Really a WAMY.

I have a bit of a reputation as someone with a fair bit of Excel knowledge at work so it's not unusual to get requests for help every now and again and I have absolutely no problem in providing said help.

BUT, when I get an email from someone in another department saying they are having problems creating a macro so they are sending me the workbook and asking me to do it then this is where I draw the line. He got a reply telling him that I'm happy to help but he'll have to come and see me with his laptop when I can spare the time.

The joys of being a parent Ade, my son who has not being driving long, bumped another car up the rear over Christmas, to save his insurance, guess who is picking up the bill, we do what we can to help them.

The immigration problems in Southern Italy,especially Sicily, are huge. But who can blame people wanting to get their families out of Syria.

Who can. Doesn't mean we shouldn't, and the Italians shouldn't, do everything possible to control their borders and what comes in/out. My views on the measures that should be deployed to do this are well known to all :D

Anyway, I hope you've repatriated your family member safely. I only posted it as the "stowaway" comment sparked my thoughts about that event in the news.

Could have been worse, Stewart - getting raging toothache at 30,000ft then arriving at your destination and finding a text/voicemail from the petsitter/kennels telling you about your pet's illness. Hope the tooth's sorted and the pet's better.

I have repaired many of these over the years and it usually turns out to be either the start capacitor cost about 3 or 4 quid or a burnt out connection on the pcb which cost a blob of soldier. That of course depends on your own diy skills to save the call out/labour charge.
