hehe id probably of legged it after 5 mins on my own to be honest.. yeah best to go in pairs, especially into derelict buildings.. and have a large monopod to hand for defensive measures lol
Need something - this is
That'll learn ya! Imagine the asylum wasn't actually shut but was in fact operating behind closed doors. You might still be in there if you'd been caught by 'em! Now that ain't worth thinking about.
Good shots by the way.
Thanks! Don't do it, I'm into horror films - last night I felt like the screen star
deeply scary and great shots, interested in getting into urbex and that made me think twice about it.
Dont hold back, urbex is wild!
Great story and some pretty nice photos as well, just out of interest what sort of range you are bracketing your exposurses over? Good website, but I'm slightly disturbed over the 'knife' choice in your kit list, I guess you might be able to explain away a blade on muti tool, but not the other one. I can imagine waht the police would say if you were ever searched, and you've got to admit urbex'ing chances are at some point you are going to bump into them.
First shot is to judge exposure - looking for evenly distributed histogram, once I've got that I shot 1EV exposures 9 times internally - that way when I post process I dont have no blown highlights.
Combat knife is not for combat

I watch too much Bear Grylls
err, wow amazing story and great photos must have been scary as hell don't think i would have lasted very long in there!
Thanks dude - I've never been so scared
Great Story with images to go with
Who was it that said "you have nothing to fear but fear itself"? FDR wasn't it?
The mind has a wonderful habit of playing around with your sanity
in places like that, but then as a part time "ghost buster"
I would find it interesting
Agreed, doing lots of urbex helps rationalise so its even worse when you can confirm that your mind is not playing tricks, very sobering
Excellent stuff. I'd like to get into this.
Do it, there's nothing like the buzz available
Looks like something from Silent Hill. Your mind plays tricks on you in these places though, probably a rational explanation for it all like the wind blowing the door shut or something.
Good call however can confirm its not the case. Every door was a weighted fire door - each fire door takes on average 10 seconds to close and has a very distinguished closing sound. In an abandoned asylum, one of these dudes closing sounds like a bomb going off. The foot steps were very very real, as was the game of cat and mouse. With all honestly, I assume it was security guards - this place is heavily guarded!
Sounds excellent!
One of the best bits of urbexing is the adrenaline of nearly getting caught!
You know it, my only concern was caught by whom? Security and police I can deal with no problems - I can almost recite the laws of trespass. Junkies and theives have no such laws
excellent shots and story
loved reading it and living every minute of it through your words
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed!

Cool story, but I can't help thinking that there's possibly
another urbex togger out there somewhere, who has exactly the same story to tell from that same night - the other footsteps, perhaps

!?
Quite possible - I was wishing for this! I heard no camera snaps which sucked, maybe they had a compact
I can just imagine someone else posting a similar story elsewhere having been terrified of you

I can only hope so...
I have goosebumps!! You are one brave tog!! Love the pics, and the story to go with them. Well done!
You watch horror films, you know, when the bloke or woman goes into the cellar when you know whats down there... I can almost hear you saying "You idiot, dont go down there"
I'm compelled to get the shot at all costs - thanks for saying I'm brave, in reality I'm pretty dumb. Brave is not hiding in a room, thats the mouse!
