have you seen how much body armour (head, torso, shins that ive spotted) theyre wearing?
Does that make a difference to the aims of the sport?

it does to the claims that horrible disfiguring injuries are common.
What claims, where?

Not another thread descended intobickeringdiscussion, flippin eck :bang:
I do not believe that women should not play sport, there are many sports that they can and do play, these are beneficial and in general terms they are not 'unfeminine' or 'brutal' in nature.
I believe in women being 'feminine' ... I do not like to see women fighting as I think it demeans and degrades women in general and is contrary to the natural role of women (and no I don't believe women should be tied to the sink surrounded by children!).

Well I'm sorry old man, but if you don't like seeing it, may I suggest turning off the television and not watching it?
I think you'll find we women are quite capable of deciding for ourselves what we do and do not want to do / participate in, and frankly I find your attitude demeaning and degrading.
You do know they gave us the vote, right?

What do you think about male gymnastics? I mean, it's pretty feminine of them to wear that tight clothing and prance around the floor doing dainty little twirls. Hardly the 'natural role of men' :bonk:

My point is that it is a 'violent' sport by nature and that is what makes it different from other sports which, though possibly having a risk of accidental injury, is not essentially based on violence.
anyone heard of some lass called Boudica? I heard she was pretty handy back in the day...

I believe Gramps knew here when she was a mere teenager, and even then he was trying to disuade her from, "all this spear and chariot nonsense".
Personally, I think his views on women and sport are appalling.
Thats a bit strong and tbh sounds a bit silly. Just because gramps thinks women should be the gentler sex doesnt give posters the right to start insults. Jeez lighten up :shake:
AAARGGGHHHH!!!!!!!
I agree
Bottom line Gramps has a right to his opinion, those who disagree have an equal right to think his opinion is sexist and outdated. Neither side has the right to call the other names.
[pedant]btw pepi - your signature would carry more weight if you corrected the errors - 'I' is a capital, 'really' has two Ls, and its you're not 'your' [/pedant]

my sig is just that MY sig written MY way its the way it is because i like it not because its correct could say the same about the name big soft moose would only mean something if you were a moose![]()

YOUR way is incorrect.
Back to the original topic......... I don't understand why anyone would want to box / MMA / kick the crap out of each other, but if that's what they want to do as a sport, then let them.
and you are blind to the irony that what it says could equally apply to someone who can't spell 'really' - still if you don't mind looking like an illiterate that's your perogative
