5 minutes later. That was two days ago. Now, they say they don't have any of the items and the lead time is estimated at 7-10 days. I would say it's poor form, but I think it's worse than that; the only explanation I can come up with is that the guy I spoke to on Tuesday deliberately lied to me.

I have had a similar experience buying from them, when my order hadn't turned up after 2 weeks I called only to be told they had none in stock and were waiting on it coming in!

I've had the same experience from a company of the same name, Stewart. Several years ago now but I still wouldn't ever use them again even if their prices were good.

A retailer deliberately lying to a customer to get the sale and their money? I'm shocked!

Well it seems pointless if you are going to post
spoilers does it? :(

opening a bag of Walkers baked crisps and counting them, there were 11 crisps in there. If the bags get any lighter they'll have to start stating the weight in atomic units.

I must be lucky, never had a problem with any I've dealt with

I do think you've been fortunate, or chose the right lawyers. I've worked with a lot of attorneys, which gives you a different perspective on things, and usually felt glad that I wasn't their client...!

Both mine and my ex partner's divorces went through without a hitch and the cost for them wasn't that high.
My first house purchase was delayed but that was by the seller nothing to do with conveyancers.
Sale of that house and purchase of my present one a couple of years went through in less then 2 months
with a fixed fee no matter how much contact I had with the solicitor and the cheque for the balance was with me
the following day, no complaints there :)

Me too ; (

Being "on call" to pick Mrs Nod up from a convention when she's had enough. Would have liked to get out for a ride on the bike but can't hear or feel my 'phone when riding. At least there was the British GP qualifying earlier and I've almost caught up on e-mails etc..

Rain! :runaway:

Loaded car yesterday to do car boot, looked at forecast all good, cloudy but no rain.

Woke up at 5am now showing 90% chance so went back to bed.

Now have to unload car and do the same again next week.:sulk:

That has to be a first, its raining somewhere in the country and I'm not there!

WAMT? its raining somewhere in the country and I'm not there!

Rain stopped! :(

Exactly how I was taught (in 1985) and I still do it that way. Something which infuriates me is people exiting a roundabout whilst still indicating right!

Steve.

Or indicating the exit before and stil continuing round ;)
The phrase I believe is signal correctly, and in good time ;)

There is a branch of Tesco near me which has a roundabout at the exit. The majority of people leaving take the third exit, effectively turning right. Almost all of them indicate right then continue out of the roundabout still indicating right.

The other thing which annoys me there is the number of people who turn the single lane into the roundabout into two lanes. I now go right in the middle to prevent others from pushing their way by the side of me. This annoys some of them... tough!

Because if you go "tight left" of roundabout someone will get on your outside, take the "racing line" and cut you up as you try and either leave or enter the roundabout, they do that here too,
even on double entry lanes.
Lane discipline is NOT just for Christmas Motorways ;)

They'd be missing out of all the fun...My favourite is for a very busy left turn on a roundabout is to approach it like I'm going right, and go right round it as fast as I can and conditions permit, to then 'turn left'. So basically 450 degrees :)
